Is everyone sleeping or am I the first one to read this?

World of Warcraft got best in show! Surely there should be a flood of hatred...

    Or just complete apathy.

It's a hard list to find fault with and that's all these threads are ever full of so, people probably just agreed and moved on. If mmorpg wants more posts they should have picked hello kitty online 2 as best in show or something.

It's another episode of Oprah's big giveaways - you get a prize and you get a price and you get a prize and you get a prize .....

I honestly won't find any fault with any opinion as long as it meets the basic criteria (like games actually being in a somewhat playable state instead of prototype ideas).

Since all the stuff listed is way past "concept" stage, its all good IMO.

Well one of the winners missed what would seem like the #1 criteria: has to be a game.

I cant imagine you wouldn't have a problem with that one too.

Unless, of course, you were just being biased against a game you don't like in your other thread

This is the worst award mmorpg.com has ever hosted...
  • Glad Blizzard isn't quietly starting to neglect WoW.  They are out there fighting for more subs.  Standing still, cycling through 6 attacks and a heal, but still fighting!
  • Eh, I'll hold my judgement until I actually see the expansion for WoW.  But do I believe it deserves best in show?  No.

    With Wow's subscribers at about ~7.5 million, that's $112 million... A MONTH.

I would think that as the number of subscribers climbed, the price of subscription should go down, making it more attractable to those sitting on the sidelines due to cost.

A declining subscription cost would encourage both new players to jump in and those who left because they could no longer justify spending $180 (or more) a year for a game.

But hey, silly me, what do I know? :P

My computer beats me in Strip Poker, but doesn't stand a chance against my Kick Boxing! >: D 3

Off the top of my head I'm going to say how to run a billion dollar company and what thread you're posting in.

Every time someone posts "~X million" subs for WoW, the X gains another half a million.

    That's impressive..

I know it's just me and my personal tastes, but I'm not interested in any of those games listed.

I wish only the best of luck to them however.

    I am glad my taste changed from mmos to the dark souls games.{shared rpg games}

looks to me like all mmos are the same so just buy WOW and play it forever.

'Best of show' just goes to show that the present level of game development leaves a lot to be desired..so they picked an obsolete game for it to spite today's developers

Perhaps Blizzard should focus on the movie.

Looks like non-MMOs won this round. The Witcher 3 looks gorgeous, Van Helsing 3 should be good and Mordheim sounds quite interesting, while the others... meh.

They hype and then they get an award for hyping, you could not make it up.

I think the awards are pretty well spot on, especially with WoW. You can say as much as you want how WoW is out-dated or obsolete, but it's still the most relevant MMO on the market. It evolves to suit its core audience and it manages to still make people gush like little school girls. I can't say I'm a fan of some of the changes over the years and the diluting of the mechanics and gameplay, but it's still damn fun to play. The fact that it's an expansion year and they throw together a killer booth isn't all that surprising. The fact that they outclass every other booth in the building, also not surprising. The fact that their cinematics are always bad ass, not even close to be surprising. It's not like WoW hides the fact that it's old and, as much as it seems like Blizz has been trying to kill the game off for the last 5 years, unsuccessfully, they're still just doing it better than anyone else. Period.

All made possible by WoWs massive profits which are in the billions of dollars.

This is the reason why Blizzard can do things like cinematics that coat 10s if millions of dollars which is simply out of budget for the vast majority of Dev studios.

Yup! And as they should! Now if they can simply get their heads around more frequent content releases I think it'll be a step back in the right direction.

People need to remember that it's all about flash and visuals. If there was some guy at GC shooting rainbows out of his ass, he'd probably win best in show. It's all about, what are people still talking about after the show?

Ok, so name me a game with 3 million players then.... that would be one HALF of the current WoW subs.

I think apathy is the MMORPG award system.  Nothing stands out.  Yay WoW?  I'm not going back again.

Well, kind of bummed I took time to read the comments. Can't this site just have an official "Crying About WoW Forum" and get it over with?

That Guild Wars 2 login screen knocked up my wife. Must be the second coming!

From the list, Destiny and Witcher 3 are the ones that I'm most looking foward. The rest of it...meh. I didn't go to that show, but, was "No Man's Sky" there? Because, for me, it's gonna be the best indie mmo.
