I find the controls in combat unusable. It's like I need a third arm. I have to keep right mouse button pressed, aim with mouse, move with wasd AND use the hotkeys to use powers.

    I can't do it.

Well Wildstar is definite a step up from the Elder Scrolls, but I personally did not like it.  There are better MMO's out there.

I just have to accept that it's just not for me. the combat is dull as dishwater. move, cast, step out of the red stuff, cast... /zzz
perhaps it's because I went from defiance to eso that the combat in Wildstar feels like a step back. I play eso like I play defiance. all quick shots and evasion tactics. think gun toting ninja! wildstar just doesn't deliver the action in my opinion. has a training wheels feel, no brutality.

I see a lot of people blown away by the subtle differences to WoW. but I have to say there are better games out there. you have blinders on if you havnt tried other recent games, consider then how much of new game play elements wildstar is comprised of.
also note the limited spell slots were originally meant to make mobility for attack and defense a more player controlled experience. I rolled, I jumped, I stood still to cast :-/

as for the wow community that is surely eating this up I'm sorry to say this game is so easy mode you shouldn't have many people leaving fights after 1 fail. (logging off, removing the game and slagging it off on forums for every reason other than the fact it's too difficult for them).

Didn't like it at first , in fact I really hated it and was sorry I thought I had wasted my money ...... but now its kinda growing on me all be it slowly, my only gripe at the moment is the clusterfuck of wiz bang constantly all over the screen and the kiddie humor is a little irritating, I am surprised at my change of heart though ... and I'm not even a Wow lover so they must be doing something right.

Seriously, by "hand holding" does he mean the tutorial? Which is the first 3 levels lol

I love this game so much and I am only level 22 Esper.

Its hard to even describe the amount of content available in Wildstar, from the extremely elaborate housing to the intense and custom crafting.

The housing is crazy, you start off with a HUGE plot of land and a little construction site. From there it is up to you to make whatever the hell you want! My first house is Aurin theme, since that is the race I chose, and I am loving it. There is so many items to craft and buy for your house that it is UNREAL. Not just tables and chairs...but candles, calendars, beer cans...want a banana? sure! I love how there is a vendor right on your bar while at your house to check out the thousands of items you can buy with renown points, some items are themed for races or factions, and they are all available.

The crafting was frustrating at first, just because its so complicated and unique, but once you get it.... its amazing. Each profession is different and the interface and way you craft changes. My main character is an Architect, so I am making all kinds of cute stuff for my house! My medic is an Outfitter making medium armor, and the first item you are asked to craft for the tutorial quest can be customized to your character. Need insight for healing? BAM and guess what.... it is USEABLE RIGHT AWAY! No more crafting white name crap, the first item I made were gloves that were better then what I had  on.

Combat speaks for itself imo, every mob is unique in the way they attack you, a yeti may project a line of ice at you, a huge warrior guy may slam his axe down.... the AoE damage area 'shape' changes, so you never know where it will be! I love it, it is so damn exciting I am giddy. In the past I hated MMOs that made me double tap to dodge out of things, but in Wildstar I picked it up fast and love it.

I am usually an "Alt- aholic" on MMOs, having one of every class and race, sometimes more, but on Wildstar there is so much content and just leveling to 22....thinking about doing it all again is tiring just thinking about it!!! :) lol

Healing is a little overwhelming, I chose Esper for my first healer and I need to stand still for a few of my heals, and standing still during a boss fight its close to impossible. Trying to move our of all kinds of AoE damage and frontal attacks from the boss, while trying to heal...its a lot.  I love every second of it.

Ive played WoW so long and got max level with every type of healer, and even during raids I feel I can watch TV during. In Wildstar.....you blink and you could be in a fatal damage area. I have gotten used to dumb players standing in everything, and annoyingly healing them through it.... but in Wildstar that can't happen. If someone doesn't get out of the way to a safe spot, it could wipe the entire group.

I haven't felt this excited while playing an MMO since the very first time I played WoW in 2007!!!!

A MUST BUY FOR MMO FANS!!!

I played the open beta for literally 15min and was less than thrilled.  I have gone back to my most recent big MMO relationship: RIFT.  I hope WildStar finds its audience, but apparently I'm not meant to be part of it.

My other issue with the game is the combat. I don't feel like I'm actually fighting the mobs, instead of my weapons physically connecting or appear to connect, I spend all my time painting them with triangles and squares.

Your not the only one, however I will get my moneys worth out of this game :)

I agree, the questing system is mindless and confusing, it has ya going in many directions just to get to the quest and kill the boss. The timed missions get annoying after a while and I just totally skip them since them seem meaningless.

The combat is heh in PvE and find just hitting buttons like old school WoW to kill a shitload of trash mobs.

However there is still something odd about this game that I like, but can't put my finger on it yet. I am going to see the game through the 1st month, however not looking good more me to sub another month of it, but we will see. Maybe something just hasn't clicked for me yet.
