@ lvl 50, having tons of fun doing dailies, running vet adventures and instances to get the attunement for the raid. Waiting till more of the guild hit 50 (we have 10 on 50 so far) helping them out. I just love it
Yeah some ppl stopped playing after a few lvls but they don't know what they're missing, the real game starts from lvl 20+ onwards and when you hit 50 the galaxy gets a whole lot bigger!

"Plainly put, WildStar is more the same… but it’s a really tasty take on “the same”. Sorry for another food analogy, I must be hungry. We’re all sitting around these forums, waiting for some new hot game that does everything different and makes us feel the same way we once did about EQ, or Ultima, or even WoW. But what we’re missing while we wait are perfectly, genuinely, fun MMOs. In a couple more weeks, I’ll be comfortable assigning a score to Carbine’s game. But for now, I’m content just saying this: WildStar is fun. And sometimes, that’s all you need."

As already said, I was furious with non existent headstart for many EU players and I’m bothered a lot by terrible lag, not only in Thayd (here reminds me that trash of Rappelz) but also in mini cities. My computer is 4 years old but was very good at that time. Still can play all maxed out and getting around 30fps minimum with Wow, Swtor, Gw2, Rift, .... but here. All maxed out I can squeeze out barely 1-5fps!!! Impossible to play. I must use medium settings to get barely acceptable 15-25fps. And note had no problem running last free week in beta all maxed out and getting past 25fps! Then after one of last patches in last beta week they did something that caused this impossible degradation of performance. Situation improved slightly after few patches but it is still very annoying. I know many does not have this problem, but I know for many having same problem. Maybe ATI related, would now know, but have all drivers patches to last.
Besides said above, game is really great! So far I would already put Wildstar on 3rd place after Wow and Swtor. About Gw2, loved it a lot but that hearts quest system and “random” events .... has become too much of annoyance. Nothing beats good old hub questing.
It is already so far more than worth initial price, same for sub. There is only one problem that could cause me to leave after 2 or 3 months and it is already bothering me more and more. And that is that impossible 1 toolbar of active skills limit. And very low number of overall spells or abilities.
Will see but for sure will sub after expiration of free time.
"We’re all sitting around these forums, waiting for some new hot game that does everything different and makes us feel the same way we once did about EQ, or Ultima, or even WoW."
This is exactly how I feel. You took the words right out of my head.
"But what we’re missing while we wait are perfectly, genuinely, fun MMOs."
This is the opposite of how I feel. A lot of people played for about 5-6 hours and walked away bored. Most of these people didn't bother to get a guest pass and actually shelled out $60.
I'm concerned that for every game that produces more of the same, that people fork over their $60 for like it's some kind of tax, we're taking a further step away from ever seeing that new Ultima, EQ or WoW. We're giving producers paydays for rehashing the same formula, the same gameplay and essentially giving them huge props for even the tiniest innovations.
I'm sorry, but as long as games like this remain financially successful because of people buying them, happy to have the same format WoW's serving up with a different skin, then producers are never going to look to make the next Ultima/EQ or WoW. They'll just keep feeding us the same game until, finally, even the most loyal MMO generalists like Bill will finally feel the same way I do.
Or they won't... and our grandkids will still be playing this same game with minor innovations along the way. Maybe they'll be able to triple jump instead of double...
See the issue I take with your post is that you think that peoples tastes are some how 'less' than your own. As if you have this imperative design of how MMO's should be trending or heading with innovation being the key aspect of every incarnation. For most of us, we just want to play fun games and Wildstar (for many) its just that.
Now, it might be your thing, perhaps its more of the "same" for you, that is a perfectly valid opinion but because people enjoy the game doesn't make the experience any less because your view is different.
I enjoy this game, I hope I continue to do so. The game is fun and I enjoy playing games with other people and my friends. I am a fan of MMO's and all that comes involved in that package. I have never been disillusioned with my journey in this genre, I have never sought nor been disappointed in playing an MMO. I have however been disappointed in a bad MMO and delighted with a good MMO.
Its all about perspectives, Wildstar is as it is because the things it emulates works for many many people. Its what smart people do in business. Sure, people praise innovation, but when it doesn't work, do you feel those people whom praised stick around? No, they do not. For the most part.... they go back to WoW.
So as someone that has literally tried every MMO released since EQ2 I can honestly say that this is the best that I have played. Is it perfect, nope, but it is fun and has everything that any MMO has ever offered.
As someone that played WoW for almost nine years this is the first game that has made me say I will not be returning to Azeroth. I am not saying that WoW is a bad game, it's not by any means but what it is for me is stale. I am not looking for the next WoW and I am not hoping that this game is the WoW "killer". All I know is that this game has everything in it that I love about WoW with new classes, scenery, better graphics and a better combat system.
My suggestion is if you are an MMO gamer, try it, play to lvl 25 or 30 then judge for yourself.

Out of all the garbage that gets thrown around on these forums, these types of statements are among the ones that makes me truly embarrassed to be here.
What a mean thing to say. On top of that it seems so missed placed.

Bill, I gotta say kudos so far on this review. However, I've gotta call you out on your Dominion propaganda. I'm pretty sure I just did a quest chain in Whitevale as an Exile where I was stopping some of your Chua friends from dumping toxic waste and other chemicals into the environment. Chemical warfare goes both ways my friend. :-)
Have only just started playing, but so far I'm enjoying wildstar, I'm only level 10 and consider myself a casual gamer. For me combat is great, I love the pace of it, and it's reasonably challenging at times (maybe it's the game, maybe it's me lol!) But enjoyment is the name of the game (for me anyway) looking forward to levelling some more over coming weeks. So far so good.

For those of you having FPS issues I would suggest that you update your drivers. I personally have noticed about a 10fps difference since they released the optimization patch last week and I downloaded the latest NVidia drivers.
Also, please be realistic with what you are gaming on. If you have a four year old PC, chances are you are not going to be able play a lot of newer games on high settings. In terms of a gaming rig, anything over two years usually needs to be upgraded or replaced to play the newest games on high or ultra settings. Remember that video games drive the hardware industry, it's meant to be that way.

No comparisons here as that's not what is needed. What I look for is a fun game to play that keeps me interested.
