Best MMORPG for me?

JoshoowaJoshoowa Member UncommonPosts: 12

I'm looking for a fun MMORPG for me to play. I've tried a few: Onigiri, Dragons Nest, and Mabinogi to name a few, and although they were good, they just werent what I was looking for :/

I want to play one that has a lot of choices, and although has a story line and quests, they are more of a suggestion to gegt a little extra exp on the side. Highly customizable skills and characters and a very player included combat system, basicaslly none of this point, click to attack, wait for your guy to stop swinging his sword and the thing to fall over.

The thing I diodn't like about both Dragons Nest and Onigiri is that the only place to really level up were dungeons, sure Onigiri had training fileds, but the monsters gave you no exp, even when you were half their level.

Basically, I've been watching a lot of Sword Art Online and now I want something as close to that as possible, where you can be a bad guy or a good guy. Where there are meaningful training fields and boss dungeons that actually mean something. That sort of thing.

Hopefully I'm making some sense and someone can suggest something that relates the nonsense I just spewed out.

Free games are preferred but I'm not above shelling out a few bucks.

Thanks!

i see you like Anime mmorpgs. Ive been playing Onigiri for the last few days. Its not very polished but i like it, mostly because of the anime artstyle and the combat a bit.

You might like TERA since it has an asian style too and its free to play. Most asian mmos are kind of low quality or just plain bad (unfortunately) so i cant recommend many. Age of Wushu is fun and free but the cash shop is idiotic.

If i have to make a serious recommendation id suggest GW1 or GW2, but they require purchasing the game. FFXIV too but that has a subscription. As for other free to play.... im not quite sure what else.... Vindictus (the sequel to mabinogi) has a really good combat and character animations but thats not even a game IMO, just a mindless repetition of the same dungeon over and over, same with Dragons Nest and C9. But at least they are free so you wont lose anything other than a little time trying.

I was just told by a friend about 2 games that I've never heard of:

    Perfect World

    Els World

do you think either of theese fit what I'm looking for?

Also about GWII, athough it looks amazing there may be a problem, the price. I just can't shell out $40-$60 on a game I may not even like, or for that matter be able to run! XD

    Thanks though!

I'm not sure where your budget is now.  I haven't played those games so I am going a little in the dark here.  I'd recommend trying any sort of game that is either buy to play or free to play.  This will give you exposure to several different titles as well as give you an idea of other popular games.

1). World of Warcraft. I believe they have a 10 or 20 level trial.  I'd recommend this primarily because it has such a huge following and has a lot of great elements to boot.

    2) Lord of the Rings Online.  I still love this game even though I havent played in some time.  When it first launched, I felt it was the perfect themepark.  In many ways I still do.

    3) Tera.  Buy to play with action combat and has a very anime look to it.

    4) Aion.  Loved it at launch and now it is free to play.  Great game with a strong anime style.

    5) Star Wars The Old Republic. The free to play option is more of a trial of sorts so know beforehand that if you want to enjoy it fully a sub is required.

    6) Guild Wars 2.  Buy to play.  Very strong fanbase.  Has action style combat and beautiful world.  Really a great casual MMO.

    7) Age of Wushu - A lot of users here really like this game and I believe it is free to play.  I am not that aware of it but there is another user (BCBully) that was quite the fan.

    8) The Secret World - Great horror/paranormal/Cthulu type game set in modern times.  Buy to play.

If you have any questions on any, feel free to ask!
