I don't even know if a game like this exists, but I was curious.. A game that is totally run and controlled by the players. For example, there are no computers or quests.. And everything you do has an impact on the game, because players run everything. For example a game where there is a player as the king that makes laws and you start out at the bottom, but you work your way up. You can start kingdoms and towns and overthrow people and have jobs and all that... You can choose to be good or bad and if you want to be a good citizen or if you want to be a murderer. There are fights between players and everything is kind of connected in a way? It's honestly kind of hard to explain but are there any MMORPG games even sort of like this?? Where everything is controlled by us? I think this would be so freaking cool and if there is a game like this LET ME KNOW.

EVE is somewhat like this.
It has good and bad. Huge meta and abusive play styles that manipulate mechanics to the point you aren't even playing a game anymore.
A few years ago during the CCP ran alliance tournament final battle, one group face rolled the other, down to a single Vindi Battleship, then sat there and waited for the solo Vindi to take out the ships on the other side because a meta gamed agreement was made to fix who would win. Rigging the tournament was seen as 'innovative' by CCP.
I think EVE is an example of players running a game. However this is not a good thing.
There is an alliance in EVE that seems to get their way. Anyone who plays EVE knows who I am talking abput.
There's not much distinction between "players completely running the game" and "players completely ruining the game" .
Hard to tell the difference many a time, I say.
You mean there's an alliance in EVE that works together to do exactly what the game expects players to do?
The GSF never "got its way" for any other reason than we worked to achieve goals using the same tools available to every other corporation in EVE. We never had a dev in or corp giving us BP's to provide an advantage. We did, however, play an instrumental role in taking down an alliance that did have a dev helping them.
OP may want to check out Face of Mankind. It's entirely player driven, and I believe it still requires the players to create quests. Saga of Ryzom may be another one to check out, but it's not quite as player driven as something like EVE or FoM.
Playing: Darkfall New Dawn (and planning to play Fallout 76)
Favourite games have included: UO, Lineage2, Darkfall, Lotro, Baldur's Gate, SSX, FF7 and yes the original Wizardry on an Apple IIe
Pretty sure a game totally run by the players would end in utter destruction of almost everyone involved.
Humans don't know how to play nice in RL, and in gaming worlds with no consequences their behavior is abhorrent.

Don't just play games, inhabit virtual worlds™

SWG was like that for me. While it had mission terminals and some themeparkish rides the overall game consisted about it's community, how we worked together or against eachother. With the flag system being my most favorite type of PVP system when it comes to MMORPG's with open world PVP.
But since SWG is no more EVE would come very close to player control of game. Purely based on game experiance with those games. I know of a few other games as mentioned by others in this topic who fit the bill aswell. But don't have experiance playing them.
But I don't believe that's what the majority wants, aslong people treat this genre just like your common multiplayer games I don't think we are going to see allot of the more virtual worlds. Just look at what happend to ArcheAge in the east I am afraid will also happen in the west.
And seeing EQ being allot more succesfull then SWG ever was already told me we would head more in the direction of EQ kind of games thought in time most became more streamlined and allot more solo friendly even though we could solo in the old games but due to the ingame community back then socializing meant more then just getting into a group/pug or guild then it seems to be today.
You would be talking about a game with no content, this will most likely never happen. The closest thing to that is right now Landmark but it is nothing more than Minecraft part 2.
Players can't change the world and it's content unless the tools given to them are above and beyond amazing,i cannot see that ever happening. The closest thing to tools and creating the game is Unreal Tournament with it's mods and released code and player run servers but of course that is not a role playing game but merely a fps.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
Being good at playing the game? How dare they!

I think your experience is too narrow.
Imagine if a few people on one side tried to make a deal with an enemy but couldn't affect other people if they didn't want it.
In Lineage 2 you would sometimes see one alliance make a deal with another alliance to swap out a castle only to have alliances/guilds that didn't like them show up to "change their plans".
It's a good thing to have guilds agree to things and it's a good thing to have their enemies try to stop them. That's the idea.
Guild Wars 2 is much too limited to draw any conclusions as you have done as far as "player run worlds".

I have to second this. ATitD is a game where anything of importance is created by players cooperating and noone can force you into playing a certain way.
They're only able to do this because other players sit on their asses and let them. All it takes is another bunch of motivated players to push back... but there seems a lack of suitable motivated players. Easier to assume the position and quietly whine, probably.
This.
So sorry for being too vague. Obviously something COMPLETELY player run is simply chaos.. I want rules and all that, and I guess for the game to be interesting you would have to have a basic storyline... But I don't want the NPCs and quests to take over the whole freakin game. I want a game where you have to work with other people to succeed.. Where everyone is equal and everyone has an equal chance when you start out to be successful. Where you can build your own cities and guilds/factions/nations which are all run by people. There are politics with your leaders, and there is a real sense of community. No computer tells you what you have to do.. Because you have a choice. You can choose where to go, where to build, where to attack and how to attack. You can choose whether you want to be a merchant, trader, fighter, theif, or try to gain power in your guild and work to become a well known leader. Everything is based off community.
I guess this would be a sandbox MMO, so I guess those are the types of games that I like. But minecraft for example... That's too sandbox. There has to be more of game then that. And I understand a lot of people don't like these types of games and a lot of them don't work out, but I just love the idea. And there are two new games called The Repopulation and Albion Online coming out this summer.. They both sound awesome, so I am excited for those. Albion online is gonna be completely free.
And I looked at ATITD, it looks cool, but I like the idea of working to become the best nation and planning attacks against other ones, which this doesn't really have. Their political system sounds cool though.
That is why i don't want to depend on others to have fun in a game. Professional content is a much better source of fun.
Wurm Online is very close in fact the players build each world it's a blank canvas.

I've always said if the hi sec players got a little organized they would have a very respectable sized alliance.
