Not really.....
I believe much of the PvP is spot on compared to DAoC...(except for the DAoC main ingredient longterm CC)
This is as good as it gets with this type of PvP... Unless they add a campaign where dieing makes you actually loose one or more parts of your gear and your gold..
Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)
I prefer the Lineage 2 way where, if you take a castle you keep the castle for a period of time.
This way the sieges become events, even moments of rivalry for certain clans/alliances.
My thought is that they should have (like L2) the fortresses where players can have more pvp as those can be flipped but castles should have a greater length of ownership.
Like Skyrim? Need more content? Try my Skyrim mod "Godfred's Tomb."
The 1st and biggest mistake is making this instanced like a battleground.
It never ever realy felt like an open world, more like a big alterac valley...
If you lose it nothing realy is lost or won other then a few points on the scoreboard.
Guilds doesnt give a fack about owning a keep for long time as it just doesnt provide the prestiege it should have.
The problem with ESO is that it is to instanced and with it you never get the feeling of Woah this is awesome or i need to defend this position for hours and push them back.
it all feels meh and creates no feeling of this is my castle and we all need to hold it.
This mmo has totaly designed instance heavy crap from the ground up losing any immersive feeling and or vastness of the world.
And this is suposed to be the most immersive pvp mmo out there.....
I realy dont know how they can or could fix this
But for me it ended up getting pretty bored after 2 weeks.
On the same node i tried Archeage russia client and became attached to the world with zero instancing and getting much more immersive.
Raoming the sea to the north continent where castles are playerbuild and held by guilds that fight for mob grinding rights and key locations for tons of stuff that would almost be impossible to attain another way.
These castles provide a safe haven with your terratory and you defend it against any threats.
i like this a 1000 times better and i cant even understand 1 word russia and already feel tons of presure if something you spend weeks working on could get destroyed if you dont defend it and lose all that work in a siege battle.
This would have fitted perfectly in ESO if it was not for the Themepark approach they took.....
Cyrodiil feels arcade action packed instead of immersive and real.
Would it have been that you had to build your strongholds inside Cyrodill with your guild that takes a trmendous effort and recources then it would have been such a diffrent mmo.........
I could even forgive Zenimax for the lackluster contend and lazy veteran designs and exploits / bugs and lackluster class designs.
I am still in a state i am filled with disapointment and frustration as to why Zenimax delivered such mediocre mmo.
Cyrodiil should have been a place that matters and where you and your guild could forge a name feared or hated by others.
Instead it just feels and plays like an arcade Alterac Valley playing againt player091 and player909810 from guild98910 and guild90183901.
So much waisted potantial here and thats why they are losing TONS of players / subs.
Zenimax just totaly "raped" the IP instead of making this mmo rise to the top and shows the players a platform they can become legend.
I think the PvP is already quite good. The main issue is balance within a campaign. That is something I am sure they are working on, because that is always a challenge in pvp games, be it servers or whatever. They need to provide a sense of permanence and loyalty to a campaign, but at the same time, keep the campaign reasonably balanced.
Right now is it's by far better than anything else. Don't make me do side by side comparisons again..
That being said I would LOVE to see Cyrodiil even bigger, yeah I know it's bigger than some entire mmos, but yeah that's what I want to see. One more outer ring of keeps! Man that would be so amazing.
In the mean time they are adding the imperial city. No telling what type of stuff is going to be in there.

It's hard to call a land mass the size of a Kalimdor an instance, but you just did. Cyrodiil is HUGE.
Open world pvp servers. Let the castles be held by clans and siegable by other clans...make the alliance mean less than clans...make clans mean something. The game became a joke when they said you can be in 5 clans at once....

Why? That's part of the thing that makes it a normal game world. NPC cites and towns. Hidden quests, lore.
none of that has to do with guesting, i am talking about how you have a regular campaign and a guest one. i think this feature has created less "realm pride" and server hoppers who trade campaigns and attack empty keeps. However if they reduce the amount of campaigns this wont be a problem.

Yeah, didn't GW2 start that mutli guild stuff? I'm not a fan of that either.

8 man groups, CC that is limited to fewer classes, and lasts longer, realm abilities instead of VR levels, stop the omni classing, heck, to put it simply, really remake DAOC in terms of game play mechanics.
