Which would you sub to?

Final Fantasy XIV or Elder Scrolls Online

Difficult option.  I chose Eso purely because it is the more recent game I subscribed to.  Both have huge flaws for me, in that both are generic and tedious.  So dunno.

Neither.  There hasn't been a game worthy of a subscription for quite some time.  And that includes WoW.  All unworthy.

    So .... F2P or bust.....?

ESO. Played it and enjoyed it for a couple months. May return to it again in the future. I bought FFXIV at release and found the game world beautiful, but didn't enjoy the gameplay - no fault of the game, doing leves just wasn't my thing.

There isn't a "right" or "wrong" way to play, if you want to use a screwdriver to put nails into wood, have at it, simply don't complain when the guy next to you with the hammer is doing it much better and easier. - Allein

I would say that cash shops are probably the logical next step..

Lok, I went back to Eso cause it was £1 and £1 is sweet FA.  I got killed twice in 15 minutes by invisible mobs.  Not my idea of fun...

Do you feel that is a permanent part of the game experience or do you feel such issues will be resolved at some point?

I like a lot about the game, yes it should have been Skyrim online and more group friendly, but I want to play it.  I just cannot while it is broken.

I wouldn't sub to either of them. I would definitely try them if they were F2P.

I went with FFXIV.  I am currently paying it and have been with the game longer then any other MMO in past few years.  Tried ESO, lasted less then a month, to many flaws that will require a major game re-write to fix.

Recently canceled my sub to ESO and resubed to AAR.

ESO could be great. But the inability to fix anything without introducing new, worse bugs; the apparent lack of direction of the game; and the broken skills / classes are just not worth paying a sub for atm.The new FPS and invisible mobs bugs were the deciding factor to take a break.

Played both and I chose neither. The only MMO that I have any interest in whatsoever is EVE. This newest crop of recycled horseshit leaves me pretty unimpressed.

FFXIV Reborn had everything, beautiful sound, music, graphics...except gameplay. I was really disappointed by the quest hub driven button mashing style of gameplay.

I'm eagerly anticipating the black raspberry and pudding pie I'm going to be making this week, so I'm gonna have to go with pie. :D
I want to help design and develop a PvE-focused, solo-friendly, sandpark MMO which combines crafting, monster hunting, and story.  So PM me if you are starting one.

That sounds amazing.  Forget the mmo's, I want pie.

Neither.  I have no interest in any FF title, no matter what it is, so that's out and ESO isn't worth a sub.  It would have to be a pretty amazing title to get my sub dollars today and there just aren't any great games out there, or on the horizon.

I probably have played my last sub game ever at this point, perhaps my last MMO ever.

Played: UO, EQ, WoW, DDO, SWG, AO, CoH, EvE, TR, AoC, GW, GA, Aion, Allods, lots more
Relatively Recently (Re)Played: HL2 (all), Halo (PC, all), Batman:AA; AC, ME, BS, DA, FO3, DS, Doom (all), LFD1&2, KOTOR, Portal 1&2, Blink, Elder Scrolls (all), lots more
    Now Playing: None
    Hope: None

^_^  I totally recommend black raspberry bushes to anyone who has some unused backyard space in an appropriate climate (bottom parts of canada down through the virginias, anywhere it's relatively wet).  They'd probably grow in europe, though I'm not sure if plant nursery's there sell them.  Here in pennsylvania any few acres of unowned or neglected woods or brush along a highway is likely to have some you can just dig up and take home.  The great thing about black raspberries is that they are hardier than red raspberries, sweeter than blackberries, and take very little care (watering them when they are making fruit, removing dead canes at the end of the year).  From about 4 bushes you can have all the fruit you can eat for 3 weeks; plant two in sun and two in shade to stretch that window longer.

(One disclaimer - I don't recommend these thorny plants to anyone who is a hemophiliac or has immune-system problems, due to the commonness of mild scratches while picking berries.  Or, you know, people allergic to berries probably also shouldn't grow them, lol.)

I want to help design and develop a PvE-focused, solo-friendly, sandpark MMO which combines crafting, monster hunting, and story.  So PM me if you are starting one.

I will sub to ESO once they get stability and FPS issues worked out in Cyrodiil. I'm glad they are taking steps to make the VR experience more fun and rewarding.

Fixed because combat, crafting, gathering, economy, housing, ventures, gardening and roleplay are all facets of gameplay and are all very very different.

If you're looking for a PVE focused themepark, FFXIV all the way. It looks and plays nice, and if you are a FF fan you'll just love the atmosphere.

Neither. Would give ESO a try if group activities become more productive and they added persistent battlegrounds for non-veteran rank players ala DAoC. I have no interest in playing anymore PvP where players are boosted or reduced to a single level as if they would magically become relatively competitive with one another.

    Thank you all again...

I played them both at different times, and quit. Was kind of missing them....

I guess I'll just stay with Guild Wars 2, Rift, Defiance, and at times Neverwinter....

    Thanks again.

Ffxiv for me. No inclination to delve deeper into ES games, burnt out during Oblivion. Although I wouldn't actually subscribe. I suspect it's too much like WoW, I'd last a week if that.
  • AmjocoAmjoco Member UncommonPosts: 4,860
I put quite a few hours into both of them and do not currently subscribe to either, nor will I in the immediate future. I usually go back to these types of titles after a few months and see if there is any significant changes that would keep me.
