2.2 million thats crazy. Im guessing a majority being the guest passes which makes minimally 550k copies sold if none of the guest pass players paid.

This may be the best MMO at release ever. No MMO has ever had so much content. Lets see if they can keep it up

That's an impressive number considering that addons aren't necessary and that not everyone uses them.  I myself have only downloaded one that adds another display element associated with procs.

2.2 million addons downloaded, and you assume that the majority of addon downloads were from guest passes?

You should probably try paying more attention to what you are reading.

2.2 million ADDON DOWNLOADS, not copies sold.

Way to not read the article and just skip through to number to try to dispute them in any way possible.  Do you work for Fox News?   Anyways, those "2.2 million" are add-on downloads.  Not everyone downloads add-ons for their game. [ I am an example of those that don't. ]

WildStar’s housing is already causing players to stall at level 14,

And that Penny Arcade comic strip linked is mostly spot on for me.  I've wiggled my way to 25 just so I could use the DE hoverboard I so badly wanted, but I'm stuck there doing feng shui with my plot.  It's crazy what you can do with full 360 X, Y, and Z axis controls as well as the scaling of item size.

    Yeah that doesn't make sense.

I really doubt that a majority of the players right now are on guest passes. I have encountered one person on a guest pass which would be the one person I gave one to. I'm sure they sold over a million at least.

    weird. wrong topic.

Doesn't seem like a bad game . I was one of those who downloaded it out of those 2.2 million . Unfortunatly my PC wont play it well enough for me to consider buying it .

I have a intel I7 cpu 3.4ghz , 8 gb ram and a Radeon 6800 HD graphics card . Maybe not the best on the market but it plays a game like guild wars 2 on high setting at around 60-70fps in the open world at 1920-1080 resolution . In wildstar on low settings its about 20-30 fps  in the open world .

I've tried lots of different fixes mentioned in various threads and forums on the internet but nothing seems to work .Before anyone says it I have of course updated my drivers etc . A few people have said there must be something wrong with my PC but as I have pointed out to them if that is the case why is everything else running perfectly smoothly on it . I only have problems with Wildstar and nothing else .

I'm not disposed to upgrading my graphics card just for one game because it plays everything else perfectly acceptable for me that I want to play . Anyway glad those of you who can play it are having fun I may take a look again in a year to two when I decide to upgrade my graphics card or maybe if and when they sort out the optimization a bit more .

Umm the 2.2 million was the number of add-on downloads NOT game downloads :-/

In another thread, the number was said to be between 350-550k, not even half of one million.

I think this thread is utterly confused.

You didnt read the article, or even the introduction in this thread, did you? Nowhere did they say, or even imply, that the game had 2.2 million downloads. they are talking about addons, which means there have been 2.2 million addond downloads, and not every Wildstar player has downloaded addons (myself included).

People see a number, skip all of the text inbetween, and assume they are talking about game sales/downloads :/

i got a 7 day trial from a friend, i thought id give it a proper go and still i do not like it at all

graphically it looks terrible, instanced housing is just why bother, combat is crappy and it was just a yawn fest hand held hub to hub theme park - appealing to some maybe but not to me

the stats of downloads will be hyped fairly significantly due to the 7 day trials

Yes, this. Let me quote the article for everyone posting so far...

"I grabbed the Curse Client and started leafing through their massive library. Over 250 addons have been submitted which, according to Jon Wiesman, WildStar’s Lead Client Engineer, have been downloaded more than 2.2 million times."  - The article

Yet people keep saying this in some way is 'game downloads' in this thread, which is simply untrue.

This is no way relates to the number of players, except that you can bet your average player isn't downloading mods, as average players in most games don't use mods.  Meaning that there is a lot of 'advanced user' interest in wildstar.  Advanced users being people who are content creators and content users,  aka Raiders.

Which is what the game was made for, raiders.

    Seems like a good showing!

I have around ten addons, this game is so much over the top i figured what the heck, I might as well add to it.

someone else who did not read the article.

I'm sorry you didn't like the action combat, it's very similar to TERA, GW2, Age of Conan, SMITE, a lot of very popular and well received games, so it's you, not the game.

Graphically it looks like a TV show, or something Pixar made, Pixar makes a lot of very popular things, again, that seems like its on you, not the game.

The housing is universally praised for it's complexity, diversity, and variety... again not sure if that is the game's fault.  Yes it's instanced, they simply could not provide the same experience if it was not.  They plan on making houses hook up in the future, I wouldn't be so quick to discount it, you can easily visit neighbors houses and invite friends over, housing is one of their best selling points.

I really love how they did questing in this game. There is literally NEVER a dull moment, it has the reward down perfectly when it comes to number of things achieved.  Always something to do and always satisfying.  Yes it's quest hubs, but they added a lot of variety to them, the calls coming in, the random quests you pick up off objects and quest drops are rather evenly balanced to create an experience that is really satisfying and well paced.

I couldn't be happier with Wildstar, It has the perfect blend of all the mechanics I wanted in a Theme park game.  Respectfully I think the problem is your expectations of the game, not the game itself.
