They'll probably get a crap ton of users back when WoD comes out. With the stats squish and they ''back to basics'' feel, they might get a quite a few players coming back, specially those who didn't like MoP (like me).
WoW lost a lot to wildstar release which means in a month all of them will be back in WoW as wildstar as I shouted it many times at release is not all that.

This happens before a new expansion. Grinding top gear is pointless as Wow expansions are a complete re-write of their game. They usually make end game easier so casuals can grind out crap but vets simply stop playing and await the new ladder systems to come out. Combine this with taking far too long for content and the dip is large.
Most of these subs will return once the expansion hits. I would bet retention is worse then usual though as it is trending that way for years anyway.

it's steadily going down, that Blizzard game is getting real old now, and they bleed 800k, they gain 500 with WOD and they bleed another 800 after that when they get bored of thet expansion, Rinse & repeat till sub numbers get too low and the cashshow really kicks in to compensate the money before shutdown. But that will take years to come.
It happens to all MMOs.
Real problem though is that Blizzard does not add any new content apart from the "kill 1000 rabbits and return for your reward" x1000.
"going into arguments with idiots is a lost cause, it requires you to stoop down to their level and you can't win"
What blows me away is that most developers would love, I mean LOVE to have at least 800k subs.
WoW can loose 800k and still be way ahead of all the other games out there at the moment.
Very true. They really do continue to do an amazing job with whatever they are doing. I haven't played except for a random month or two for years, but I did pre-order WoD, apparently from the other article on this site WoD already has 1.5 million pre-orders.

Yes, I totally agree. As for my personal opinion its going on 7 months since I stopped subbing after 8 years but I will be back for a month or 2 after WoD drops. It might hook me in or it might not. I betting that I'll be busy with other games. Still gonna revisit though.
The day WOW goes F2P will be the day that our civilization will be promoted from a Type 0 civilization to a Type 1 civilization. That day will be glorious!
I'm not one of the 800.000 since I cancelled half a year ago.
If I had a sub, I would probably log in from time to time to play with some alts and stuff...I really like WoW...but I simply won't pay money to a company which think it's ok to charge a full sub and let more than a year pass between each content update. So arrogant!
I will resub a week before WoD, consider which class to stick to as "main" and play through the expansion until the lack of content updates starts to bother me once again...just like the last 4 expansions...

They bleed more subs than most MMO's have players. It's the same song and dance.
Q3 will be better, the new game shininess will have run out from Wildstar and Teso and people will be back for WoD.
But the vocal haters will just sceam more "WoW is ded! Ded game! long live ((insert next wow-killer that goes f2p))"
I haven't played wow since Cata btw.
nvm
Why should Q3 be better? WoD won't be out.
Easy to envisage an even bigger drop in Q3 followed by a "subs have grown to" number for Q4.
No new content;. Activision have only themselves to blame.

It's WoW. It's like crack and it will always survive no matter what. All MMO's want to be WoW, no MMO's will be WoW yet no MMO's can beat WoW.
The one fact is that there are millions of people out there buying the ne expansion and will be lagging up the servers on the release day.

You stay sassy!
People go outside in the summer and stay inside and play games during winter. If that game will be WoW, I don't know. WoD will boost subs.
In short, WoW is doing better than I thought.

or many games together
All Time Favorites: EQ1, WoW, EvE, GW1
Playing Now: WoW, ESO, GW2
It is no longer worth a sub except to the hardcores.
The game has run its course and is on the inevitable decline.
Hell of a run tho!
FFA Nonconsentual Full Loot PvP ...You know you want it!!
Not really, the top 20+ games all have well above that number.
This isn't a signature, you just think it is.

Obviously.
I mean, it's not like there's actual discussion going on about it or anything...
