If they did that the game economy and game would be destroyed in a week.
Labor system is what controls the economy in ArcheAge - as there is no item decay and there is a global AH (across all servers)
I am sorry that is Bullocks. If that were really true, LP wouldn't be on loot and quest rewards for example!
It's ridiculous you have to inspect all loot and quest rewards with LP before you can even use it!
This whole LP system was designed with a single goal in mind! CASH GRAB!
These beta invites are a joke! Eventho I am invited back for Beta 4, I refuse to login anymore! It's completely pointless.
I refuse to pay for a founders pack, just so I can actually try the game in a friggin BETA!
You get ZERO LP as beta invitee. All you can do is quest and kill mobs and either open some loot every 5 mins or mine a SINGLE node every 10 minutes. /Facepalm
Two different things:
1. The original suggestion was for removal of Labor Point system (which means just taking it out of the game entirely - there was no mention of replacing it with ANYTHING). This would be catastrophic.
2. Your comment is on removal of labor points for quest rewards (which I agree with).
The cash grab and not liking it - that's just your opinion, which is fine.
But you see we're talking about 2 different things here - complete removal of core system vs removal of a single aspect of the system.
The other territories (Korea, Rusia) are F2P model only.
The Labor Point system was specifically designed to make people pay! It's how XLGames makes money of this game in these territories!
So yes! It is a cash grab! It's how these F2P games work.
So ofcourse it's designed into the core foundation of this game! Their entire Income depends on it.
In it's current state, TRION will be in trouble and will not be able to advertise this game as Free 2 Play game here in the west. Especially here in Europe! I don't know what the Law says in the US.
EA already got into trouble for that recently with one of their mobile games.

There is Japan too, and they still have a p2p model. Labor points were in since korean betas; your argument is wrong.

Very unlikely. There are still lots of things being worked on to be added before launch.
This is the last closed beta.
Open beta will follow, then launch.
Pax is next week - and Trion folks mentioned that they have news - which could only mean launch is next month IMO
They also mentioned that there will be further beta testing after PAX in last night's livestream and that alpha will remain open. Since we know that alpha will be closing once the open beta goes live, the next beta test can't be the open one.

I too have heard this is the last cloased beta . I would imagine that means open beta in about two weeks time and a release in late September or early October . I know this isn't going to be a game for everyone . Carebears and casuals wont like it but I can't wait .
Its taken 10 years but I have finally found a game that made me feel the way WoW did when I first played it .

Im normally a PvEr and a casual player (play around 20h a week) and i love my experience in AA RU during 3 months.
Cant wait to start here with my friends, was almost alone in RU
I'm hoping someone can give some solid advice to me about this game. I wanted to like it during the last open beta and got to around level 10, but to me the combat seemed clunk and the graphics seemed dated. I played Wildstar and RIft and both seemed to have MUCH better graphics. Is the game not optimized yet?
The combat also felt clunky...which might be a result of me coming from a movement based combat system like Wildstar.
What are people's thoughts on endgame? Is it possible to have an enjoyable endgame experience with small groups/solo? My main issue with WIldstar was I loved the endgame content but do not have the time or energy to have a full-time job raiding with 20 other people. As much as I love the content, I was able to do 40 mans in vanilla WoW cause I was in college and had the time.. :-p

you got plenty of ftp games mate go play any cryptic/pwi game and then come back and gladly pay 15 bucks to be able to enjoy AA fully ^_^
I don't see your point. I play plenty of cryptic/pwi games and don't get any desire to pay Trion any money to play AA. I have been in all the betas too.
Well Trion SHOULD get in trouble if they attempt to advertise this game as FTP. It is not even close to a FTP model. This is a free to try, pay to play model. I have no problem with publishers making money, the game would not exist if they weren't doing so. I invest in games I like because I want them to continue to be available to play. If you never invest in a game, you must not like it very much.
As to AA, it is quite obvious the LP system is probably one of the poorer designs we have seen in a MMO. Every thread has to deal with the angst it has caused. Pulling LP out of the system though would be extremely difficult and make it very hard to accept new releases from the developer. The chance of LP being removed is practically nil.
Trion has done a lot of damage to it's reputation with this title, the founders pack price was over the top, but they believe this game will be a success. We will just have to wait and see. I will probably pass on this game, it really is missing many sandbox features. While there is freedom to choose in this game, it is very limited.
I think Trion would be better off just to release the game, more beta testing will just add to the negative publicity they are getting and take that silly FTP label off it, it is nothing close!
I see the fanboys are out defending yet another eastern billing loot and restriction system in order to be placed in a round about subscription only model that's being mislabeled as F2P. That's about as honest as their calling this game for "multiple audiences" which they have for every live stream they've been in even though there's plenty of forced PVP. Expect a backlash Trion you've earned it by not being honest with folks.

Pay to play, Free to play, Subscription, whatevs - bring 'em on.
There is only one reason why I'm STILL playing the game: PRISON BREAK!!!
