As a patron, I have been vocal in my attacks on this nonsense.
However, here's the perfect example.
Yesterday, sold stuff on AH, went to mailbox to get my gold
NO LABOUR POINTS
I needed labour point to open my mail, and had none.
this is just a bad joke now.
(oh noes, I didnt manage my 'allowance' of playtime', sad sad sad ruination of a great game)

Haha wtf?
Need LP to open the mail? Ridiculus!
[mod edit] you can learn not so much to budget your playtime as structure it between LP and non-LP activities to let it build up. Pretty sure you aren't even playing the game as otherwise you'd know it wouldn't even take long to get the LPs required for what you wanted to do and made sure to have downtime activities but hey anything that can be nitpicked will be... I am still laughing my ass off at people bitching to CCP that skill training takes real time.
[mod edit]
Also, it's absolutely SILLY to have to spend LP on little things like opening your mail, identifying quest rewards, etc. Even if they only cost 1 LP. It's the principle of the situation.
As a patron I have been farming and selling stuff on AH to the tune of 50 -75 gold per day and never dropped below 3000 LP and that was on a day I did a lot of mining. You need to go back to a simpler game it seems, this one seems to be too complicated for you

How many hours would you say you played that day?
Need to officially flag these types of Labor Point threads with the beating a dead horse photo.
Seriously guys, get over it, learn to manage your labor points, buy some potions from the cash shop, or ....just don't play the darn game.

This guy is flat out lying, there is no LP cost for opening mail.
And that is the current issue with the LP system. Only people who've played the foreign versions, or dropped $150 for alpha access have extensive experience with it.
From an outsiders perspective it DOES sound like a FarmVille style, money grab energy-esque system. All we have is the words of others. Some say one thing, some say another.
With respect, thats not an issue with the LP system at all is it?
Thats an issue about lots of misinformation being spread around. Why not for example, register on the official forums which costs nothing but a minute of your time and ask the Alpha / Closed Beta testers directly if you have any queries?
Sorry bud calling Bullshit on this one ....lets see a reference to the official Alpha forums where you brought up this topic

I'm also a patron in the CB and noticed I always had at least 2000 LP after farming and mining for a few hours. Then I'd just AFK until kicked for the night and log back in with about 3,000. Why are people making a mountain out of a molehill?
My brother and I first heard about this game in 2010. It was going to be epic! They recruited the "top" players from games like WoW, L2, Vanguard, etc to help coordinate the game's mechanics. They wanted the perfect open-world/pvp exeriance.
Theeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeennnn they flushed it all away with labour points.
4 years of anticipation thrown away with 1 stupid system to keep people from "exploiting the economy".
Could they not just look at EVE as the epitome of player driven economies and Ctrl-C Ctrl-V into AA?
From one beta player to another, my suggestion is to wash your hands of this title and look into games like Albion Online.
It is NOT a molehill - many people DON'T WANT TO PUT OUT THE CASH TO PLAY AN ALPHA RELEASE OF A GAME. You get LP whether you are logged in or not - people who don't pay the piper don't and that is the difference. This game, FREE TO PLAY, should mean just that - not you can be equal to others as long as you throw money down a rat hole.
So it is great you paid the piper but don't say it is no big deal because it is.
It does not cost labor points to open mail, why make things up?
That was in the beta where I played somewhere between 4 and 8 hours each day. That was Saturday where a guild mate needed a lot of mats to level her crafting so I planted and harvested 3 large farm fileds of materials for her in addition to my normal farming and also mined stone to finish my farmhouse. In the Alpha it is damn near impossible to run out of points like the OP suggests he did because the regen rate is twice that of the beta. Only way I could imagine running out of LP on the Alpha is to do it on purpose by mining and processing ore/stone non stop for several hours, even the stupidest player could not do it making an effort

It must suck to live in a world where companies expect to make money by selling a product. This is a AAA title, with a known publisher. It's worth the sub fee just like every.... every.... every other MMO that's come out before it. There's no "cash grab" involved, anymore than there was with games like Ultima Online or World of Warcraft. No one accused those games of this, why accuse this one of it?
Is it the Korean thing? People hear a game comes from Korea they just assume the worst? Is it the word "free" in the payment options? What do you think you'll get for free?
And now for the bit of info that will render this whole thread moot - BEDS. Read up on them. They aren't just cute decorations.
This puts my concerns at ease a bit. I was mostly concerned with how much LP you got as a subscriber (since I'm not planning to play as a F2P user) and how much you could do in that 4-8 hour time period without running out of LP. What's patron status going to be? The standard $15/month?
It's is a big deal indeed ....it looks like the average ALPHA player ended up paying $7.50 a month to play a game 24/7 and you didn't get to do the same for free ....Goes to show you the benefit of throwing money down a rat hole vs belly aching on a forum
Yes patron status is 15 a month. There was very few times that lp was in issue for me also. and those times i just hoped on my boat and explored the world for a little while. and back to no lp problem. towards the end of beta i was capped out most of the time.
Pre 1.2 Alpha player here. Quit at the release of patch 1.2 due to various issues.
In alpha, we had 10 LP per 5 minute regen. I played roughly 5 hours max per weeknight. At least 1/3 of that time spent questing, so no LP spent (money pouches were banked, never opened). Part of the remaining time was split between 2 large farms, usually a mix of turkeys and seed bundles. Once every couple of days I would fish with the saved up worms.
The rest of the time was spent randomly rowing my boat wherever, because I was out of LP.
So, yes, as much as you and others may refuse to believe it, labor points CAN be used up quite easily. Just because it does not affect you does not mean everyone else is the same. Please stop thinking in such a self-centered manner.
On the Alpha and Omega server LP regen at 20 per 5 minutes, so every 15 seconds you gain a point, not sure how you could be out 1/3 of the time.
If you bought the archeum package you also have a ton of Credits you could have bought a Labor pot every 12 hours for 1,000 labor, you get these credits back at release.
If turkeys were too labor intensive because of the five hour grow time switch to water buffalo, day and half grow time each one gives like 45 leather. More bang for the labor point you could say.
The game is built around the idea you only have so much labor a day to spend, for most people as a patron they end up with max labor all the time. There are some players that use all their labor all the time, I'm one of those that play a lot and burn my labor down to zero most days, but it is at the point I end up buying stuff off the auction house like 3,000 pelts and make leather out of them because I'm leveling my leather skill.
Why the heck where you in a row boat, I will have a clipper day two on release?
Trion has said on more than one occasion they are still working on adjusting the labor point system and we will most likely see a change next week.
You should never play in an Alpha if a couple changes from a patch will make you rage quit the game, it is how alphas work, give constructive feedback and see what changes come of it.
That's really weird .... I play with better half most of the time and I'm sure we don't average more than 4 hrs per day , we have 5 farms and one cottage under the family . I actually feel pressure at times to spend LP because I'll look down and notice we have 10k sitting there , our last discussion was me suggesting she made some tax certificates and her telling me she 200 on each character enough for about 25 weeks ....warehouse is full of lumber metal stone and at least 1000 of anything I can farm Just finding it hard to believe anyone could find LP as any sort of issue on a regular basis
F2P games live off of the backs of whales. Whales are players who spend gobs of money on the game. This has been discussed ad nauseum before and It has been discussed in this forum. You obviously don't understand the F2P model. If they gave unique armor, etc. that is understandable. But to gate something that is so important to the game that it actually cripples some of the other players - that is a P2W situation.
