"Finally, we got down and dirty with one of the biggest issues currently affecting WildStar’s high-end PvP: the painful ineffectiveness of PvP stats and gear in a PvP environment. For those who haven’t been watching the issue closely, WildStar’s PvP itemization is currently in an awful place, with PvP gear only being helpful while wearing three or four pieces max, and equipping PvE gear for the rest of your slots. Additionally, PvP Offense can only be used to penetrate PvP Defense, making PvP gear ineffective against players who aren’t also wearing PvP gear. This has led to some uproar among the high-level playerbase, and Jen empathized with their concern. “I’m really sore about it [the itemization issue]. I wish we had the time to fix this prior to launch. The original design was done many months ago, and by the time we realized it was an issue, backtracking through all the work done on top of it was rather hard. We didn’t have the bandwidth to figure out what was done, so it needed to wait until post-launch. We needed to sit down with an engineer over several days and deconstruct a better solution going forward. We’ve got the design spec approved, and I’m working with our Combat Lead to create a post explaining what we’re going to do with it. You can expect that sometime this week or next.”"
ROFL, amateurs. But its a PvE game so no wonder there really.
Seems that endgame wasnt properly tested, same ol' story. Reminds me of SWTOR very much.

Its gear based game....how could someone even design PvP gear that isnt working AT ALL against PvE gear in the first place lol
Not to mention "yeah we wanted to fix it (since we know it for months really) but we chose not to tee-hee"
It just shows how little effort they put in PvP and its nice to know for all potential PvPers who might (by some wonder) want to try the game the treament theyll get.
Same as SWTOR, PvP is sideattraction for PvEers (its not like it wasnt clear from the beginning but just to put it out there as its not beta or testing any more)
Wow a lot was said in this article. First, Should one person be in charge of battlegrounds, arenas, warplots, dungeons, adventures, and raids?

How is this even possible for a game that's been in development for 5+ years??! Not one person said "Hey, we have a problem here?" PvP should be handled by someone who pvps. You can not possible tell me that someone who pvps would let millions be invested into a system as obviously broken as this!
We're terribly sorry, users of mmorpg.com. We understand that you're all practically flawless and demand... NAY, deserve the very best. Around the world entire people groups are starving, war is erupting, the climate is going to hell, but we understand what really matters: it's the insatiable satisfaction of our spoiled, entitled customer base. We understand that there is absolutely no room for error lest you whine like pathetic toddlers, because we also understand that you have the patience of one. Something as complex and life-consuming as building an MMO is paltry, and should be executed without hiccups at all. This is what you all deserve. Forgive us for being such terrible designers, and furthermore, for being such terrible human beings. We are not worthy.

Your humble subjects,
Staff at Carbine.
So are you saying that Carbine are going to shut down and concentrate on ending world poverty and universal peace?
Or that bugs are OK?
You also seem to be confusing "poor design" with "poor implementation".

At least we dont have a game where only 1 weapon type is used. That would be horrible game design if for some reason everyone used only a staff or something.
Many flaws and many issues and still long way to go for wildstar.
- Broken adventures (though being adressed now ... still a long way to go still there aint any issues)
- Unrewarding dungeons (Though this being adressed, the question remains when will it go live?). You can get better gear through crafing.
- Broken pvp (gear issue mentioned). Well Rift had a good approach there. All who enter WF and other stuff get their pve gear replaced with lowest possible pvp gear for that level bracket. So unless you got better pvp gear, all were on equal level.
-- Didnt notice pvp-botting much at level 50.
-- Pugs getting farmed by Pre-mades in pvp. In my oppinion its ok, but other people might lose motivation cos of that.
- Huge amount of gold sink ( to dye armor can cost up to 121g or 1p21g, doing pvp in WF breaks your armor and you get repair costs for that ) and in mean you have to grind china farmer style to earn some decent gold. (Though stated by carbine that they will adress this issue, there is still a question when with so many issues being there?)

How dare you speak for us. You know nothing of our work.
If gear is enough of a driving factor in your PvP to be able to break it, then that game's PvP sucks from the ground up can never be good.
Its like a boxer or martial artists with bad footwork. They might look pretty and know a ton of moves but they suck and they will always suck until they relearn the fundamentals.
Basics, basics, basic. Always the most important thing.
