Hi all! I'm coming here to see if anyone can give me a hand by helping me find an mmo that can give me some entertainment.
Things i am looking for/used to:
At the moment i like, somewhat, the gameplay i saw for FF XIV, but i really don't want to buy it if i may get bored in 2-3 days. I don't mind paying a sub (i was recently subbed to ESO), but preferrably i would like to know that i am paying in advance for something that will give me some nice hours of entertainent (unlike ESO, which while being good, it just didn't satisfied me).
So, if the game is P2P, i would like to be able to try the game first (5-7 days trial?). I also don't mind F2P.
PVP is not a big deal for me. While i like it, it's not my main concern. I do want to be able to solo play in most areas at least (dungeons, instances, whatever), since mostly i will solo.
It would be really great if the map is "sandbox-like", in the sense that the whole world can be travelled without loading screens or thins like that...kinda like Lineage 2 for example.
An important thing is skills. The less skill shortcuts it has (UNLIKE Lineage 2), the better. Regarding that i really liked Neverwinter Online for example, which only had around 6-7 active skills at a time (and ESO, which had only 6).
Games i've played:
Neverwinter Online, Elder Scrolls Online, Dungeons & Dragons Online, Atlantica Online, Aion, Trickster Online, Ragnarok Online, Fiesta Online, Lineage 2, SWTOR, Age Of Conan, Forsaken World, Perfect World...and so many others.
So, i'm all ears. Thanks in advance for your time!

Froma person who played FFXIV: ARR at launch I hit a brick wall when I hit max lvl. Locked out of raids weekly and limited gathering of a currency to get good gear.
After all quests are finished, they cant be repeated if you switch classes on the same character. You'd have to make a new character.
1 character slot i believe it is 12.99 a month. 14.99 a month for as many characters as you want, that is if you want alts that actually have quests to do instead of running around doing event after even or dungeon after dungeon.
It can be a grind once every quest has been done.
Also, if you really want to know about a game without waiting why don't you just watch multiple reviews of the same game by many different people?
I'm sure you'll hear a lot of the same things. Since I've quit there has been tons of content patches though and a new class is about to be added; Ninja.
P.S.- I can't say I didn't get my moneys worth, because I definitely enjoyed the story and adventure I had when I had it.
Most FF fans stick with Atlantica.

Yeah, i've played and really loved Atlantica Online. But i'm not sure that's the kind of combat i am looking for right now.
I am downloading Tera. Checked some gameplay and looks...nice, but i have to check it out to see if it's for me. I want to try Guild Wars 2 as well, but unfortunately there are no trials to check it out before deciding to buy it. Same thing goes for FF XIV.
Guess i'll keep looking for the moment.
Not a long term game but fun in between.
Yeah...just checked some gameplay on youtube and nope, not for me at least.
Tried Tera and yesterday i tried the beta for ArcheAge. Tera just didn't get to grab me, and while ArcheAge looks nice (not regarding graphics but the idea of the gameplay), still it has waay too many action bars for skills which i'm too old for, unfortunately.
Skill-wise, i'm looking something that while can give you several different active skills, you can only have a short amount in your hotkey bar (Elder Scrolls Online or Neverwinter, for example).
Yes, i know that even if a game has 43.221 hotbars filled with skills i can just spam skill 1 and 2, but it's not the idea (plus, on a pvp situation, any youngster would just wipe me out :P ).
I'll probably check Swordsman Online (i've seen some videos and it seems to allow only 8 active skills at a time) and The Secret World. I remember playing a beta of that game a long time ago, so i may give it a chance. I know i won't like Swordsman Online since i am not too fond of chinese settings, but well...i'll check it out.
Guess i'll try editing the subject, since FF XIV also has lots of skills :P .
Thanks so far to all for the options. Guess with 15 years in MMOs (Started on 16, i'm 31) i'm really complicated to what i look for now.
