I've voiced my concerns.  If the game runs for you, great.  At this point, let's see how it turns out.

I am trying to wrap my head around this, but I can't seem to find any sort of way of looking at this in a positive light.

I really hope (for their sake's) that they push the release back to fix this issue.  If the game cannot even be launched by this many people (and it appears to be affected a lot of people), this could very well destroy the game's launch.  Gamers have become accustomed to some fairly smooth launches in the past few years.  Sure, there have been hiccups (servers full, being taken down during prime time, queues, etc).  But not being able to launch the game?   What's worst is it appears that they don't know what is causing the issue.

I know there are many who are not affected by this, but every person who is a potentially lost customer.

If I were Trion, I would hold off on any future public beta events until this issue is fixed.  Bad word of mouth spreads like wildfire in the gaming community.

If we are going to exaggerate why stop at vanguard? how about another Anarchy Online type launch?

I didn't play Anarchy Online, Mr. "I just created this account yesterday."

Is that some kind of insult to make me feel bad for not spending time on these forums since 2005?

    Nope.

Since 2005?  It shows your join date as yesterday.  What is the name of your other account from 2005?  Multiple accounts here is against the TOS.

Umm? this is my very first account on these forums. I was talking about your join date.

We all have to start from somewhere right? or you started with 2K posts back in 2005?

I didn't get a memo that i need to have X days old account to comment on your very 'obvious' exaggeration made in terms of launch problems with AA.

No he was talking about your join date OP and that you were making him feel bad for not being on these forums as long.

Anyway, I don't remember the last game without login errors at launch. Not that this excuses any game or AA, I have just come to expect it. Trion are already aware of these issues and will probably patch the launcher at least  2-3 times before release. I don't believe it's going to be a MAJOR issue, although I do predict that of course there will be login troubles for certain players.

Now Playing: Bless / Summoners War
Looking forward to: Crowfall / Lost Ark / Black Desert Mobile

Oh, I read it as he's been here since 2005.  Sorry if I misinterpreted but lack of sleep has me not functioning quite right.

Anyways, sorry, but I am very skeptical of users with brand new accounts that post about stuff that happened on these forums well before their join date.  To me, that smells of "I've been banned before so here's my new account to try and troll before I get caught again" (not saying he was trolling), but I've seen a lot of suspicious accounts over the years that were very obviously duplicate ones.

I highly doubt it is even 3% of players experiencing this issue. My suggestion to anyone seriously interested in this game is to make sure their hardware and software meet the "Recommended" specs and that they start from scratch with their machine by wiping and re-installing the OS. Most issues are due to software conflict, registry corruption, remnants of past viruses, etc. I know a lot of gamers who simply do not know how to maintain their equipment and run the same machine without maintenance for 5+ years. I've never, and I am not exaggerating, never had a game that I couldn't get to launch...it just takes the patience and know how. I also understand that not everyone knows how to work on their own equipment. To them, I suggest you take it to a tech.

The game runs very well, and I've seen no bugs so far.

No problems here since Nvidia updated its drivers. With the older set the DX11 gave me a occasional crash

I am sensing the smoothest launch since LoTRO. I  beta tested Vanguard  almost a yera and would not even purchase Vanguard at release it was such a trainwreck.

    I miss DAoC

I have the same problems i had the last beta test. I opened the game and played till lv 11. i logged off and now it wont load it anymore. im stuck on the word blessing on the poem....AGAIN. same like last time. the game was running like a hot knife through butter. but it wont load damn it. if anybody knows a solution, pls let me know.

At launch Vanguard was unplayable by 90% of players. Atm ArcheAge is unplayable to maybe 5%.

    See the difference?

I'm seeing a lot of distress caused by AA. I think the problem is there, but because some coders dont take into account that many of us use militarized machines with superfirewalls, antiphishing, spamdestroyers and such. We are conspiranoic and prefer do things that way.

But anyway, I think this issue will be fixed sooner than later. It's not such a major problem.

So, though is distressing, let's cool down. It will be fixed. Korean things all have a common denominator: the lack of quality allows it to run in almost all kinds of machines. And this indicator also reveals that their lazy attitude towards crisis solutions tends to be, always, to make things more and more insecure to fit everyone's standards, positioning their code at the lowest  bottom point of view. It's a kind of approachment that skips quality but grants the desired possibility of start running cash shop as soon as possible.

Years of experiencie, so is, tell me that it will be solved with this philosophical view, and they are very good making things run since they see things can go badly in that sense.

    Nothing to worry about, then.

It is a question of fangs.

    OP

umm no not by a long shot..

VG was totally broken upon release and really didnt recover until years down the road..or even if you want to say "recover"

AA has been out for awhile and people have been playing basically the finished game weather they want to admit it or not paying for the bogus label " BETA" or "ALPHA"

first I would suggest using their CS, and tech forums. I had a similar issue back when I first got into Alpha. Within 12 hours of filing a ticket CS had my issue resolved.

try deleting the hshield/ASC folder. For me it was in   C:Program Files (x86)GlyphGamesArcheAgeAlphain32hshield/ASC. Yours won't be in C:/........ archeage/Alpha of course but  you should be able to locate the folder

never have figured out why people go to third party websites expecting tech fixes when the companies have official tech forums....just curious is all

I was going to say just on a bug/crash aspect alone they arent even on the same playing field. I played AA alpha for a month and a half and its no where near as buggy as Vanguard was at launch, let alone Vanguard had the problem that many computers at that time had huge difficulty running it.

I dont have that folder. i only have the asc_dll file. i got no folders in my hshield folder. for your second question, i tried all "official" fixes. they wont help at all. its also not helping for anyone. so i try to expand my audience for this question. like you suggested something new. and lastly, im just a beta tester and not a customer yet.

Done all that.   Still waiting for a response from tech support...as it appears many others are.

Vanguard in its alpha state was as polished as 95% of MMOs are at release.  And it should have been, because it was an actual released MMO

There always going to be problems in small groups of people for any game.  Comparing AA to VG is absolutely ridiculous.

  • HeretiqueHeretique Member RarePosts: 1,536

This is a hackshield problem, nothing more. Hackshield is a crux on games because of how many variables it puts between responsibility on dev/end user. If this was a deeper problem we'd see more evidence from Glyph if it was an actual game launcher problem which could possibly be fixed by Trion. But seeing as most of what people are complaining about shows that it's a exe/post-operation/compatibility issue that needs to be solved by XL Games/HackShield.

Like others, I'd recommend looking at Hackshield solutions. If Hackshield isn't running properly, you're not going to be able to get into the game at all.

One solution that I've provided Alpha players that seem to work for some is running your hsupdate.exe (run as admin) in your hshield folder (archeage).

    Good luck.

  • Astro6Astro6 Member UncommonPosts: 247

Hackshield is prob detecting memory scanning processes you might have a password stealing program running under a rootkit best thing to do would be to backup all important information, zero the drive re-install your OS, install a good anti-virus.

If a malware process is scanning memory locations for passwords it would stop the client from launching, also Glyph is Susceptible to memory based probing, lots of this malware is on facebook in ads, which is why i block ALL ads with adblock plus, noscript and disable java and flash.

Another way would be to have your machine checked by a professional it may be a hardware problem, possible bad ram, overheating ect.

I have been a tech for over 35 years i have seen many problems preventing a game from working.
