Im in the 20-49 bracket now, and i see bots and afker on bg's ech day. Mostly the same names over and over. Some normal names like Match or Xie, and some typical bot name like ghwkgyy. They are real cancer. Yestarday after one bg i told to myself its time to start plain this game, we had 8 bots in one bg, 5 on Dominion and 3 on Exiles.
Almost each year new mmo starts and always i see the same shit happening, do the devs not learn from others mistakes ?
Bots are real cancer in every MMOs and quite hard to battle. Devs need to commit active resources to combat them.
ESO does this, I saw GM login and asking players where bots are and starting to banhammering them. Now ESO are almost bot and spammer-free.
This is because the majority of players lost their interest for ESO. When this happens to WS too, bots and spammers will move to their next trending mmo. None can do many about bots. They are and always will be a step ahead, whatever Devs do.
ESO was actively addressing bots since the week of launch. GM's were popping in constantly and doing sweeps. They patched in fixes to address the issues as they arose, changes were made to loot drops that made bot camping solo dungeons pointless.
I get that hating on ESO is a thing, its been a thing since before launch and the vast majority of you guys seem to have picked every single minor quibble as an excuse to validate your predetermined views of the game... but lets not try to change reality here. Bots existed in ESO, they were aggressively gone after by the GMs and now are mostly gone, population movement played less of a part in it then you seem to believe.
Come on now. It was about a month in before they were doing much about the bot problems. The bots that farmed open world dungeons, bosses, and certain creatures, that made it close to impossible for people to get what they needed.
They then had the huge trouble with Dupes, people where screaming for a full wipe it got that bad.
On top of that the game breaking bugs in the game, people not able to complete quests lines, falling through the ground, getting banned for falling through the ground because of "exploits", storage bug that wiped all of your items, having your account name displayed whenever anyone friends you or ignores you or is in your guild which is still not fixed and probably will never be, the list goes on.
I planned on picking this game up after the dust settled but once the reviews came in it was clear to see that it was not the game for me.
1) World Bosses were not camped by bots, it was entirely in the solo instances (Soulstone farming for cash). GM's started appearing shortly thereafter and issue itself was patched out soon there after. Bots were banned throughout this whole issue. Additionally, it was still possible to complete those instances... I did not have a single one that I was unable to finish despite an army of bots camping it.
2) People scream about dupe bugs in every single game, they yell for server wipes and then piss and moan about losing time when they happened. This is not exactly an issue exclusive to ESO. It was also addressed.
3) I played since launch, I've yet to see a 'game breaking bug'. You are simply using a catchall term to justify your hate for the game. What exactly was game breaking? Storage issues.. had that happen, was annoying. Bots.. again those were annoying at best. Dupe bugs.. the AH system ESO has actually limits how many people this would affect anyway(look to NW on how bad dupe issues can actually get), so at worse someone made some extra cash for themselves. Mistaken bannings happen all the time, and were addressed shortly after as well. Account names, now your in nitpicking territory, I'm not a fan of the system myself but used to it after playing GW2 and a slew of Cryptic games.
At the end of the day, the point remains.. all this shit happens in every game. Some however earn a pass while others have the bugs used as an excuse to drive home the point about how 'terrible' said game is. Double standards.
So because you didnt experience all these they are fake? Wildstar isnt complaining about Dupes, Wildstar isnt complaining about bots preventing them from doing quests, wildstar isnt complaining about bugs upon bugs.
The bot issues is almost solely in PVP alone. The Credd system put in place cuts the head off most bots since it limits the cost of gold. This means that one of the only real reasons to bot is for personal use which would be players leveling through pvp. Once they level up the bots will essentially stop.
Bots suck in all games but its clear to see that these are the least annoying bots around. The bot problem will never go away as long as there are players in the games but its clear that Wildstar made a game that didnt attract the bots due to the low profits available from this game.

What does it matter who's experience is being ruined? "oh it's just PVPer's who see it, so who cares about them".. That's all I took away from that..
It doesn't matter what part of the game it has an effect or affect on, it's something that should be addressed either way, there are no second class citizens here, at least there shouldn't be.

While there are a lot less bots in ESO now, and while there were a lot farming mobs at the start of the game in ESO.
Do you know what ESO didn't have? Bots in the PvP zones throwing matches.
Did bots maybe cause people to not be able to join the server they selected (the home server for the cyrodil pvp) or perhaps fill up the zone with a lot of dead weight that makes it unbalanced?
I bet so
Nope, do you know why? Because ESO doesn't reward you for running in a circle, if you want to get any reward in PvP in Cyrodiil you have to actually kill other players...Something bots suck at.

Simple thought experiment friend, try to keep up.
Saying something was blown out of proportion and while an annoying issue it didn't break the game doesn't equate to calling it fake. The issue NEVER prevented people from completing the quest, it was a pain in the ass to deal with but never game breaking.
Following that thread.... having an entire team during a PVP match AFK or Botting effectively puts you in a situation where you are alone in group content. That IS game breaking and needs to be addressed immediately. It does not matter if you personally do not PVP, it does actually prevent players from completing content and will cause them to quit.
As an aside, botting does not stop at cap if the game has PVP currency you can earn to buy better gear. Players will run bots while at work or sleeping, and have been doing so for years in Warcraft.

So not able to level is not game breaking. Not able to do something that has no affect on the game and can be avoided, game breaking....Makes perfect sense.
There's nothing that will kill the competitive spirit of small scale pvp faster than joining a match and finding your team is undermanned because of bots.
Trust me its not AFK macro's.
In the beginning yes just some macro recorder on key strokes.
Right now, got no clue what they are doing they walk in patterns around the bg's its not macro stuff anymore.
This is way more then just a noob with a macro, seems like they are using the "addon" stuff to figure out where they are and where they need to go and stuff, more complicated then just afk macro.
The addon shit is crap anyways.
The only addons peeps use are the ones that replace the ones carbine made but dont work. (idiots)

How is this so difficult for you to understand, its like you never played the game at all.
A hundred bots tagging a mob did not mean you could also not tag it. Anyone who tagged it got credit (quest complete), and anyone who got credit got loot. It was annoying as hell to watch a army of bots killing the same mob over and over, but it never actually prevented you from completing the quest, getting your skyshard and also farming the boss loot.
PVP is not some tiny optional part of the game. For alot of players its the most important part of the game... so just because you do not enjoy it does not mean Carbide is not responsible for making sure it works.

Since I"m Dling the game for a buddy pass, I figured I'd ask what exactly are bots being used for in PVP? I"ve played quite a few MMO's many with BG's yet I don't recall any where botting was a viable option to gain rewards for kills or captures, the only thing close I"ve seen were afkers running in place in TOR.
WHat's different here, and what other games had this problem?

WoW has a pretty big BG problem but odds are you will never know. They are so skilled that you think they are decent players trying to cap honor. Most of the time they will be your top dps/ kills.
In Wildstar though they are OK, not really that great, they try and target you but you can run around them and are super easy to kill.
Bots everywhere? No. In PVP? ..there seems to be ALLOT. You wont see them in EVERY match but you will see them.
PVE bots? In the last week I have come across 4. This is just one server. The other server never had one nor any gold spam. Gold spam you never see in chat. The other server I get mabey 1-3 mail and thats it.
This game is NOTHING like ELDERSCROLLS when it comes to bots and gold spam.
PVP and bots ..yeah WOW still gets them and any mmo where people love to cheat they will. People love to cheat. Sure everyone here will say not me its the other guy. Yet bots, gold sellers, exploits.
There's nothing that will kill the competitive spirit of small scale pvp faster than joining a match and finding your team is undermanned because of bots.
This seems to be the scourge of all MMOs these days. While it sucks in the short term I'm sure the Wildstar developers will get this issue fixed pretty quickly. I wouldn't worry about it too much. After all it didn't seem to hurt ESO in the long term, so in a month or so I'm sure Wildstar will be okay as well.

From what I understand they bot with macros and they do damage and heal and win. Its like running into a train.
There's nothing that will kill the competitive spirit of small scale pvp faster than joining a match and finding your team is undermanned because of bots.
For those denying the existence of bots, lol... Look at my post history. I have some posts against Wildstar and some for. I think I am pretty moderate.
But in pvp battlegrounds, I have never, in my entire gaming history (I am 40+ and have played every major MMO and several minor) ran into such a prevalence of bots as in WS BG right now.
I am not sure exactly what the deal is. Maybe all games from now on will have lots of bots, but definitely wildstar pvp practice battlegrounds are just ridiculous right now.
There are a lot of bots because you don't have to target....skills are facing your target and press a button... a lot of them are AOE. Step 1: get the best AoEs... Step 2: Get the best heals... Step 3: press button near enemies constantly... Step 4: Resource management. Anyone can make a mediocre bot for this. Especially low level PvP.
you know I thought it was not that bad. I know PVP is. I go on to a different server I read chat where they are talking about a guy that has a gold seller site guild. I then watch node after node just vanish no one there.
I go back to my server in this cave watching 3 bots.. and then a guy jimbehm running around lvl 12 with a gold sellers web site as his guild. "report me they wont ban us"
This is not getting better. Ever day I see more and more BOTS. This is almost like ESO. All ANYONE has to do is go to the 2nd island and they are all over the place, most are invisible. Just like ESO 2-4 weeks in TONS of bots.
So 30 days unless they show a good try I am gone. I dont pay to play with bots. This is 2014 they know this launching and to just let it happen and do nothing. Lol yeah if there doing something they just miss my two servers yeah thats it.
What really got me was RP server the MECH station. A bot BOYBOY. I lie not this guy has been there for over 2 weeks. I reported him so many times as well as others and you can go there and find him.

1000's of bots banned? geez, good for them. I hope it helps. I have my doubts though.
Their battle grounds have a fundamental problem. They reward people for doing nothing. As long as things stay like that, there will be tons of bots wrecking pvp for real players.
It's a shame too because where does that leave WS pvp? Tied up with a never ending, battle ground bot struggle, and Warplot system no one is interested in.?

It wouldn´t suprise me one bit, if NCSoft forces Carbine to not spend Resources on hunting bots.
NCSoft is just Notorious for their lack of action against bots in their games over the years.
Just look at the Lineage games, AION, etc. Terrible.
But still tho, the botting problem really seems to have exploded recently in various New MMO´s and it really sucks the fun out of it!
