I really don´t recommend this game. I check it out because my friend said great mod game like NWN, but really it´s not even average, and I know is alpha but this game seems boring - not much rpg feeling so far.

till now, there is only many promises - as always lol

Divinity Original Sin just came out and I bought it and really it has all the editor feature this game want to have 2016!!!

And who knows if they can ever top that..?

We had this come up on the official forums, too. We think Divinity: Original Sin is fantastic, but DMKano is right that it's a really different game from Shards Online.

Here's what  Derek "Supreem" Brinkmann has said in the official forums on the comparison:

Divinity is a cool game but aside from the fact that its a fixed isometric RPG with custom player content we don't have much in common.

    1. Divinity has only coop multiplayer, it does not have 128+ player per game world support like Shards will have.

    2. Divinity does not have a persistent world. It is a story based game where you go through it from start to end. There is no start to end in Shards.

    3. The custom player content in Divinity is focused around creating campaigns. In Shards, players can create entire worlds. Also, as Omedon pointed out, players can not drive content in real time (DMing).

    4. In Divinity, Housing is an afterthought and basically an instance where you keep your stuff. In Shards, your home is a piece of the game world you can call your own and is a core feature of the game.

There are many more differences, but I wanted to highlight some of the key ones.

If you'll check the development map, you'll also see that Shards Online is in pre-alpha--this is the phase where normally the game would not be available to the public at all, as it's an in-house prototype with almost nightly builds being created.

That being said--no hard feelings if Shards Online isn't what you're looking for :)  Check back anytime to see how it's going.
