I received an email this morning, 5 hours ago, from ESO asking me to participate in a survey - directed at those like myself who played the beta but didn't buy it.
I thought it was a good game but not enough to my tastes for the price so figured I'd do the survey for them. But I clicked on the link (which included my email address in the url) and it said the survey was over - a mere 5 hours after opening. Then I clicked on the privacy policy link on that page and it was a dud link which timed out.
So was this a real survey or has some dodgy marketing company just been given my email address?

I blog sometimes. http://kibitzknook.blogspot.com/
if i remember correctly back when the game was in beta, the game client installed the survey for me. So if you just got an email.... im not sure, i would delete it to be safe. The survey was for the beta development anyway, and the game is already out.
Somebody is trying to phish you....... swim for your life!
i mean the details look legit... it's from the same mailing address that i have recieved official stuff from ESO before
it's hard to say really, i'd be willing to bet that the survey just didnt work, like their game.
it's not about beta development.. it's "we see you tested it in beta, why didnt you buy it"
Indeed - though as potential phishing lines go that's a pretty safe one. You could point at just about any MMO released in the past 10 years and I probably tried the beta but didn't buy it.
Though like you said the header info (which I checked before clicking the link) looks legit.
Here is the email. Im pretty sure its real. They just dont have the subs to keep the game running at the moment and trying to pick up some more people.
They have been sending out legit survey via email, every since the end of beta.
There's a few of them, and most likely the one you got is legit (i haven't heard of any scam cases yet).
They're honestly just trying to figure out what to do with their game from the looks of things. They've seen all the negative backlash, and are making an effort to fix / improve things. Not sure how much it will matter in the end, but if they can get their crap together, ESO might actually turn into a decent game.
Same here, nine hours after I got the e-mail it said it has expired. I guess they weren't to interested in the results of this survey considering it was only up an hour or so, if that long.
You forgot to hide your email address. Now everyone has it....
I got one as well.

Survey and mail are legit.
People receiving them was a glitch
Riiight, because 800k subs (2nd or 3rd largest sub only mmorpg) wont do.
Might be somewhere around 1 mill now, post steam release. Here's the Patch 1.3 trailer (live in a week or two) incase you missed it. Here's what's coming. You can do a lot with a healthy player base
So is Wildstar according to the article...I dont believe that either.
You just made that up. I wouldn't expect you to believe it.
Have you actually played any of these MMOs and if so did you believe you were really online?
Denial is always the first stage.
If you read the article where you go the 775k estimate you would be able to read at the bottom where Wildstar is doing good and keeping up with ESO. Its from the same article.
No it doesn't... You made that up. Why are you citing a source you don't believe anyways?
didnt forget, didnt care enough to hide it...
