I lost because...

We all know that when we lose a PvP fight it's never our fault.  Being soundly beaten is a contradiction in terms (unless we're the winner of course).

To aid others in coming up with excuses why the better player did not win I figured I'd start a list.

  • The game was lagging
  • You got lucky
  • The game is bugged
  • I went AFK during the fight
  • My keyboard temporarily malfunctioned
  • You were using cheap tactics (popular in fighting games)
  • I wasn't trying to win
  • You were using hacks
  • The game doesn't require any skill
  • You're a $%^$# mother %$@!!$%
  • The characters are not balanced

    When someone wipes the floor with me that's definitely because he is playing an OP class. Even when he plays the same class as i do.

    It has to be.

    the last one on your list has got to be the most common call on forums for a nerf. The assumptions that the player who lost is the best there is so the only way they could lose a fair fight was because the other players class is OP.  It's often followed up with people complaining must mean something is wrong with it...

    Personally the only modern MMORPG trend that annoys me is the idea that MMOs need to be designed in a way to attract people who don't actually like MMOs. Which to me makes about as much sense as someone trying to figure out a way to get vegetarians to eat at their steakhouse.

    One time, in Tera, I was typing a response to someone's question when someone must have spammed a duel invite. Somehow, what I was typing hit a key that allowed me to accept and suddenly I was being hit with attacks.

     

    Never even got a chance to fight.

    This was on a pve server.

    most of the time i lose because i suck at pvp. Also i lose when the game is gear based because i dont care about gear, i use what i loot and complete the set with vendors or Auction house if i have the money. Using OP gear just make games easier and more boring although they look badass.

     

    With that said, i will never forget Max Payne 3 on PC. I have never seen so many hackers in my life in a single match, in almost every match. In that game i rarely died for my own fault. Blasting a shotgun in someones face and not doing any damage just to be killed in one shot of a pistol(not headshot), and without lag. That was the last online game i cared about from Rockstar. Still not interested in GTAV online on PC.

    The P2W excuse is good.  Especially since the odds are pretty good that the guy who beat you never spent a dime.

    I lost because I went AFK in the graveyard for the entire match.  I did nothing but still got a reward!

    You're obviously wearing better gear. There's only one way to fight fairly in a role-playing game, and that's naked.

    Hoping to distract him, I'd win by fighting him without armour (or clothes).

    I've heard people complain about their adversaries using potions or spell charges in duels.."WHO USES POTIONS IN A DUEL!? ", they ask

    And there is the good old whine from soloers being upset that the game isnt solo and someone jumps in to help their target.. or when someone attacks them while they are in a pve fight. The gripes are somewhat legitimate. They didnt lose to a better player. But they lost due to ignoring the MMO part of the game.

    I'd love to see somebodies wife / girlfriend jump on the keyboard while their significant other is using it.  It must be like something out of GLOW!
