Official forums are out of control

grimalgrimal Member UncommonPosts: 2,935

Anyone visited them recently?  It's like a war zone over there.  I've never seen such anarchy on an official forum.  It's actually quite amusing in a twisted sort of way.

Here's a couple of snippets:

"Are you fucking dense, or flat out stupid, some of us "freeloaders", as you say, do have jobs, it still doesn't mean we have the money to be paying $15/month for something we might, just maybe, get to play on the weekends. Please for the love of whatever god, or w/e you prefer, get the fuck off of the internet and never come back."

--------

"Everyone I have asked about this game has said they love it, its awesome, I cant wait to play it. You know? People that are actually happy this game is coming out!

Then you come to the forums. It is straight up AIDS in this forum board with the constant constant "The LP system broken for F2P, we cant farm, we cant house, we cant etc.." blah. blah. BLAH!"

-------

"Seriously the chat channels ...some of the worst I've ever seen and I've played a lot of games. Yeah you could turn it off but then that kind of defeats the purpose of an online game in a way.

You should really think of charging 5 labour to post to any global chat channels. That will soon solve the problem.

May I suggest...

100 labour for any sentence referencing Chuck Norris

1000 labour for any sentence about "speak english"

50 labour for a "whens open beta"

this list goes on...."

All you need to do is use words ending in "ing" in chat... that to me is hilarious... that words that end in "ing" are all flagged.

Having a wonderful time playing this game... it's simply amazing!

***ing a wonderful time ****ing this game... it's simply ****ing!

And then you get warned for inappropriate language to boot.

Typical "freeloader" comments. These people have jobs and are so busy and can't afford 9 bucks a month. Really? That's like 1-2 pints of beer!

They have no mods, and have rift devs helping with support requests. Scapes can't really mod the whole forum :P

I suppose they will get wiped anyway for release.

The F2P base coming to this game are nuts...don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking anyone that sticks to f2p games.  That said, these guys get pissed if they have to pay for anything.  The best comment from a f2p player I read was, "F this company, they won't be getting my business."  Had to lol...WHAT BUSINESS DUDE YOU WERE F2P!  F2p players are great to add to the community, but the noise some of these players make about paying if you want to get, "really" involved with the game amazes me.  Companies don't make games for sport...it's for business.  AA has nothing in it that you have to spend real life money for in order to win at something.  Sure there are some cool things like housing and farms that you'd have to sub for, but that's far from game breaking.

I wonder if these guys flip out at Toys R Us that they have to pay for monopoly or something...

That is because f2p or preferred can't post in swtor forums. swtor f2p model is a joke, can't trade, can't send mail, can't use more than 2 quick bar, can't show title/legacy name, can't hide helmet, in game chat restrictions, can't equip purple gears, content behind paywall, 5 warzone a week and the list goes bigger and bigger. please don't compare eaware's swtor to any of trion's games.

And those who are saying AA f2p model is horrible, look at the swtor restriction i posted above and then talk.

Exactly.  Maybe they feel the beer is the worth price but not the game.  I can think of quite a few games that I would rather spend the money on piss beer than waste it on a sub.  It's all about perceived value and right now even Keystone is more worthy of my money than any sub based MMO.

Then don't play these games, It is as simple as that. you wanna play their game, you want to enjoy the game to your heart's content but as soon as a topic of payment(for something that is valid and reasonable, not trying to grab cash for something like quick bar) comes you tell them to fuck off, you go to their forums and use slur, you come to a mmo site and antagonize the game and publisher. that is a mental problem.

Don't say that man, these crazy people are very much minority, because of them an entire player base can not suffer. true that f2p are not paying anything but they are contributing in various things in game which is a huge deal for paying customers. no subscriber likes to login to an empty world.

Only Subs can post on the SWTOR forums. Both F2P and Preferred players are not allowed. Go figure why looking at your post itself...

Sorry guys, i am a common FTP player, i hardly pay for anything normally because it doesn't deserve my hard earned money (plus a big family to feed) and i have to defend my "class". These problems described aren't because of free players or paying players but are because a total lack of respect and education of the Internet users of this generation plus a lack of moderators.

If you go in the EA games forums it's the same, the difference it's that in EA the forums have enough moderators. So stop being biased and think before post please. These things that are killing all communities trough all net...

Games are made to make money.  "free gamers" wanting to play for free are out of luck.  I call for all commercial sites including this one to educate “free gamers” what f2p truly means.  As I see it, f2p mean that if you enjoy the content and make use of the content you are expected to pay for the content.  If you don’t pay for the content, then you shouldn’t expect to be listened to.

If they are only now learning that f2p doesn’t mean all content is free, that is too bad.

I played in the event 4 weekend.  I was impressed with every aspect of the game that I tried.  I have not experienced this level of satisfaction with a new game in the last five years.  It is a long way from finished.  Battle, Def, Sorc seems to be the OP flavor of the moment.  There are other issues that are known and are being worked on.  My confidence in this game is medium, considering my confidence in ALL other games of the past five years has been low.

Do I think Trion should accommodate the “free gamers”?  Listen they don’t have to pay $15 a month, they can buy whatever they need item wise.  But they don’t want to spend .  But if what they want is everything then they should expect to pay for everything.  Correct me if I am wrong, but you can farm for free in a public farm for 24 hours, after that whatever you are growing if free for all to loot.  That is an accommodation for “free gamers”.  As for housing, “free gamers should expect to be homeless period.”

PS: 1000 lp for :  I want to own a house and farm for free. Or anything like it.

    Pardon any spelling errors
Konfess your cyns and some maybe forgiven
Boy: Why can't I talk to Him?
Mom: We don't talk to Priests.
As if it could exist, without being payed for.
F2P means you get what you paid for. Pay nothing, get nothing.
    Even telemarketers wouldn't think that.
It costs money to play.  Therefore P2W.

It is obvious from a gameplay perspective that this game was mainly a pay to play monthly game from the word go. The fact they will have a trial mode with no level cap is pretty great.

If I were the company I would have global chat and shouts limited to subscribers.

Free players can still use /tell and /say and things like that. But we don't need global and shouts taken up by this game immersion breaking conversation once the game goes live. I wouldn't have trouble grouping with a free to play or even being in a guild with them if they are good players and respectful. Time will tell.

More like the current cesspool of people brooding hate in the gaming community today. This attitude exists regardless of payment model.

This too. You will see a larger segment of complainers in a free environment though.

Oh so much hate against f2p players.
Silly me, I thought the community of AA was a typical example of an open pvp crowd.

LOL, so instead of leaving it on the AA site, the OP brought it here as well... WE'VE BEEN INFECTED!
  • RemainsRemains Member UncommonPosts: 375

There's topics other than F2P that are being discussed loudly. Like this for instance:

Seems Like Trion/XLgame is doing the "throw-****-on-the-wall-and-see-what-sticks" routine. They try to find their costumers breaking point... and stick as close to it as possible. image
