If treated like an MMO and not like Skyrim it's great! But...

So I returned to ESO after a break since I at first didn't like it - that was probably bec. I excpected Skyrim Online. Now that I treated as "a MMO" I do enjoy it (though, why do MMOs always have to have you accept thing you wouldn't otherwise...). Thus, yes, I am enjoying myself (again) in TESO.

But one of the things I do wonder about (well, want to rant) are some of the quests. I am playing two chars atm on two different factions. And some of the main quest lines are *exactly* the same. And/or same basics - e.g. on one side it's a plot to kill the king and you save him, on the other side it's the queen. But even worse, are Guild quests. They didn't even change the names. Really? On two (I guess three) different sides there exists the same guild leader sending you on the same quests with the same people involved?

Or am i simply missing something here?

Its the same guild, in each faction, with the same people in it. If they had a different leader of say the Fighters Guild in each faction, a guild which is meant to be through out Tamrial, that would be a bit odd. :)

Same quests? That's reusing material to cut costs. Every gaming house is doing that to the nth degree now, cut and paste to cut costs. Dead Space would be my classic example, reuse the old ship, put it in white sheets and voila, a new ship!

I think its cheap, but get used to it, its here to stay.

I played Skyrim extensively and when you have, you actually see a lot of resemblence in ESO really.

The UI, combat, it feels very much like Skyrim. But Yeah.... there it pretty much ends. Heh.

Actually, it's interesting to see that the game in early beta wasn't that "Skyrim", and more a MMO like WoW Vanilla. They recreated a lot of Skyrim mechanics during the closed beta to use Skyrim's success to sales.

For example, you couldn't pick things in crates/shelves/... You would get cooking ingredients mainly by fishing and by killing ennemies. Also, the quests weren't that phased but they were more group-friendly, levelling was much harder. I know they kind of dumbed down the game to appeal to the casual core, the main audiance of ESO, but I think if Zeni kept the original vision of the game, the game would be less "hated".

You don't want or need to play alts in this game, unless you just want to enjoy the level 1-50 experience as it was originally intended.  Problem is, you'll want to level them up to VR10 which means you'll be forced to do all of the quests in all 3 factions for each character, so the repetition you feel now will be magnified significantly.

I don't believe you get to play the guild quests again in each faction (when on a single character) so that's probably another reason they saw no reason to change up the story line between factions since most people won't see the need for alts between factions)

You aren't forced to quest those areas unless you are determined to limit your content and not pvp. Plus they are getting rid of the vet levels.

I recently rolled an alt. to do all the things I missed by skipping questing post level 10. I also did it for lore/racial reasons.
