Returning after break - getting "there are no valid service accounts" error when trying to update cl

EleeriEleeri Member UncommonPosts: 18

I downloaded game from here: http://www.finalfantasyxiv.com/playersdownload/na/

After first launcher installation i login and i got

"there are no valid service accounts" error every time and game will not update at all.

I have Square Enix and FF14 account with Old FF14 Collector Edition (first crappy version), i played free month then quit. There is no subscription set and it says account 'inactive' when i login to mogstation... but i can see my bonuses and my char...

Is this a reason why i cant UPDATE THE CLIENT? Plz dont tell me that they require subscriptiopn to update the client to newest version...

I dont want play today i just wanted to update before i will play next week. but game dont cooperate. :)

Yes you need a subscription to update the client. Sorry :(

Heh one of the biggest and saddest jokes in my MMO history. Good that they dont charge you for installer download and login to acc management.

    Thx for answer.  Case closed.

you will be able to update it during the welcome campaign weekend, it should have been this weekend but got pushed back and so you are looking next week or the week after. during this event, you will not need to renew subscribtion.

Hardly, if you dont intend to subscribe, why would you need to update your client?

Oh nice. Thx for info. Even better with free weekend because i will check whats new and whats changed for free. Thanks again!

Sub requirement for updating client was also in old FF? Its not really customer friendly lol. Why they even have download page then that is not hidden via sub/accmanagement? To allow ppl install 100MB launcher and look at news in it? heh.

But whatever - i will wait till free weekend and will check the game then.

"Hardly, if you dont intend to subscribe, why would you need to update your client?"

To have it fully updated and playable (ready to play) in the same second that i will have mood to sub and play. Its that hard to understand?

"ehh im bored and i have free evening i think i will sub to FF14 and  play for couple hours today!"

ehh.. no! fuk you because we dont allow to update our precious client without sub so you must now download 15GB of data and maybe you will have cleint ready tommorow morning.'

    100% fun.

But like i say its not rly worth discussion (at last from my side).

So downloading the game is actually part of your subscription time?

I actually think downloading patches should not need subscribtion, should have updated game, THEN ask for user name and ID

hmm I don't know maybe so that you don't have to wait to start to play once your subscription is back on and faced with a large download all at once. I often keep my clients up to date on most of my MMO's that way when I get the urge to play I can just sub and hop straight on instead of waiting 2 hours depending on the patch sizes.

It is different from a lot of other games in this respect.

I decided to resub. Waited until late evening, subbed and left it to download overnight. Ready to play when I got back on this morning. Not a big deal really.

It's 2014, what internet speed do you have? I have 60mbp. I DL super fast. The game file did'nt even take 2 hours. Even patch 2.3 only took 40 minutes.

I don't see the problem. But it does seem stupid to update a game you have no intentions on playing.

P.S. Also you could use the free weekend to update for free.
