I'm looking for an MMORPG that meets these criteria. The more it meets the better:
General:
1) Fantasy setting preferably. Swords, Bows, Magic
2) No Class/Race [Very Important]. Better that everyone's a human and your "build" is decided by the equipment you use and the skills you spend time training.
3) Minimum effect of levels. If a level 1 has 100 hp. A level 80 might have 200, not 20k. Same with other stats. If no levels at all even better.
4) Not pay to win. Monthly fees are fine.
Combat [Very Important]:
1) Defensive-reactionary focused: Likely has a large stun/knockback for even a normal attack. Better yet if a level-appropriate mob (not boss) kill you in 3 hits if you don't have proper position or active defensive skills when you're hit. Placement and footwork are important, as well as loading the right counter/block skill at the right time. Assuming same number/strength mob, a 1v1 or 1v2 should be the norm. 1v 3 or 1v 4 the player should be looking to back themselves into a corner as to not get attacked from all sides. 1v5 and above should need a miracle to prevent death.
2) Definitely not hack and slash: Popping potions to tank any damage like nothing then killing mobs in 2 hits shouldn’t be in this game (unless the mob also kill you in 2 hits and they have potions too). Neither should be "oh I'm surrounded ROFL AOE". AOE should either have super long prep time for team stuff, or super long cooldown for emergencies.I DON’T want to plow through 50 “level-appropriate” monsters like tissue paper.
Equipment:
1) Preferably with a certain level of realism with a wide variety, all with unique uses. Spears should handle different from pikes. Long sword from short sword from daggers. One-hand war hammers and maces for blunt-trauma like they were in real life. Imagine 8 people forming an ad-hoc shield-spear wall. That'd be cool. And hopefully no stripper armors.
2) That said, stats change of better equipment should be like levels: noticeable and important, but minimal.
Skills:
1) Life skills too [Very Important] . Like smithing, knitting, cooking, fishing, etc.
2) Skills should rank up by repeated usage, not dumping level points in it.
3) Damage skills should only minimally increase in damage with each rank. More importantly should be increase in side effects (hit rate, stun, knockdown, skill cooldown/charge time decrease, increase area of effect, etc).
Social Aspect:
1) Team and teamwork focused [Very Important] - Even your grinding dungeon is unbeatable without a party. Basically one that rewards using a party to get through stuff. Rewards, both exp and loot, should be more efficient with a larger party, not smaller. As in by the time you are strong enough to solo a dungeon, you might as well team play a harder one.
2) Stuff to do other than fighting [Very Important]. Build a house? Hang out at a friend's house? Play some music? Actually explore beautiful sceneries?
3) PVP: No random PK. Duels and some kind of team battles like wars, sieges, raids are good. Also the results of combat system means even if you're server #1, highest level and best equip, getting ganged up by 30 new players could kill you even if you fought serious.
Graphics:
Animesque or "Realistic". In other words, NOT western cartoony. 2D or 3D doesn't matter, except if the 3D give me motion sickness.
So it's probably not possible to find a game with all of these. Please just suggest whatever that has the highest matches.
Thanks,

I think what you are looking for is "Life is Feudal"
Unfortunately I believe it is still not playable yet but you might want to keep an eye on it if you were not aware already.
As for anything playable, I am not aware of anything in my limited expereince, that meets your combat criteria.
FFA Nonconsentual Full Loot PvP ...You know you want it!!
With monthly Fees.
Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn.
It not turn-based has many people think.
It have all classes in 1 character, it always depend on weapon equipped. For Example, if you equip a SledgeHammer, your became a Miner, with Skills for Mining,
The crafting System is amazing ( for me is the first game that crafting was actually really fun ), you can buy your house and craft furniture for it.
There are Dynamic events across the world map. Dungeons are impossible in Solo, always need Party member with party roles, some needs to be in Raid group.
Mounts that have armour and fight along with you, Pets... and a bunch of amazing stuff.
Graphics, are very optimized and amazing, you can even play it from the living room with a PS3 controller, the game can easily be played with a controller or keyboard+mouse (simple switch) that saves all your UI arrangement for each type of gameplay.
Almost everything is customizable in graphics (great 3D engine).
The story is very good with funny moments and some sad moments ( its Final Fantasy )
Check it out.
PS: Im not playing it because of the montly fee... im more a casual gamer.
So you want a non hack n slash thempark skillbased game that is Not a pvp centric game?
If I were you I would aim for EQN, FF A realm reborn.
Maybe try some unconventional Sci Fi titles, Planet Calypso, Megaten maybe.
He does not want PVP by the looks of it so it rules LiF out..
My SWTOR referral link for those wanting to give the game a try. (Newbies get a welcome package while returning players get a few account upgrades to help with their preferred status.)

Aah yes I think I missed that at the bottom. I think because he went into so much detail about combat I assumed he would want PvP.
I am not pro PvP myself but I still keep an eye on this because it seems to offer so much. Good luck with the search OP.
FFA Nonconsentual Full Loot PvP ...You know you want it!!
maby try age of wushu / wulin
has some thing you would like but the leveling system is different, u level over time logged in more than mobs killed and quests done, tho mobs and quests do help abit, and max lvl doesnt take too long, alot of the game is crafting and stuff too. and pvp is good
Currently Playing:
......
The Secret World has almost everything on your list plus probably the best lore out there today. But crafting is utility only and there isn't any housing (yet), though there is a fantastic RP community.
The game that comes to mind is FFXIV. It meets most of those requirements.
FFXIV is about the only game i think that comes close to what you are looking for.
if you were willing to put up with the pvp then ArcheAge might be one to look at. but i'm like you, ive no interest in PvP mmorpgs. when i want PvP i play Arma2/Dayzmods or BF.
"There are at least two kinds of games.
One could be called finite, the other infinite.
A finite game is played for the purpose of winning,
an infinite game for the purpose of continuing play."

Bumping this a bit...
So I took a look at all the suggestions with reviews, videos, and game sites and...
None of these really appeals to me.
Life is Feudal is the closest in terms of combat I guess, except for the extremely hardcore PvP. I'd hate to walk down the street, then suddenly get killed and full-looted. Or have my smithshop burnt down. At least unless there's some kind of justice and/or vigilante system. Also the combat in the videos seems clunky.
FFXIV is also good but...I don't think the combat appeals to me. It seems very...generic.
I also took a look at ArchAge. It's better than both and has everything except...the combat system looks like crap.
I guess I will change the OP to bit a bit more specific.
I've played both Hack-Slash and skill-click cooldown, but the only MMO that has ever captured me was Mabinogi...before it went down the drain.
Mabi wasn't perfect, and misses a lot of the checklist. But the old combat I loved.
Against a single level-appropriate mob without defensive skill loaded a tank build can survive 5 hits. A close-combat damage build can survive 2 to 3. A ranger/mage dies in 1 hit.
One. To a single level-appropriate mob. And every single hit result in long cooldown or knockback unless on a defensive skill, so really only a tank know he can live through a judgement mistake. Other close-combat type might hope they get lucky. Ranger/mage is sure death. And this is not boss fight. This is regular mob.
I loved going into a dungeon room with a party, then everyone picking a solo target and fighting defensively, or hide in a corner while protecting archers and mages with healers desperately trying to keep up. And as soon as one person mess up it becomes a juggling game between trying to revive him before dying to multi-aggro, and not getting killed trying to revive him. And this is a regular dungeon room, not the boss room.
Then the developers just start dumping AoE after AoE into the game. And keep buffing and adding stuff to increase player stats without keeping up on harder mobs. Now it's all solo spam AoE.
So I'm wondering now is there any other MMO with this type of combat system?
