I can't wait for the "they were paid" posts. Pretty much every ESO superfan (this excludes people that like the game for what it is) must believe that Zenimax never paid anything to reviewers and Carbine did. When all is said and done, I'd guess that Wildstar gets and 87ish score and we can see that ESO has a 72. It'll be interesting to see how the superfans of ESO reconcile this discrepancy.
You have to judge them by what they are and not what they can be. Wildstar deserves an excellent score. It's easy to compare ESO and Wildstar since the launch was so close. ESO could have been a better game, the potential for a mmorpg that was Elder Scrolls based couldn't be any better, however the execution in creating that experience was very lackluster. Wildstar on the flip side, though far from perfect very far, at any rate Wildstar has nothingotoo game breaking and it was an entirely new ip. Expectations were not at the same level as "Skyrim Online" nevertheless compared side by side, factor out all the expectations and Wildstar is just overall a more rounded and complete mmorpg experience.
This game is getting great reviews from users and critics alike. There is very little negativity about the game. Even in the reviews, you do not have nearly as many of the all 1's being made as in normal games. It may not reinvent the wheel, but there is no denying that it is extremely polished and full-featured. There have not been many releases in the last few years that can say that.
James T. Kirk: All she's got isn't good enough! What else ya got?
While i think a lvl 25 it´s a very low level to score a MMORPG...
I must agree that the experience, polished, features & content in WildStar is top notch enough to worth a 89/100.
But at the end....endgame makes a suscess or a failure in a MMO,since it´s not a "run once" experience after all.
I played myself WildStar in Beta and didn´t grab my attention...gave it another try at release and now i´m totally hooked on it.
It is definitely a very well done game with tons of things to do!
I would of have waited at least to reach level cap to score it anyway.
Agree
Consider that Endgame is the real power of WS and not lvling. Raids, Warplots, Dungeons and Elder Game in general are the power features of WS, so a score of 89/100 in early lvls is very good. Best things are in max lvl anyway

Why would ESO superfans hate on it anymore than any other mmo superfan?
Playing an MMO is like supporting a sports team, they hate every other team there is.

Most of the ppl support the same sport team for their whole life, but when it comes to games they (we) drop them and pick another sooner or later

Agreed.
But there is a very specific group of people that are very aggressive that will try and make comparisons and discredit. It has more to do with what has been released most recently than pure hatred. In my opinion, that is what will make the irrational comparisons even more interesting. The delusion will be fresh and so the accusations will be more robust.

ESO got 68 from PC Gamer not 72 and Wildstar got 89. Big difference there.

Ahh okay but ESO now on metacritic is at 5.9 and Wildstar at 8.2. ...... user score sorry. Wildstar does not have a metascore yet and ESO has more votes so not really fair to compare metacritic just yet.
Anyway Wildstar is not trying for a huge player base like ESO which had the whole Skyrim base which led Knotwood to claim 10 million subs. It is only going for a much smaller base and because it does what it does well it is a much better game than ESO and hence it gets the better reviews. ESO was terrible at launch and the score reflected this.
Wildstar (like WoW) is a mass appeal game that is well-made and quite polished at release. I cannot imagine any major review site giving it less than 8/10.
The game design relies on tried-and-tested features, so everything will be familiar to the average MMO'er. No tricky "phasing" or "megaserver" tech that could lead to unforeseen difficulties.
It also doesn't come with the advantage/drawback of an existing IP (like ESO or SWTOR), where there will always be a loud group of disgruntled fans who'll insist that the MMO "desecrated" the IP, its game play and lore.
It's not a game that appeals to me at all (played quite a few hours in beta), but my tastes are generally not mainstream. I prefer niche games like EVE, TSW, Fallen Earth and (dare I say it ?) ESO.

They gave a 93 to SWTOR, and maybe you didnt know it but Wildstar is a NCsoft game. Real reviews about a MMO come one Month after launch, and not after a few hrs of gameplay.
Metacritic has two ratings one for the critics and one for users. The undecided one is because there is only one critic so far they have not added PC gamer yet.
SWTOR did deserve the 93 in my opinion and ESO deserved the 68.

So then a 72 for ESO must be absolutely horrible, right? Or did Zenimax not have enough money to give every single reviewer that submits their score to Metacritic?

That's how it's done right there. Pick one review that most people tend to disagree with from hundreds (up to a thousand) and then discredit every single review done by them in their history of offering them. Ignore that these reviews are done by different people and ignore that people have different opinions. At least step one is out of the way.
