The new patch 1.2 for ArcheAge has a theme. The theme is speed, or you can say streamlined. Someone pointed out in a past stream it, took me around 4 hours to get to level 20. I did a stream last night live it took a little over three. And I really noticed the difference from the start.
To begin with mobs were weaker. And we now hit faster with our cool downs across the board being shorter. This basically means quicker dps. But the negative to this is more mana consumption. Which by the way was nerfed. Because now spirit doesn't give mana regen anymore. It only affects healing power. This makes now builds like my Paladin Build mana starve faster.
With that said I've been told at higher levels defense is no longer needed. So I maybe able to switch that tree out for something else. Either more dps or something to address the now larger mana consumption. I'll work it out I'm used to companies nerfing builds I like.
A few other things to note;
Fishing is now faster,
Mining is easier and more nodes are everywhere
Gladiator 1v1 pvp was added "WOOT!"
Quest now give gear for your level. Remember how it used to give you gear 3-4 levels higher than you? WTF?
Over Leveling an area means more now. You get a damage buff against lower enemies
Exp gains during war pvp. I don't know why it didn't from the start.
No more freebie gear "sad face"
Ok the last thing I'll get on is the cash shoppy part of the patch.
Patron was activated for this patch. And it offers increased Labor regen 10 per 5 minutes online. And 5 per 5 minutes offline. Also it gives 10% extra exp gain. Both are pretty meh because some people don't care about trade skills. So labor points won't be an issue for them.
But here's where it gets a little handcuffed. Without Patron you can't really own land. Because without Patron you can't pay taxes on the land. This may bother people big time who like that part of the game. But can't afford the Patron fees. Another thing is bag space is now cash shop bought. It used to be in game gold bought. Now you need tickets for it. I'm hoping these can be bought somewhere else besides the shop. If not that's a bit.....yea.

It baffles me that you know so much about the new patch yet you somehow didn't read anywhere that you can buy patron from the auction house with ingame money.
Also bag slots sold on the cash shop is common in today's games, gw2 does the same. I was actually surprised to see the russian AA not going that way. I hoped it didn't go in the cash shop as it's quite important to have bag slots with a game like AA; but oh well i kinda expected them to do it at some point.
I haven't jumped in on the ArcheAge hype yet, but I'm considering it.
I don't want another cash shop driven MMO, however. I fear that's kinda the way the market is going...
Is this game really a AAA MMO? Or is it just another 'grinder' with a N.American companies blessing?
DUCK TALES, OH-WO WOOOO
It baffles me that some people still think that everything in a game which cost millions of $$$ to develop and maintain can and should be for free.
Wonder what you would say if your boss comes to you and demands you working for free because well, he likes it!
Ah you don't have a boss because you are stuck in whatever school you still linger? Too bad I can't see your faces at the first encounter with Real Life (tm).
I'm still confused as to why people want to waste 150$ to "test" a game that you can hop on to the russian version with a proxy and an english patch and do it for free?
BTW: for people who still think this is something very "unique and special" try the russian version first its the same sh!t. For numbers, the russian version started with 4 servers, and ended up with 24 or 25 because all of them ( all 25 ) were full on launch. Now, ALL of them are on 1/3-1/2 population.
Great summary. In my experience I have noticed the mobs harder. Pre 1.2 I was face rolling through mobs at two levels above me. It was making PvE very boring. Post 1.2 I can barely hold on to equal level mobs. I agree with the Mana changes. I never ran out before, but have to manage it now. Meaning I die more which equals more challenge for me. I like it.
One detail that stuck out, the triple slash on battlerage is now automatic, where before I could time each swing for greater DPS. So yes I agree they want it to move must faster.
I feel gear isn't handed out at all or at least not as much. I'm level 12 still with mostly level 1 gear where pre 1.2 I literally geared up through questing. Mobs used to drop equipment and that seems to be removed or severely reduced. Now mobs dorp coin purses so potentially you get more gold.
They also changed the skills. Some skills have switched with skillset it was a part of. For example, multi shot has moved from shadowplay to archery. Also some skills which were unlocked with under 10 skillpoints have moved to 10+ skillpoints meaning you have to wait to get those skills.
The cash shop for me was available to look at but you couldn't interact with it. I still dont know what will be in there, but I also dont care because I dont believe in P2W. But maybe because I've never experienced it. I'll let you know if I do.
Overall I feel they are trying to add PvE things without adding PvE things. There's probably PvP stuff that changed but AA will be my first time PvPing so I wouldnt know.
I think ArcheAge is worth the time and money spent. I even have to say that at 50 before the 1.2 patch I was pretty bored, but now I'm having more fun and more to do than before...
AA is not cash shop driven, but there is one of course offering a lot of 'time boost' items. There are 2 items however that could make it a bit P2W though. One is a certificate to sell a property (even your bound scarecrow garden!), and the other is a certificate that allows you to make a HUGE (24x24) scarecrow garden from the large (16x16) one. Recipes are already there in the game, but the cash shop is not implemented and honestly I am waiting for the cash shop to be implemented to test it and see how much P2W is in there...
An AAA MMO? Yes and no. It uses CryEngine3, but when you look at certain details you see that textures are low ress and such. But what does AAA have to do with enjoying a game you play..?
Then do yourself a massive favour and go do some reading and watch some youtube vids...
*cough* In Gw2 you can exchange gold for cash shop currency *cough*
Stop giving bullshit examples. kkthx
This must be a bad joke.
So, i pay the monthly fee but then need to spend more real Money in inventory space?? Serious?
This change come from Trion CS, or was from XLGames? I played in RU and wasnt this way.
Increase Inventory space is a must have in AA, unless now we start with much more space then was befor.
As far as i know we dont pay a monthly fee to have acess to full game features in GW2.
In AA im ready to pay the monthly fee, but then i need to go shopping for other "must have" features?
In RU was correct, pay the monthly fee and then shop had some itens that is completed optional, never saw there a "must have" ones, and inventory space is a must have one.
But you don't need as much inventory space now the mobs only drop purses that stack, so only 1 slot.
And other things stack in 1000's that used to be only 100's.
Some consolation
