I used to play on a 42" LCD. It was great, you have to position a bit farther than usual though. Now i am planning on getting a samsung curved 50" 4K TV, BUT from what I read it's better to wait for 4K tech to work out it's limitations first (like having 30hz refresh rate max).
Originally posted by SEANMCAD I do it the other way around. My PC monitor is also my TV. (actually two monitors)
See, I didn't even know you could do that, should have added that to the poll.
ah well to be clear when I say 'TV' what I mean is Hulu, Netflix, youtube amazon. I get all my 'TV" content from the internet
I get all of my TV content online as well, but I get mine through torrents, then I watch it all on my 82" TV. I can't remember the last time I actually watched anything "live". The Internet is my TIVO.
I play on my PC screen. Isn't there a difference in the clarity, or pixels, between TVs and Monitors? I seem to recall long ago that TVs had a worse picture quality than PC monitors. Is that still true today?
It used to be the case, today most modern TVs can display at the same resolutions as a monitor, in fact, technologically, they aren't that different anymore.
Ever since flat screens, I use a hdmi cable to a computer that is sitting on a card table. I can use the computer and when I'm done I can flip it to TV, kick the computer chair to the side and watch TV from the couch.
When I travel, I do the same with my laptop. Every hotel TV has a hdmi port......It probably pisses off the house keeping that I re arange the room
Hint :
It's best to buy hdmi cables off the internet. They are way longer and less than half the price. Stores only sell Monster Cable brand at $40 for an 8" one........If you ask a sales person for longer they don't know what your talking about. At least a few years ago.
Mostly we watch our 'tv' programs on the PC's, rarely actually use the Tv anymore at all, despite it being a pretty good one, its just more convenient to watch things on PC, certainly don't use the TV for games in any case, although the screen might be larger on the TV, you can't exactly sit right in front of the TV to read text, which in most games, you will have to do, I don't really see how there can be any benefit from playing an MMO on a Tv screen, if you have even a half decent Monitor tbh if only because the pixel density is far higher on a monitor than the equivalent Tv, unless its a 4K Tv

A lot of the older ones have 480 native resolution but I don't really see a difference in quality, just resolution options.
My Bravia seems to like 1280X1024 and I can watch full screen movies, it looks good. Game graphics can get a bit blurry on anything above that.

this is pretty much what I did. I recall first thinking about how it could work and it was a big deal for me at the time.
When it came to the size of the PC monitor vs TV it took awhile before it hit me that all I had to do was move the couch closer. So right behind my computer chair is a sofa. It as worked perfectly for 6 years now.
I have a spare empty room and I was thinking of getting a large beanbag chair and a projector but honestly..I think VR will be better for that kind of stuff
Please do not respond to me, even if I ask you a question, its rhetorical.

Let's play Fallen Earth (blind, 300 episodes)
Let's play Guild Wars 2 (blind, 45 episodes)
