Thinking about building my PC for the first time (never done this before) does this build here look good?

That's not a bad build, really. You could do worse, and a lot of people will. But we can make it better.
Are you planning on overclocking? If not, you could save some money and get this:

If you are going to overclock, then you'd better add a decent CPU cooler. Even then, you could save some money and get this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.1795161
That one also offers a combo deal to make a Core i7 not that much more expensive than a Core i5:

There's no need to pay for the extra speed of a Caviar Black if you're getting an SSD. You could readily get a cheaper 1 TB hard drive. Or for that much money, a cheaper 2 TB hard drive, even, if you need that kind of capacity:

For the amount of money you're spending elsewhere in the computer, I'd get a higher end power supply:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817182071
That's too much to pay for that video card when you can get something equivalent elsewhere for cheaper:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202046
You can save another $5 on the optical drive easily enough:

And you'd also better get an OS license from somewhere.
It's not bad system.
I should as i where you do some more research you can get for 1200$ better system.
Midtower btw is rather small bad ventialted if you gonne get a intel k version and planning on OC make sure you have good cooling.
Your videocard is good but seems bit expensive, i'll bet there are plenty option get that one cheaper or similar videocard.
Hope to build full AMD system RYZEN/VEGA/AM4!!!
MB:Asus V De Luxe z77
CPU:Intell Icore7 3770k
GPU: AMD Fury X(waiting for BIG VEGA 10 or 11 HBM2?(bit unclear now))
MEMORY:Corsair PLAT.DDR3 1866MHZ 16GB
PSU:Corsair AX1200i
OS:Windows 10 64bit
I think that's not really equivalent because DirectCU 2 is really good and quiet cooling compared to most of the coolers available.
I must admit that's just a hunch because I don't know anything about how that Sapphire cards's cooler performs.
EDIT: But if you care about cooling, then you should also a good CPU cooler /EDIT
That build is defenetly a good build and it will play any mmorpg or single player game out there at max setting.
I build mine with similiar parts but 2 years ago so lesser then yours and it plays all mmorpg and single player games at max setting and no overheating.
edit: i missed the cpu cooler i recommand getting one as you have a nice cpu and mobo that can be overclocked nice.
I bought me $30 one and works great. I think was called coolmaster evo 202 or something .

That's a very helpful, constructive and thoughtful reply.
