Pretty much the same by what I hear... oh and yes housing is premium only so high level crafting is impossible on your own as a free player.
If you are ready to pay the monthly fee, why are you worry about?
F2p players will have limit lp resources (we dont know how much yet) and not able to place a scarecrow or a house.
Its simple, pay the monthly fee or play for free with the current limitations, or farm gold in-game and buy the patron status (monthly fee) from others players (dont know how is going to be but trion say its possible to have patron status with in-game currency).
Still, didnt understand much about your complain to be honest.
Not impossible, harder only because of the lp regen, but a f2p player can use a house and scarecrows shared by patron players.
Did you not read the underlined part?
No, sorry, im confuse now.
We need a house for higher craft, thought you were talking about that, ...... it wasnt?
Edit: im not english native, so its possible im missunderstand the sentence.
This game is a P2P game that allows F2P players have some fun as well. Think of it like WoW. You can play an unlimited amount up until lvl 20 for free without paying anything but there are restrictions.
Archeage just doesnt have as severe of restrictions as wow does.
Yeah I don't really have a problem with this. You can't expect to get the best experience if you pay nothing for the game.
I would only have a problem if they made it so F2P players could not compete at all in PvP with P2P players, and that does not really seem to be the case.
Think of F2P as an unlimited free trial.
Are you team Azeroth, team Tyria, or team Jacob?
No problem , I mean it is impossible for you, or me, to be a solo crafter if a free player, if you pay you can be (still allot of work but possible). Understand?

Most of us consider it a subscription based game, with a F2P option to entice people to sub, hence no need for a lot of features for the F2P player. In fact, the more punitive the better as far as I'm concerned.

I've always felt that 'f2p' should be more like a free trial. Archeage was practically designed to be P2P, but apparently they went the f2p route at some point. AA is a quality game and I hope it will be successful, but if the cash shop is absurd, then I could see it having trouble.
I understand that partly, I just think about titles like EQ2, SWTOR, AOC..etc.. Where they were essentially doing the same thing. SO many complaints about it .

TRION is said to have 5 LP per 10 minutes for non-paying players, but I can't find any confirmation on it though
About the high level crafting, that statement is not true. Every starter zone has royal crafting benches (it's at the quest where you have to help a NPC build his house), and when you buy your mats from the AH you can use those royal benches to make the high level stuff....not saying high level crafting will be cheap for free players though...
Yeah again I kinda understand that, I prefer the sub model as well, especially for a more sandbox oriented experience. I just know many other titles wouldn't have the luxury of said outlook haha. Most other companies would be viewed as greedy or double dipping etc.. Although I must stress I'd prefer they just went straight sub with a true 14 day trial kinda deal ala EVE. Rather than attempt to call this a F2P.

I see where you're coming from as well.

Archeage is a subscription mmo and is designed that way from the ground up.
It has a free to play option for the freeloaders !
But if you are serious about this mmo you go sub to get the most out of your time.
Russia free to play = 1 labor for 5 minutes
Russia subscription = 5 labor for 5 minutes
NA/EU free to play = 5 labor for 5 minutes
NA/EU subscription = 10 labor for 5 minutes
^no idea if this will go live with these models tough.
Archeage is build around labor points tough, a simple fishing pole that lasts 3 days take 100 labor points to craft, and thats only to assemble when you got all the parts to make it.
Fishing line
Hook
Bamboo stick
If you get the components yourself you might be looking at another 100 labor give or take.
And thats just a 3 day fishing pole :P
Now lets talk abour your clipper at +- level 30 and you are looking at one horrible death stare at your labor regen to craft your own boat.
If you are a leatherworker and want to farm pelts to make leather without a farm then you are in for a horrible long grind.
50 kills give or take for 1 to 5 pelts if your lucky.
If you own a farm you can produce tons and tons of pelts a day.
So yes Archeage can be played totaly free !
But your looking at a one hell of a gimped gameplay.
I think this is good as both Trion and XLGames need to make money to sustain the future of the game.
ANd lets be honest its one naughty beast to play with
The issue with Archeage is it should not be considered a free to play game.
In reality it is a tiered subscription model.
There is a f2p option, but you are extremly limited by using it.
I guess it depends on your stance. Games cost alot to make and maintain... why should you have full access or equal footing when you pay nothing. The f2p version will allow you to play casually one or two days a week and you can see if you will like the game. If you like it and want to play it more, well you need to pay the $0.08 an hour or how ever much it comes to in order to truly enjoy the game.
AS for labor points in general I am not a big fan of them. I can burn through all my labor points in alpha without much trouble in 1-2hrs. I can see them being horribly annoying if I want to play a 6-8 marathon on a rainy weekend. I can see labor points being a nickle and dime mechanic in the cash shop in the future. Want to play more then X hours a day... well you can for low cost of X on top of the sub fee.
yes, thanks for explain. I really missunderstand the sentence
About the Labor points system, i dont see it as a issue or a anooying feature. See it more as a chalenge, something you need to use it in a wise way and the way it is help alot the economy beetween players.
For exemple, i dont craft fishing pole when i wanted to lvl the fishing skill, i bought from other players and keep the LP for fishing.
If i want to craft some "robes" i need to choose between spend LP crafting the fabric or keep them for other stuff and buy from others.
I see a system that help the economy in AH, if we had unlimit LP everyone was almost auto-sustain and less economy in AH.
LP keep the economy a little more balance imo, and we cant forget that consume LP gives xp that is allways need even for the 50lvls, if it was unlimit alot will abuse this system.
It is the equivalent of telling a PvPer that he can only kill x players per day. After those players are dead you can not participate in your favorite thing in game until your kills allowed recharge.
There are ways to keep a healthy economy without telling crafters their ability to have fun is a resource.
Yeah exactly. Labor points are a great resource because they put a limit on the actually work done in crafting/farming. This stops the prices from spiraling downward out of control.
I really like to be able to actually EARN money from fishing/farming/crafting for once!
