Returning Player | FPS issue

MarleVVLLMarleVVLL Member UncommonPosts: 907

Hi there.

I saw DF:UW on Steam and couldn't refuse the offer. I played in beta and subscribed for 3 months after it launched, but my friends left and I went with them. I returned to check out the new changes and thus far, I'm quite surprised and am enjoying the experience; however, one major obstacle is presenting itself before me.

My rig is fairly decent: GTX 660m and a CORE i7, 8 gigs of ram. I have played other games on maximum settings with a consistent frame rate of 60. However, here, I can barely manage 20 on low.

Is this an issue across the board? Any thoughts or advice here?

Thanks!

that is really strange, how was your FPS when you played the first 3 month ?

Does changing the GFX settings to low does anything to you ? Run the gamefiles as administrator

I never played outside of the extended beta they had an I had framerate issues as well.  Not sure if it was fixed when it eventually launched.

    Please try disabling Windows Aero.

TO do so, please right click on Desktop, then Personalise.

Proceed into picking a Basic and High Contrast Theme.

I used a different computer during initial beta and release. I had to play on low, and it still wasn't great then. I'm using a far more powerful computer and am locked at a low FR.

Make sure your drivers are updated.

try turning down your graphics. Setting them to lowest resolution greatly increases frame rates.

Also, they just added a new option that can turn down spell effects.

Really can't comment much on laptops.  Darkfall is a CPU intensive game.

My desktop computer that I built has similar specs, I5 Ivy bridge4670 @ 3.4 ghz with 8 gigs ram.  I get 100 fps at max settings @ 1920x1080 rez.  At sieges, I'm still over 60 fps at max settings but will lower the settings for much greater fps.

Like I said, I don't know much about laptops but I do know they have never been the best to play darkfall with.
