I haven't played a Trion product in years, so I wasn't sure if it was a phishing email or what until I saw this article.

No they didnt, you got hacked.

5 minutes of research would have showed you that hackers are going rampant with Archeage.

People were going crazy trying to get beta keys from 3rd party websites, this is likely how your info was found if you played in the betas and got a key anywhere other than from Trion.

This also states fairly clearly that you were being charged for a GIFT, i.e. someone hacked you and tried to purchase the pack for someone else (themselves, probably) with your information. Change dem passwords, yo.

Yea and gamers these days need to be a little diligent in their comments. I see so many people making this out to be Trion trying to purchase stuff with their credit cards.

Like this is some sort of diabolical scheme from the company to steal your money. Seriously, they would have so many lawsuits it would be rediculous.

In short.......Trion didn't do this to you, so do not blame them.

Scapes even came out with an official statement and said that all of these transactions would be refunded to players. So message support and get your refund in the process. No need to make a big deal out of it here on MMORPG.com

Whoa, whoa I didn't even get to that point. I've been around awhile and know that old accounts do sometimes get compromised.

$150 is nothing to sneeze at, and it was Trion who attempted to process this fraudulent payment. Like I said it failed.

Big deal? Well yes it is a pretty big deal. News worthy stuff as well as PSA material. It is what it is man. How you take it is up to you.

Trion isn't responsible for your account and billing data outside their databases. There is nothing they can do about it, no need to blame them.

Shit happens, be more careful with your stuff next time.

Are you serious? Trion did not do this to you. All their servers saw was someone log into your account and try to purchase something.

Here is a tip, go check your email. I just got an email from Trion about 30 mins ago stating:

"Starting tomorrow, when you log in to Glyph from a new location or computer, you'll be asked to verify that it really is you who's logging in.

When you log in from a new location or computer, we will send a code to your account's primary email address that you will need to enter into Glyph to proceed.

If you use the Glyph or RIFT Authenticator (available on iPhone®Android, and Windows Phone®), you can enter your authenticator's code when prompted, and, optionally, whitelist your computer so you don't have to enter log in codes in the future.

If you're a RIFT player, the computers that you have authorized in the past with RIFT's Coin Lock security will automatically be whitelisted.

You can read more about this new security feature at RIFTgame.com

As always, if you have any issues with access to your account, please contact us at the Glyph Support Center for assistance!"

So there, Trion is trying to help. Stop blaming them as if they are trying to steal your money.

Your CC info could be saved on your online profile. It is your job to login and go to your payment options and delete your saved credit card info.

    This is not their responsibility

And that is how shit like this happens, people do not consider their own responsibility...

Ookay guys. You seem more upset than me. I was just surprised. Sure I've been "hacked" before in WoW and GW2 at launch, never has anyone tried to take money though. I wonder what makes this scenario so different.

Trion will have an automated payment system and that system simply saw a purchase coming from your account. Exactly what it is supposed to do.

Trion have not "done" this to you, unless you are claiming that they hacked your account with the sole purpose a buying themselves a gift copy of their own game?

It seems clear to me that you are were careless, got hacked (as you claim to have done previously) and whoever hacked you has attempted to buy themselves a pack using your credit card information which I assume was stored on your account page.

Tell me how this is Trions fault again?

The one in the RED, do you understand what it means? well i guess you don't judging by your outrage, it means that you tried to buy that pack as a gift for someone else? now why would you buy a 150$ pack and gift it to someone else? of course you would not, it was done by someone else, someone else who hacked into your account and tried to buy a gift for himself. change your account password or whatever it is you messed up.

Yes, and you can remove them.

Login to your account and remove them. Do this also when the payment method information is old.

Go to the sites of all other games you ever played and for which you gave credit card information as part of the payment method and delete that information also.

Only leave payment methods intact for games you actually play and you actually need it.

It takes one to know one.
