no big secret to getting ganked is do not travel in PvP lands alone. Playjng this game without friends and going into areas where others are just waiting for your lvl 30 butt to come prancing down the middle of the road is just beyond stupid. Go play Candyland or something and save all of us from suffering. Find a good guild, make some friends, don't try and play the game as a solo PvPer. If making some online friends is too difficult then quest in the contested zones when they are green for a few hours each day, farm mine or just go find a nice solo MMO, there are dozens of them

I will never understand how some people can play a moba in a MMO. Instanced arenas are nothing more than worse mobas. Evene though, why does current mmo gamers crave for regulation and instances. Repeating the same arena/battleground etc over and over again. It defeats the whole purpose of the world. A mmo should be about the world, where you experience all kind of stuff.
If you get PKed, so what? That just shows that you werent strong enough. In a open world Pvp setting gear is meaningful, you actually use it. If you cross the world, then there should be danger. What do you do in all these themepark mmos? have you ever revisited an old zone? for what?
Instances destroy the whole purpose of a world map, where the game becomes a lobby. in that case i can play dota 2 as well.

You don't lose gear in the game, its Trade Packs that have value and are fought over. Also there is big misconception about being freely gank and not being able to play which not true you can level 50 and avoid it if you use the war and peace system to your advantage.

Maybe I should have been clearer. The guy I quoted is your typical open world FFA pvp'er. They don't do it for the challenge, they do it for the lulz. Taking people's stuff and griefing them as much as possible is what they are about, not challenges or competition.
