New Trend Of Korean F2P Scam

SamuraiXIVSamuraiXIV Member Posts: 354

Many hated ArcheAge labor points but looks like that will be the new trend now on....

After decided not to play ArcheAge I downloaded Tera after long time break and started fresh in the newb island, after an hours of gathering right when was about to cap gathering for tier 1 i was stopped by "no more production points".....

Looks like afk a bit you have enough to gather 1-2 more then wait again....

Sucks in my opinion and it's a scam.

So anything you don't like is a scam?

I like the idea, I think it needs more love tho, and should be placed in games from the start.
Gives the social gamers a chance to keep up instead of falling so far behind its pointless, ultimately leaving the game for a new one.

Besides its the social gamers that have the jobs that make the money to spend in the games, so you tryhards can have a game to play.

It does suck and it could be labeled as scam but trust me, you will be seeing that a lot more. They want the monetization of facebook games in mmos.

No anything he has to pay for is. Games should be free and you should never have to spend a dim on them, If they need money they should just go ask their mom for some. That's where all money comes from.

I play sub games and have no problem with scammers but supporting games that are "free" but try to suck more money then a sub game is plain stupid, so all who answered here probably have a insects size brain.

Some random blogger atleast saw these kind of things as "evolution" for MMO's, maybe this evolution could be cool for single player games too.

Cant wait! Just when I'm trying to play ,game asks more money ,amazing ! viva la evolution!

Welcome to the world of F2P games and why I loath them!

Until this day it stil beats me how people keep begging for more games to go F2P in which you end up spending more, then paying a fixed sub that gives you unrestricted Access.

It's no Secret (and there have been plenty reports about it) that the average person spends up to 40 bucks or more a month in a F2P to be able to have the same experience someone has in a sub based game.

You seriously still don't know why almost every single MMO game that started out using the P2P business model exclusively ended up shutting down, going F2P, or F2P + P2W?

I feel bad for some of these F2P games. Rift/Tera/Archeage

They make a quality game and are trying to keep healthy populations by attracting people into the world with it being "free" but then receive hate when Free players aren't able to level as fast or do as much as paying players. But really as a free player, you shouldn't have a right to demand anything, the game doesn't owe you a thing. Either play for free, pay some $, or find another game...

Now Playing: Bless / Summoners War
Looking forward to: Crowfall / Lost Ark / Black Desert Mobile

Thanks for your post OP, I was thinking to download TERA to play it again these days but if they use fb type mechanisms like production points(labour points) no thanks.I don't mind spending money on cosmetic things in f2p games (spent more money in eq2 free to play than during my time being subcribed to eq2 before f2p) but I hate fb way of monetizing games which affect even players subscribed to the game.

Folks you better get used to it.  More & more developers are seeing that that system works in making them more money.  So more & more or going to add it.  So either adjust to it or you will find less and less to play.

hang on a minute...... you are ok with subscription + scam, but not with f2p + scam?

Regardless of payment model, if scamming is involved then the game deserves a swift death and all the culprits behind it being thrown out of the industry.

I played TERA to cap and never found a need to pay a cent.  Mind you, I don't have a problem paying to support a game I enjoy  playing, I just never found a need to do so.  This has been my experience with most F2P games as well.  I guess its just because i don't expect to have the same benefit that players that pay have and I am in no rush to get to end game.  And that is as it should be.  Apparently, I am in the minority in this regard if we are to judge by all of these entitled players with their relentless F2P hate threads.  Its not enough that they are allowed to DL and play the game for free, they are seriously expecting to play the entire game for free as well.  It would be funny if it wasn't so sad.

You get what you paid for. You didn't pay anything. To be scammed you would have to get less for your money than what was advertised.  No scam occurred.

What's with the generalizations lately? This isn't the first post like this you've made recently. People can't have opinions about shady business methods without being cheap, or living off of Mom's dime? I say BS to any post like this...

At least I didn't start to explain the difference between what the ignorant thinks they should get and what they were told they would get.

AA wasn't the first game to require points for crafting/gathering at lead. Forsaken World utilized this system and probably others before it. Asian games are really starting to pissing me off with these point requirements to do multiple things though. Can't do instances unless you have instance points. Can't gather/craft without points. When I first play Dragon Nest, you couldn't dungeon without points and that game has no open world content so.....yeah.

Hmm... points... ok... what about the much lamented vanilla WoW's attunement system ? Points from Asian MMOs are just another form of timesinks but unlike in the west asians like being told up front it will take x amount of time to do it rather than being led around like dogs on a leash following a scrap of crispy bacon.

To get this clear because I just downloaded TERA, when I consume all the crafting points that is it? For more points I have to pay for them?
