So how many of you are holding out for pc?

BreshaBresha Member Posts: 65

Im thinking of holding out for a PC version.

I dont like the idea of playing MMO's or Hub games on consoles.Plus I dont like that all populations are confined to what console you have.

I'd think that PC would be pretty popular though.Anyone else holding out?

Will not touch without a PC version to play.

Due to frequent travel in my youth, English isn't something I consider my primary language (and thus I obtained quirky ways of writing).  German and French were always easier for me despite my family being U.S. citizens for over a century.  Spanish I learned as a requirement in school, Japanese and Korean I acquired for my youthful desire of anime and gaming (and also work now).  I only debate in English to help me work with it (and limit things).  In addition, I'm not smart enough to remain fluent in everything and typically need exposure to get in the groove of things again if I haven't heard it in a while.  If you understand Mandarin, I know a little, but it has actually been a challenge and could use some help.

Also, I thoroughly enjoy debates and have accounts on over a dozen sites for this.  If you wish to engage in such, please put effort in a post and provide sources -- I will then do the same with what I already wrote (if I didn't) as well as with my responses to your own.  Expanding my information on a subject makes my stance either change or strengthen the next time I speak of it or write a thesis.  Allow me to thank you sincerely for your time.

You dont have to worry about population, its kind of like ESOs mega server.

    http://www.gameinformer.com/b/features/archive/2013/12/06/the-matchmaking-technology-of-destiny.aspx

You have all of these examples of people who are doing big server cluster things like World of Warcraft or something like that. But we didn’t really want to do that, because if you think about those kinds of games, you’ve got a centralized server that’s simulating everything in the world, but that can only scale up to some number of players. Maybe it’s 1,000. Maybe it’s 5,000. Maybe it’s 20,000. You compare that to the population of a console game and it’s tiny.

So what that means is that you have to have dozens or hundreds of these separate servers. So we started out by thinking, “We want to have a single world that everybody can be in.”

We took this mesh-based networking that we’ve been developing for years and years with Halo and adapted that networking to work in a seamless interconnected world full of other players and AIs. So when you’re playing a destination you’re moving from area to area and every one of those areas has got this mesh networking with a group of players that are in it at this one time. And then it has its own servers for that particular area so you’re continuously moving around between these groups of both consoles and also dedicated servers that are hosting it.

That’s the thing that I’m really excited that we’ve been able to do because I think it’s been really hard for us. And I don’t really think anybody else is going to be able to pull it off in the timeframe we’re talking about on consoles.

How does this mesh-based network play out in the game?

What happens is everybody in the world can play together. There aren’t these barriers that are in place. You’re all playing in one connected online world. When you’re moving from location to location you’re always going to have people to play with because there’s this huge population. You never have to go to an area of the world that’s deserted because there happens to be no one here on the server at this time.

I don't play anything on a game system. Some people love them, I don't.

Well getting Destiny for PC is just the same thing? you are confining yourself to just the PC Destiny population.

Anyways I want the White PS4 so preordered it with Destiny bundle. Not a huge fan of the game; but hearing its going to have expansions and dlc for 10yr does sound interesting.

Beta was a little meh; dont see why there is so much hype about game. So much tweet; guess Bungie is really trying ti promote this.

Yes,but Im willing to bet that PC would be one of the more popular versions.

I wouldn't say I'm holding out but, If it comes out on PC I'll probably play it. If it doesn't I wont.

I would agree if it was some other mmo type game but when it comes to Bungie and Destiny, Im willing to bet consoles would have the bigger pop.

tend to agree, there is already a lot of competition in FPS MMO's on the PC, and they don't tend to be 'hub' games either, its this amount of competition that might actually dissuade them from putting their hat in the arena after all, and why i don't personally think that they will be bringing the game to the PC. Its only a matter of time though before some of those games spread to console, or at least the PS4, Planetside 2 for one is one game that will outright destroy Destiny when it hits the PS4, its probably a good thing that the game will not be heading to the XB1, though i have no doubt it will fuel the arguments about which console has the best MMOFPS's image

The devs seem pretty optimistic about bringing Destiny to PC

I am not holding out, but I would play it if it came to pc. Doesn't matter either way to me though, there are many other good titles and more to come to pc. Basically Destiny is not a console seller for me, I thought it was, but after testing, I know it's not.

I won't be able to play on the console so yes waiting for the PC version.

Waiting for a PC and a third-person view.

I'm not inclined to run out and buy one of these "new-gen" consoles for one game.

You should post that on every forum of every game you're not into. That way everyone will know!

I'll wait for PC. They said it was a natural fit so I'm hoping Q1/2 of 2015.
  • codekittencodekitten Member Posts: 59
Is there word that it will be released on PC? I know my husband had it pre-ordered for the ps4 and I'd love to play with him but.. well two tv's and consoles isn't exactly reasonable to me. I'd hold out for a pc version by all means. I do kinda fear that the systems and pc wouldn't be on the same servers though. =/
  • fascismfascism Member UncommonPosts: 428
idk I only have a xb360 im not a big console person I havent even turned it on in a few months but Destiny seems interesting, I wonder if its worth getting on an old console or if the experience will be too compromised.
  • kartoolkartool Member UncommonPosts: 520
I own a PS3, but the load times are so ridiculously long that I can never be bothered to play any games on it even though I have quite a few I'd like to actually play/finish. Needless to say I won't be playing Destiny unless there's a PC release.
  • TheOctagonTheOctagon Member UncommonPosts: 411

I'll wait for it on PC.

I don't need/want a built in aimbot to help me play.

  • VicDynamoVicDynamo Member Posts: 234
The game will sell plenty of copies without a PC version. I'll be playing on the PS4.
  • DarkcrystalDarkcrystal Member UncommonPosts: 963

I can see people think consoles are like the old days.. The fact is the new consoles are like a PC now a days... I do not understand plus why wait for PC version  most people do not play MMO's together anymore, they would rather solo..

So I like the fact  on my console, way less cheating... The graphics are damn good with next gen, I pre  ordered months ago for my  xbox one. can't wait.. 9 more days/

Personally I was a PC player pretty much since I started playing video games, and only owned 1 console (PS1), till I bought my PS4. I was very excited about PS4 coming out, and Destiny was one of the main reasons. Now I lost interest in MMOs and PC gaming in general, and moved on to PS4 as a platform of my choice. Played both Destiny Alpha and Beta, really enjoyed it, and I feel it'll last me for long time. And even if it doesn't, there are already plenty of games on PS4 that keep me busy. Just bought a second controller, so I can play Diablo 3 and Fifa 14 with my nephew. Personally though, I don't believe in the whole console vs PC war thing. Everyone plays what they like and/or can afford. If it makes you happy, that's all that matters.
