Just imagine you stole it from an Orc if it bothers you.
Lordy, everyone was mad that they thought it would end up a cash shop mount and mount and now that's it's free they are STILL mad cause you have to be subbed to get it.
Did you really think they'd give it to people who aren't subscribed?! Lol
You cant ride it as alliance only as horde!
Edit : But also, the competition still needs to have a sense, of course you don't give anything to the one that does not win! We are not kids anymore, we can understand even if frustrating.
Worst for me i don't even play anymore, i lose the mount completely. I am not ready to put another sub in the game yet and probably wont before next year!
I really don't see what Blizzard gained by alienating half their playerbase. I think this competition is going to go down in the Top 5 video game marketing flops of all time, beating out /pizza by a landfall.
This. And it's even worse. Cause they don't just alienate the Alliance playerbase, but all Horde players who feel forced to resub before 9/30/2014 just to get the mount
Aiming low might end with shooting in your own foot. At least it may push the sub numbers enough for their next conference call to look not that bad
Well, there are a lot more Horde players as well. So it's smart business to target the bigger playerbase for their money, and then cause enough commotion to get free publicity since the Alliance characters get nothing.
If you ask me, it would be smart business to target them all But not trying to alienate any group of paying customers is the least standard for smartness i could accept. Blizzard failed in both cases .....
But like I said: maybe it's just to push their sub numbers a bit to their advantage for the next conference call. They show their sub numbers with the deadline 9/30/2014. Who knows, maybe more horde players have unsubscribed, so giving them an incentive to resub helps more. Not very likely (cause it was a community vote), but still not impossible. And in that case not quite as dumb ....
I'm super surprised that nobody truly brought up the motivation to this:
Between now and Sep 30th is Q3 2014!
What's that mean?
It means that they're using this as a ploy to get people to resubscribe for the quarter, thus increasing their average subscription numbers. This helps their Q3 Quarterly report look good to investors and shareholders alike by making it look good to the media as well.
Regardless to the offer I have always felt that no modern style of machine should be in Warcraft and frankly cheapens the game. I honestly can't see why they didn't go down the 'War Chariot' route instead of Motorbike and side-car.
To me this sort of 'crap' ruins the illusion of a fantasy mmo and makes you feel genuinally stupid and embarrassed playing it.
If you need petrol you need oil....where are the oil fields etc... I see no garage in Orgrimmar or Orc mechanics.....but of course right from vanilla you get a horse / mount from a stable etc
Just ridiculous and pantomime and doesn't match the new WOD direction where everything seems more medieval and magic. It's akin to entering an Ogre's cave killing everything insight and finding the Boss at the bottom in a Bone Arm-Chair watching a wooden framed plasma who then turns round embittered and enraged and starts hurling huge bowls of popcorn at you.
I found watching blizzard developers in 'American Chopper' screaming like WWF wrestlers cringeworthy and beneath their intellectual status. I think they need to pull their socks up give themselves a slap before they start roaring a 'hell yeah' over 'my little pony'.
From Bukk24: "Regardless to the offer I have always felt that no modern style of machine should be in Warcraft and frankly cheapens the game."
LOL! XD Imagine the horror die-hard lore fans of Mabinogi had when they added SCOOTERS last year!! (Mabinogi is supposed to be a world based loosely on epic Ancient Irish Poems/lore, and medieval style in general).

Hehe, every time you think it can't get worse ....
It's free for current subs... no problem here. not sure why every ones getting butt hurt, just cus you played WoW a while back and not currently subbed does not entitle you to the item as you've not been supporting the game. And no one is forcing you to resub, we're all a bunch of entitled freaks nowadays.
And you cannot get it at all without a subscription in a certain timeframe. So it's not about being subscribed. It's more about when you are
It doesn't make any difference if you are subscribed the whole time anyways. But many players canceled their subscription because of the content gap at least until 6.0 is hitting. For these players it's 15 bucks only for that mount (granted the patch isn't out till then). And if this mount will come to store you'll probably pay this month (indirectly) nontheless and an extra fee. So better expect a hefty price tag on it for that case. That's what I'm trying to say ....
The winged guardian cost money... You have to have a subscription AND pay for it to be able to use it.
The trike is free, you pay nothing for it. not even a in-game copper coin. It is free of charge, not a single cent will be charged for it during this period.
Your subscription otoh will ofc cost you but if you are not playing the game what use of a mount do you have.
Sure you will save perhaps 5 $/eur compared to waiting if you do not intend to play the game. But you are still not paying for the mount... You are paying for a subscription for the game.
Not a very complicated concept now is there.
Then again i have no doubt that there are a huuuge amount of people that will get a subscription just to get the mount... But that does not change the fact that the mount it self is free.
Lol, really. I don t play WOW anymore, but I deserve a FREE item. What is wrong with people nowadays. I m unsubbed for a couple summer months, but my account had 21 hours left when I noticed this. Not that it matters, I would have subbed in September again anyways. That said, if you don t play the game, and didn t plan on it till the x pac comes out, oh well, too bad so sad.
I think its not fair trying to make people subscribe to get the mount until september 30th. The Horde won the competition so i believe anyone who plays Horde should get the mount whenever they want to go back to the game, not before September 30th.
Blizzard really needs to remove that time frame limitation. As the contest winner, EVERY horde player is a winner and should get the mount at any time they log in again, even after the expansion is out.

Let's take the faction mounts as free ingame mounts. Does it matter when you are subscribed to get them? No? Well, that is an example for a free mount I can agree with. Cause you can't use them when you aren't subscribed. But they are always there waiting for you to subscribe and use them then. Same with achievement mounts. You can get them (with limitations) every time you are subscribed.
The horde trike IS different. Not that easy to see and the concept is maybe a bit more complicated. But at the end this thingy is different from most really free mounts ingame.
Look, this mount is similar to bundled offers. You can also read their offer as: "Subscription for Septembre includes a free mount". Or maybe: "Get a mount for 15 bucks. Playtime for the month of purchase is free". Or similar things. Cause it's bundled. That's the difference. A limited time offer for all that wouldn't subscribe otherwise. You can't have one without the other. So not that free as it may seem unless you are subscribed the whole time anyways. It's just a fishy marketing trick in my eyes. And it works as it seems
Did you even watch the web series and see the contest? What is the point of the competition if there is no winner. I play Alliance and Horde so my cheeks aren't awash with butthurt tears.
Here's the problem: A lot of the people complaining at the moment didn't even know a competition had happened. They had either resubbed in the last month, had taken a break, or just weren't interested in choppers... so they didn't find out what the contest was about.
Out of context, they log onto the main site one day and read: "Claim your Chopper!!!"... think "ooo, free stuff..."... and check it out only to read it's a Horde Only mount.
Their response if they are an Alliance player: "Well fuck you very much Blizzard."
That's not even withstanding the Alliance players who did know about it and were just as pissed on day 1 of the competition as they are now. The forums were flooded with: "Great - Horde gets a free mount. Shocker." before the first episode even aired.
Blizzard, over the years, has done a lot to diminish the Alliance faction. Cataclysm and Mists of Pandaria were basically dedicated to telling the Horde story and barely found space for Alliance to even interract with them. Horde storylines involved the gradual corruption of Garrosh, the strife within the factions - fascinating shit - while Alliance were just hit with meaningless quests and bad pop culture references again and again.
And now... we get a new expansion on the horizon: The Hordelords of Hordeland.
Dedicated, passionate Alliance players are just kinda raw in general at this point - the last thing Blizzard needed to do was run a contest that kicked them while they were down.
From Bukk24: "Regardless to the offer I have always felt that no modern style of machine should be in Warcraft and frankly cheapens the game."

I think we can all safely say that as long as alliance doesn't end up get something like this we are all winners.
Nice try but if blizz wanted to have a real contest they should have one for the type of bike - the winning one will be offered to both alliance and horde not show their obvious horde favouritism once again. This chopper is only making me thing if I should buy WOD since is clear that blizz favours horde and their stupid "blood and honour" coming from a race of filthy pigs.Yes,I only play alliance .

its clear you favor alliance and that is fine. However, your comment shows that If Alliance had won and you were a horde player you would have said the same thing about Blizz favoring Ally instead. Some people really dont think before speaking. Like others said already, the community voted, Blizz didnt.... and Horde won because more people voted for them. I play both Alliance and Horde so i cant complain about winning or losing here.
Im personally upset about the time limitation to get the mount. They are completely killing the purpose of having a winner in that competition by only offering the prize to people who subscribe before Sept. 30th

No, the vote should have been about the type of bike and not about faction. Two theme bikes, the one voted the most should have been available to both horde and alliance. I agree with you on time limitation ,just another way of blizz pushing players to subscribe again. The horde bias is quite clear from lore, not only is Garrosh escaping punishment (instead of being killed he is sent to trial, lol could it be more pc than that ? ) but all this is used for a horde themed expansion ? Anyway is not like I was ever interested much in wow lore,it's full of cliches at best and unlike Warhammer, wow orcs are not even funny.Too bad wow was made after warcraft 3 and not warcraft 2,less pc orcs more fun. I don't care about bike, I have enough mounts and right now I don't have a sub to wow anyway - I just don't like the developers bias towards horde , losing Southshore to horde after all the battles there it was worse than a mount less to collect.

Oh fear not this will end up in the cash shop in the end together with the Ally bike...
No way they would pay for all the concept work and production just to have one faction get a mount...
So my bet is... get it noe and get it free or get it later and pay a fee.
This have been a good conversation
Yeah, this is probably what will happen. I have to disagree though that it's free now, cause you still need an active subscription. So it's more like:
get it now and get it for the subscription price or get it later and pay a fee extra on top of it
i meant the bike it self is free... You can not use it at all without a subscription.
I am thinking we will see a very epic charity auction on this years BlizzCon... .. . =P
