Questions about housing

All,

I will most likely be buying and downloading WildStar tonight. I've watched many gameplay videos but one thing I want to know more about is player housing. I started playing MMOs at the start of SWG and grew to love player housing in SWG almost more than any other gameplay aspect. It appears that WildStar's housing system is reminiscent of SWGs where you can place furniture and objects obtained in game basically anywhere. What I want to know is how customizable is the furniture placement system? Can you purchase different house layouts just like you could in SWG (such as small medium and large houses with different layouts within each category?). If WildStar's housing system is somewhat similar to SWGs I will instantly be sold. Any help from players with experience with WildStar's housing would be much appreciated.

thanks!

The options are the largest I have seen in my 15 years of MMOing. You can place items on any angle or on walls. The number of items you can place in your home is larger then any games housing system has had to date. This is what Wildstar devs claim and from the lists I have seen I am sure thats not just boastful talk. This is what one guy did with his housing plot. CLICK HERE Inside and out of the house you have tones of options.

This kind of instanced housing is complete fail for me. If I wanted instanced housing I'd go play Sims and have better experience...

UO had it perfect, yet game companies still want to feed us this instanced crap - no thanks!

Big problem with open world housing, as people leave the game you get a ghost town kinda feel. The land gets cluttered and it breaks the feel of the game. Also with this style of instance housing you can also have the freedom to set the mood of your house and plot. From what you want your sky to look like to the mood lighting. Rainbows or storm clouds. You cant have that freedom in open world housing.

Started setting up my house island today. Placed the house and added some furniture I got from quests. Used two of the six or so smaller plots on the island to place a gathering node and a garden. Planted a few seeds and then logged off for work. I plan to hop back in later today, find some neighbors, and start some resource sharing with them.

It's like they combined the best of the Asheron's Call and Ultima Online systems into a modern housing system with all the functionality and twice the features.

When MMO housing systems go to sleep at night, they dream they are Wildstar housing.

Levelling Architect to make your own housing items is tough. You can take mining and have no wood, or Survivalist and have no ore. I'm mining since metal is consistently worth more in most MMOs, Wildstar included.

Big tip to anyone, once you qualify for the Farming hobby, keep an eye out for Bladegrass, Architects need it for making some of the starter bushes for crafting dailies and they're 20 silver each on Widow. Plant as many seeds as you get and gather it anytime you see it on your map!

Survivalist is suggested by most for Architect as you use more wood then any other supply and you can scavenge the rest of the supplies by breaking down items that drop. But it is by far the hardest trade.
