Mid and end-game crafting requires you to deliver trade-packs to the hostile lands which usually ends up in PVP because people want to steal your packs and turn them in themselves. So it is best to bring friends or be very sneaky.
Please don't tell lies... Those tradepacks need to be delivered to the other continent. It's never said you MUST use a pack form YOUR continent and go to the ENEMY one. I have been doing traderuns the other way around and make the tradepack on the ENEMY continent (pretty safe I have to say!) and bring it back to MY OWN continent to trade it in. Though not 100% safe, it's close to 100% safe, much like donkey-sub used to be to Sanddeep before the 1.2 patch
One personal issue I have is not thinking out of the box enough with these games, never occurred to me to do trade runs in reverse like, this, and I must say, what an excellent idea.
I haven't been playing the alpha for a few weeks because there wasn't much more I wanted to learn prior to launch, but this is something I'll be logging back in and trying.
Question, do you include stealth in your build to pull this off, or do you stay in the open?
Thanks for sharing this.
My build indeed includes shadowplay to pull this off. Though so far there has only been one time that I really had to use it (using it constantly in enemy territory though) because the specialty workbench was kinda taken by enemy players. Stealth also comes in handy when you're sailing on your way back to your continent and you spot a hostile ship - unsommon ship, go stealth, dive and they won't find you (which I already had to use trice).

Hmm what made it overpriced lets see The game,$75 in coin for cash shop,3 months patron, Alpha/Beta access, and over $30 in in-game gear at level one hmm no more over priced than any collectors edition .
Two factions on two large islands with some ocean in between them.
At start race to grab a piece of land. Grow/raise things on it. Meanwhile Grind up in level.
Craft item from grown/raised items. Get on ship and perilously try to make it across the body of water safely, avoiding pirates to eventually sell it for more profit due to risk/reward.

It is overpriced when you just want to play closed beta to find out that game is not for you.
Not related, but I wonder what these collector editions will cost after launch? The same price would be overpriced, methinks.
Don't let the usual hysterical interweb posters scare anyone. The patch changes ARE welcome to anyone that cares about the long term health of the game.
There isn't any content behind a pay wall ... that's just a bizarre statement.
The glider turbulence (which is only over the ocean) was needed because glider gank squads were making ship to ship combat non-existent. It didn't matter if you had a warship or a rowboat, just if there were more people on gliders than on your ship.
Material recipe changes to crafting recipes ... umm, yep that's it. The horror.
Level 55 content introduced without moving the level cap to 55. Again, its just an inconvenience. The semi-valid part of the complaint is that this rearranged some skill trees so people can't make their uber build until the cap is raised. If the 55 level content in the 1.2 patch was not included then people would be complaining about that, too. Its not like level 55 mobs are running amok through the newbie zones.
Gilda changes, these took away gilda from safe runs within your own faction's continent. You have to play the game and trade packs overseas to get gilda rewards now. They also added guaranteed gilda rewards to the daily quests, so you can do those if you want to stay safe. This was needed because the Korean economy was wrecked by the easy/safe initial release version of trading. We also haven't seen the adjustment patch by Trion for this.
Labor changes, essentially more things take labor now. People in alpha were used to a certain way of playing. It doesn't exist anymore. Instead of adjusting their gameplay some are complaining, which is normal for any mmo. Labor regenerates, no one is forced to purchase a labor potion.
Exactly - I read the official ArcheAge forums (and a lot of poster here) - who are not realizing that the current 1.2 patch has NO westernized gameplay changes that Trion had in alpha before the last patch - those are coming later and it's right in the patch notes (that very few read).
Read the patch notes people - see that right under Known Issues at the top:
"The following patch notes do not include Trion’s custom gameplay changes, which will appear in an upcoming Beta candidate build. "
And if you actually played the game, you would realize most the trion changes are in the game. Sometimes I wonder if Trion actually knows whats in the game or if they are even playing it.
- Addition of Gilda Star traders to cross-continental trade routes.
This is in. 1 gilda star per package for east/west trade (previously 2-4). 4 gilda for freedrick (previously 5-7).
- Adjustment of stolen trade pack split from 40% turn-in value returned to creator down to 20% returned to creator.
20/80 is in, just turn a pack in made by someone else.
- Additional Gilda Stars granted through sub-level 30 PvE relative to sailboat and small house costs.
Haven't replayed sub 30 content to test this one
- Removal of Bounty Hunter Cloak Arrest and Instant Judgment abilities.
This change is in and now bots are safe to run around the protected area. Their new method is running tradepacks.

I bought the alpha pack. I'll sum up this MMO.

Rinse/repeat. Welcome to Archeage.
