"We think fans of the series are going to be surprised at just how far we're going." Bioware has revealed a new video that shows off some very early conceptual footage of Mass Effect 4, a game that will take off without the legendary Commander Shepard. In addition, Bioware reveals a very small chunk of its completely new IP in development. The video is part of the EA E3 stream event.

Now thats what im talking about!
hopefully they go back to their roots and bring back the exploration and RPG mechanics from the first game too.
yup I hope they finally got the msg that you don't explore a bunch of tiny boxes all instanced together. It's important to tell a story but it has to take place in a world not a shoe box.
I'm still very fuzzy about how Mass Effect 4 could actually go beyond ME3's ending. Especially if they still want to have Shepard (but probably not I guess).
Although I guess it's possible with a few of the endings.
In each case, the Mass Effect universe was one of the most interesting sci fi in games so far. So I'd definitely be excited to play around in it some more.
Feel free to use my referral link for SW:TOR if you want to test out the game. You'll get some special unlocks!
It sounds like they're doing a next generation thing. All new characters and a new location to play from.
It is kind of hard to tell the stories that they do in a completely open world setting. Go play a Fallout or a TES game.
James T. Kirk: All she's got isn't good enough! What else ya got?
It would actually be interesting to see how the different races start rebuilding after the ending.
I'm afraid they'll have to make a lot of things "canon" and ignore the rest though.

i didnt see the mass effect 3 ending, the game was good, but the way they kinda "Ninja Mainstreamed" the game from an Explorers Rpg, to a fps with rpg elelments drew me off, but damn, i love scifi, and ME is scifi in a class of its own, so ofc, im gonna have to buy nr 4 too.
Consumer mentality..
The ME 3 ending left a really bad taste in my mouth. It felt almost like that ending was an after thought and probably an easier ending to do because they can explain everything away by introducing god-child. Up until that ending the ME games gave me a lot of enjoyment with the stories and characters. I'll probably pay attention to ME4 and as long as they didn't stray away from the formula that makes the Mass Effect universe great then I'll probably end up getting a copy.
Any solid details on setting / time frame? With the power of the new consoles they can make some wonderful things in ME 4.
Hey, don't laugh at me! One of the devs actually said that.
Sorry EA/Bioware, not getting any more money out of me. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.

Well I know what they meant and what he meant, but as I have said before a few weeks ago in another post, it's like upgrading from a Little Tykes push car to a Power Wheels. You still gimp yourself by not buying a real car.

And I've said it before and I'll say it again, I will never understand this "PC elitist" "master race" mentality? Are those with this mentality that insecure with themselves they need to pretend they are some how better because they play on a PC? I play both and see nothing wrong with playing only a console only a PC it both.
And how did those who called themselves a "master race" before turn out? Some of you may want to use your pcs and do some googling....
Whoa whoa there kid, I didn't say anything about PC elitist or a master race or anything. I just said a PC is a better option. I own consoles too, but I prefer to game on my PC for obvious reasons. The only time I use a console for more than netflix or social apps is if the game itself isn't released on PC, but that doesn't mean I don't own them or would say not to buy them. We were talking about gaming exclusively I thought.

He wasn't comparing anything, see the video again. In my opinion if you want to make "wonderful things" in an new, highly anticipated AAA title you utilize the power and the tools of the superior platform.
Sorry, the content of the post just made me envision someone throwing a temper tantrum haha. No worries. In fact, after the Xbone price drop I'm considering picking one up this summer myself for a couple of exclusives and new features the one has. I didn't mean to come off as insulting, again my apologies.

They are the xb1/ps4 are superior to the 360/3 again it's really not that hard to follow along. When a game sells more on a console then the PC wouldn't it be wise for them to focus on the consoles?
Here is why they were referring to the consoles....89% of their sales come from the consoles do you now understand why they focus on the consoles?
First week numbers for Mass Effect 3 are in. The game sold 1.85 million units, which is up from 890,000 in its first day in North America. The Xbox 360 version sold 1.28 million units (69%), while the PlayStation 3 version sold 370,000 units (20%). The PC version sold 200,000 units (11%) at retail.
An interactive animated motion picture with some video game elements?
I'll pass..
I love that the buzzword of this E3 is Open world ... I just absolutely love Open world games.
Open universe and planets would be fine if there was a option to open it up. But for my first play through I want to be pretty much on rails like previous games. I don't want to miss anything. Or for that matter have to look at a guide every few minutes which is sometimes needed in open world games to not miss or do anything too soon. Missing parts of the story. Interactive story is exactly what the ME games were. Combat always sucked. Character progression wasn't horrible but not great some room to customize. Story is what the game was.
It's hard to get passed what they did in the end in ME3 but up until that point those games were good. My current frame of thought is that if they want me to pay full price it better not be a prequel or a parallel storyline to Shepard. I'm so done with the god-child bullshit that really felt more like a cop-out. An easy way for them to wrap all questions / storylines up.
"God-child does what god-child does because it is god-child."
