Dev Blog|The Mundane Developer

The guys at FC have expanded their team in the past few months and this first in a series of Dev Blogs introduces the newest addition, Yevi the 'Mundane Developer'.

Greetings!

I am Yevi, the Mundane Developer. "What is a Mundane Developer," you ask? Let me explain with a metaphor.

Imagine a professional football team. At the helm you have a quarterback, Brax. He is calling the shots. He is organizing the attack. Down field is his ace receiver, Teddy. Teddy catches the ball play after play and touchdown after touchdown. The crowd loves these guys as they win game after game. After a touchdown, the special teams come on the field. The kicker, Gassy, is very talented and specialized in what he does. He NEVER misses. The stars of the team are popular with the fans, but they know the team is bigger than themselves. There would be no wins without linemen, defense, or coaches.

Then there is me. I am the guy who paints the lines on the field before the game. It's not a glamorous job, but it is essential. Good clean games don't happen on a sloppy field.

Software projects have certain basic elements that are common to many other projects. That is what I am creating for Trials of Ascension.

My first task is creating a database to store user data. Not as flashy as combat or magic, but you have to log in before you can fight. That is what I am working on. Usernames, passwords, and email addresses. Even as simple as that sounds, it takes some effort. My next post will talk more about what is involved in creating a database.

I told Brax folks would like to hear about all aspects of game development. Am I right?
