I love everything the game has to offer, the random loot system rivals that of the grand diablo 2. The crafting system, is next to none in its complexity and powerful item, that arent made from a recipe, and ends up making stuff only u created with your name on it. The Pve system has both single and group challenges with great team work, and fun events.
I dont get into the pvp so i cant say anything about that, from what ive seen its just like 20 people, that run around and try to kill each other, and every night call each other names about who sucks, and cheated ect...... It doesnt sound much fun at all.
Any ways my only problem with the game is the gms and the people running the game, which i may just leave because of it, if i can find a game like this one lol. The game for the last month, atleast 20 times has randomly been taken down with no warning, with a 30 min roll back. When i try to ask them why, they dont tell me. The community just for the most part tells me I am dumb for asking, and thats how ulitma online is.
The second is the gms. I reported this person 2 times now, and i havent got a response. He named him self Lord Jesus Christ the Carpenter. Every day at least in the help chat, which goes across the server. He will pop on, and say something, then him and some random others will start making fun of the Christan religion. I asked them to stop, but they told me its stupid to defend not making fun of religions, and that by me being offended by it , there is something wrong with me.
The gms never respond to me..... Which this name is a clear violation of their naming policy.

I had to quit, as much as i like the game in it self. The terrible customer service, gms that dont come for 3+ days. Gms that tell you with people cheatings, botting ect they dont care when you get a response. And the community is one of the worst community i have ever seen. It rivals that of the children troll battles in games like League of legends, and the like. from 3pm on, all u will hear in chat, are people acting like children, trying to make each other feel bad over and over. It is the same people every day 2.
So def dont join this game if your looking for anything other, then a dieing game that ea is just milking it with the pay to play 15 bucks a month, and a pay to win cash shop, till there are no more players left. Out of the last 15 i went back to uo a few times, but i will never be returning to that pit...
UO was unique and still offers a lot of fun even in it's trammel incarnation. It's one of two mmo's I have fond memories of (if you can say being killed and robbed in the first 5 minutes you started playing is a fond memory) and I've been waiting ever since for a skill-based mmo with open pvp and a living world to explore. But, you have to take the bad with the good and world chat, cheating and non-existant gm presence is a ton of bad. I've been tempted many times to start playing again (still have a brother who has played since UO started) but in today's world a monthly fee and the games age gets in the way.
So I'll leave you with this: imagine a game world where danger lurks outside the cities (from players and npcs) and a lively in city to experience and be a part of. In the early days of UO there were guilds sparring in town, thieves running wild, people selling things with overhead chat (only kind there was) and even street performers. Outside the cities pk's (player killers) preyed on the honest folks who were simply trying to find adventure or riches or even just working on a trade. That was UO, a virtual world, where pvp was mixed in with those who didn't pvp and dieing meant losing everything you owned. It could be painful but it brought a level of excitement and intensity that you won't find in today's mmo's which are filled with bored and crabby players who spend their time annoying others because they know there is nothing you can do about it and death is just a momentary interruption.
