Just a suggestion so that those who want to try farms, houses etc can experience
patron benefits without having to fork out the full amount of a Founders Pack.

Really? 25 to get patron status in OB and 1month sub?

Put more 20 and you get 3.000 credits, head start and a glider.

I might agree patron status for free for all in OB, but the 25 as you describe dont make much sense imo.

It would make sense for Trion to give everyone in Open Beta Patron Status.

They want to show the game off to potential customers, they will want to show the game in its best light. Forcing players to play the F2P version of their world is not showing it in its best light.

Cannot see this happening unless they intend to wipe after Open beta, but I am surpised they did not do this for the Close Beta weekends. A lot of the negative publicity/feedback could have been avoided.

"Forcing players to play the F2P version...", now this is a weird sentence.

Trion is showing how boh systems are, not hiding anyhting. Those who pay play the P2P version, those who didnt pay play the F2P version, its simple imo and was a nice test.

Avoid negative feedback is not been honest imo, this way people were able to opinion about both payment model and this is a plus to me. Trion can even take notes from it and change something if they want so all works as intend.

I was looking at it from Trions point of view.

Trion wants me as a paying customer at launch. Using the CB events to show me the game in its best light would have increased the chances of that happening. I was never going to be a paying customer before launch. I think I am fairly typical of their potential customers.

Not going to happen.  People paid for that, sometimes a lot.  Agree or not, letting anyone play in any beta with it for free would be a real kick in the dick to paying customers.

The only way I see it happening is maybe...maybe...the final hour of the final beta before release.  Even then it just sounds like more trouble than its worth.

They sold a hell of a lot of Packs, just look at Steam sales. Plus, someone had to test the F2P part of the game.

To the OP, just wait it out and sub after. You are not goin to be missing out on anything if you wait.  I got the pack cause im been looking at this game for about 2 years. I wanted in on the betas, plus the goodies you get are kinda cool.

The whole land grab thing is goin to fizzle out. You should see how much land they really have.

What are you talking about? Giving all players a limited free period patron status during open beta is a kick to the groin for all paying customers? Do you even understand what is open beta? People who paid for the founders pack or whatever you call them in archeage have early access into alpha and closed beta and will have free goodies, credits and patron when the servers starts business which is open beta (meaning no more wipe). That is the extra incentive that they are paying for. Considering patron is a status which will impact overall game play considerably , housing and farm land etc... remember there is a quest at early stage where you learn about claiming land for house and farming, if your not patron you will have the quest but you cant buy a piece of land for farming. They could easily just give everyone a 1 week free patron status so after the one week if your not paying for the patron status or already entitled for it either thru founder`s pack or what soever you return to not able to own farm nor house. The players who have paid and are entitled for the 1 month free patron will just add that onto the 1 week, meaning they will have 5 weeks or patron status. Isnt it so much better for the game as a whole.

Letting someone have a lick of the ice cream and then asking them to pay more to buy 1 ice cream is better than putting the ice cream on the shelf with a price tag of X dollars to eat it. My simple illustration...

Where you get this info? I remember in some live stream that will be a wipe after OB.

Servers will start fresh in release, with the 4days headstart to founders.

Was this plan change at some point? Its possible to share a officially info?

I do agree that might work better on market side, but i still thing P2P and F2P playing the betas was a better test for release, because its how is going to hapened.

As I already own a founder's pack  and don't have the need to do real research I may have missed better deals but I've seen basic Silver founder packs go for 30€ as well as heard various individuals claim they got even cheaper deals. Don't ask me details but my point is you could have already gotten what you're asking for a month ago (if you really wanted).

    Silver pack has:

Access to All Beta Tests and Events

    4 Day Pre-launch Head Start

Exclusive Title: "founder" (+1 to All Stats)

    Experimental Glider

    3,000 In-game Credits ($20 Value)

    30-day Patron Status ($15 Value)

Let's just face it. Many things have changed in gaming over the years. Alpha/Beta's are no longer as they were. Perhaps when the majority of gamers started treating them as free game-time or trials , instead of an opportunity to test , contribute to and help refine a game, is when developers started saying 'people should/will pay for this shit"..or maybe they're just greedy dicks...or maybe we're just cheap assholes....maybe everything combined. Anyhow....Things change. Sometimes for the better..sometimes for the worse. In most cases we'll live.

That said..if you want to have the full patron experience...then that would include paying. That's just the way it is. Would it be cool if they gave us a taste? Sure. But I have seen post ..over and over ..about how this or that game changed everything from beta to launch...because they allowed you to experience the full game...while stating their F2P launch model plain and clear. Still the  foul cries of "bait and switch!" echoed throughout the forums.

In the case of this game. There is plenty of info out there to make a decision and develop a pretty good idea as to the differences between patron and f2p experiences. Even without a free Patron trial.
