Any elements of RP?

AnslemAnslem Member CommonPosts: 215

Hey peeps,

Are there elements of role playing in Wildstar?  Trying to see if it's time to leave the World of Warcraft and get lost in a new realm.  Time more new lore, etc.

Also how's the PvP??

Played: Ultima Online - DaoC - WoW -

Great and lots of lore in a funny package.

Roleplay servers, with surprisingly friendly and roleplaying players on our EU server.

Sevral PvP settings and expending on that.

There is a lot of story in the quests, main zone questlines that lead you.

You might like it, or not, but you allways can go back to WoW with the next expansion.

Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)

If you are a lore kinda of gamer, pick the science path. Its filled with lore nuggets. PvP is crazy fast, way faster then WoW but people die slower =-) Know that sounds odd but you will get it when you play your first BG.

Lore everywhere in Wildstar.  NPCs have some great conversation dialogue, datacubes are like short audio logs you can find throughout areas that give you a little bit of insight or history of what is going on in the area.

As for RP the zones are great, you can actually interact with a lot of objects and sit up on ledges, crates, stools, etc.  All the emotes and fluff for RPing is there.

You also have your housing plots which grant players a nice, customized place for more private RP sessions.  If you are into RP it is a great game in my opinion, just so much lore and tools to allow you to dive right in.

Ya, small things like being able to sit on a chair just brought a smile to my face. Little details like that are missed to often. The list of macros are awesome as well. Not just one /dance and it has all the other ones you would hope for as well.

Agreed! It wouldn't be a stretch to imagine an entire guild of Monty Python and the Holy Grail or The Princess Bride players. It's a silly world but can be harsh too!

Death is nothing to us, since when we are, Death has not come, and when death has come, we are not.

The lore is definitely there, but with an mmo like this, player to player rp can be tricky. On the one hand, its easier to be immersed into rp because the language of the game reflects our own. So people just chatting regularly about stuff is not as immersion breaking as a low fantasy type mmo. But on the flipside, its also a flaw in trying to RP a world that is full of pop culture references. It breaks the fourth wall a lot, similar to WoW in that aspect.

This is indeed something that surprised me the most in the game. Its one of the best in game communities i have ever experienced. Not only in the RP servers but also in the PvP i m playing too. Crossing fingers to remain like that :)

I play on the RP server NA server. Honestly there are a lot of people who RP my self included. The community is nice as well, some are a bit...rash with their humor but nothing bad. We had a couple trolls but they left quickly because we refused to help them lol.

With housing, you can build a bunch of chain link fences on a housing plot and roleplay the Holocaust. I guess you could also place camera bots and build podiums in front of curtains outside and make a gameshow. It's pretty flexible!

The zones are a little too hectic for RP from what I've seen so far. There's very little areas that just feel like an open world and not part of some big event going on in the war. That's only what I've noticed so far in my limited experience.
