I've been playing the game and I love it. Best MMO in many many years in my opinion. That said, like any game, it's not perfect. A lot of the issues listed above are not accurate, however. A lot of the complaints on the forums are simply people failing to adjust. Mages are not OP, Archers got a needed buff and are well balanced now, as are melee classes. The mana regen is a bit of an issue, though. There's no denying it. However, there are new foods in the game specifically to address this, but the playerbase has not yet managed to sort it out so prices are a bit high for them on the AH.
My only real gripe with the game is the leveling grind. The leveling consists of grinding quests which are standard and boring. You can get a lot of experience from crafting and generally spending your labor points, but it's not a valid alternate leveling path as the limited amount of LP you have takes time to regenerate. Spending all of your labor, if you have the max cap, will get you over a level, sometimes close to 2. That said, max level is definitely not necessary to enjoy the game. I've been going out and exploring and PvPing since around level 30. You can acquire a fast ship fairly early and head out to transport trade packs or do some pirating with a group of friends without being anywhere near max level. There's also no artificial barriers in pvp based off level. You don't miss 50% of your attacks on someone because they have you beat by 3+ levels. I've seen extremely skilled players take down attackers with 10 or more levels on them on many occasions.
Even with the grind being tedious at some points, I've still leveled 2 characters to cap, one on each server, and am having a blast with the game. It's the kind of game, I feel, where you don't necessarily feel rushed to hit max level, so you can enjoy yourself along the way and take in all of the well fleshed out systems the game has to offer; and there are many.

True
I was very interested back when i heard about AA for the first time, but now it feels already old. Too much time passed to launch in the west imho.

What do you mean? It is out. You can pay and play it.
It takes one to know one.
They might call it closed, but it is open "beta". So you were right the first time.
