This game is not really f2p

waiting for this game for a couple years got to farming quest and then went to try and place scarecrow "free accounts cannot do this"

so basically this game is not actually free to play, if such a large, core and most interesting part of the game (land ownership/farming/housing/crafting etc.) is completely off limits.

wow. I've heard people whine about labour points and the cashshop, but why does no one point this out in caplock...

You'll be able to buy APEX with in game currency and use that to pay for patron status.

The f2p portion of the game is definitely more of a trial tho. You need patron to enjoy it fully.

F2p can't claim land because otherwise people would make 200 accounts and claim everything for themselves. It's written in the FAQ's

    http://www.archeagegame.com/en/faq/

"The open-world housing in ArcheAge is a compelling sandbox feature that we’re very glad to have in the game. Because the housing is non-instanced, there needs to be a balance between available land and players who wish to place farms and houses. ArcheAge will be free-to-play and, as such, will have a variety of players who are in direct competition for land."

The fact that you just have not checked the history does not mean that noone "pointed this out in capslock".

    Unnecessary thread in my opinion.

what I mean is I've read and visting archage discussions enough over the years to know a fair bit about the game aswell as hear people complain about various other parts of the game, and read a few first impressions. and as such its surprises me that I've never come across people making a big deal about this.

even though its basically a utter dealbreaker for anyone who was interested in the only really unique parts of this game. And because its such a big deal that all these other quibbles people are so vocal about now seem very ironic.

its a design challenge, but not a especially difficult one; and one that other games have already solved. For example you simply lose your claim if you fail to pay rent in salem.

if its true you can buy subscription with ingame money in archage then you've got the same basic premise (in a round about and probably unfeasible way).

I have a feeling there will be auction house players in the game. The ones who are really good with numbers and trends. They will be able to free play and after a few weeks will have enough money from playing the auction house buy low sell higher to become patron and from there....they will have full access to the game and probably continue to gather enough for additional patron status as well.
