That style of gameplay has come and gone, it's time for a new type of game play.
huh. And here I was subscribed to Vanguard up until they announced its closing.
I think you just judge and evaluate things based on your own little corner of the world and anything outside of that is just "beware, there be dragons" territory.

Originally posted by Salimus78 I am glad that Brad had what it takes to push past the cynical crowd chatter and continue making the game many of us need. I miss role based MMOs. All MMOs today, all you have to is whine about what role you can't fulfill and the Devs give in. I want healers and tanks that can't dps for shit. I want pulls you can not kill without a dedicated puller and someone casting cc abilities. This whiny entitled community of kids can such it. Some of us NEED this game.
Need? And you have the audacity to call others entitled...
Hopefully if Brad is going to do something like this he does it 100%. He can't compete with WoW for the casual market, but there is an untapped market where he draws an incredible opportunity due to lack of any competition at all.

Yep, same here.
me too.I'm not giving him any money prior because clearly he isn't the best at managing money. But, if he can get this game to beta and it looks like it will launch in decent shape then i'm a customer.
Jumping in here, too. Wait and see approach for me

Personally the only modern MMORPG trend that annoys me is the idea that MMOs need to be designed in a way to attract people who don't actually like MMOs. Which to me makes about as much sense as someone trying to figure out a way to get vegetarians to eat at their steakhouse. - FARGIN_WAR

Did I miss a memo or something? When did "need" become "I deserve?"
I need food. Does that mean I am entitled to it? Does the world owe me food?

I would love to see this game make it. Say what you will, but the fact that Brad is still moving forward on this game, says a lot about his character and passion for MMOs in general.
It's not exactly fair to put all of Vangaurds short comings on Brad. People love to forget that Microsoft was first to jump ship in the funding department. Brad had no choice but to team up with SOE which is known for pushing games out way before they are ready. Vangaurd had alot of potential...
I also see no reason not to donate down the line a little bit. I look at these games as virtual communities, why not help fund that community. Noone says you have to give stupid amounts of money, but if you can't afford a 10-15 dollar risk for game industry that you claim to love....maybe you should be out looking for another job instead of playing games anyway.

Here's the deal Brad:
- get the game to alpha
- make a world not a playfield
- don't cut corners
- get the core moment-to-moment gameplay right
...and you can have some money.
