I think it's nice of sony to open it up to the public instead of some R&D guys picking the hottest chick. I voted higher for girls who had knowledge of EQ. Gamer chicks rock
I'm really not some crazy flamming feminist, I mean I'm all for females doing there best to feel self-confident and beautiful. I have no problem with the way females are, for the most part, made to look like in games even though it's completely unrealistic because most of the time the male characters are just as ridiculouse. And I'm all for look-a-like contest, I went to both the Beta party and the 1st Fan Fest for SWG and had an insanely good time dressing up as a female Jedi.
But am I not the only one that is completely grossed out by this, this contest has little to nothing to do with the actual game and is more about people voting for women who kinda-sorta look like a character who will then be in a magazine that makes Maxime look like a kindergarden reading material. I mean the EQ2 forums about this thing have turned into a bunch of screaming (god knows how old) guys posting stuff like *she's got great @$@^ and I kid you not a thread was started and got upwards of 100 posts about which positions all the females would like best in. DEAR GOD people, without thinking with anything other then your brain, can you imagine a younger female gamer happening on this contests or the male reactions to it, it's bad enough we're slapped around with this crap every single day, now the gaming community is going out of it's way to objectify females.
I know it's a to each their own world but this is just sad.
In truth this whole situation doesn't surprise me... This is SOE we are talking about here: the company decided that it was too much of an effort for its players to get up, walk to the phone, dial the pizza guy, and wait for him to come. Just sounds like another one of their gimmicks that they bring out every once in awhile. Who knows what bizarre idea they will think up next?
They need another model. They can't exactly use the one from the original EQ since this game is supposed to take place 500 years in the future, or some such.
I think that it's kind of cool that they're allowing their players to pick the next model for the character that represents the game. My only gripe about the contest, were I to have one, is that there are no male models for the overlord.
What I do find pathetic is that the majority of the women in that list look nothing at all like the character. Not even close. A brief glimpse in the mirror would have told them that. Argh. Those gals obviously can't see beyond the prize money.
On the flip side, it sure made voting a lot easier. Simply being attractive doesn't mean that they're fit for the role and I hope that those ladies are eventually bumped off due to low votes.
The only Finalist I would vote for would be the first girl in the second row, she actually dressed like her, Tastefully I might add. She has a average rating of 5.37. The others are just wannabe models showing off thier skin.

Woo! Gonna sign up for that.
Oh..you have to be female?
What?!? No contest for Lucan DLere? We always get the short end of the stick
Currently:

Oh my ... I feel a need to go back playing games Even if half of those aint fakes - how the heck can a mmorg addict hold on to girls like that
Also a pictorial in STUFF magazine.
Why dont they just open up a house of ill repute in their silly game, and serve pizza at the bar.
SOE you have reached a new low.
Support Bacteria, its the only culture some people have.
Lucan...............
lol
I mean no offense to the French President
However everytime I hear Lucan's last name it just sounds so very french
People who have to create conspiracy and hate threads to further a cause lacks in intellectual comprehension of diversity.
Playmate of the Year 2k4 is winning right now.
...Dont get me wrong, I liked EQ2...
But this really is an all-time low.
I voted for the girl who a.) plays the games, and b.) looks like Antonia, well as far as the pose goes.
I reckon the "professionals" should not be eligable.
For some reason I dont want to see the same contest for WoW

Honestly, I think this contest is a bit pathetic. But then again, I'm not some horny teen-age geek....
