No, it is a probably a mix of them losing a lot of players the last year and the fact that they always seems to be running promotions a few months before they release a new expansion.
Wow do have plenty of faithful players but any game that want to continue as a big one needs an influx of new players, if that don't happen by itself you need to make something that attracts new players.
Wow might have been a bit nervous when GW2 and even TOR & ESO launched, but I doubt they care much about AA.

I haven't played the game for years, I think the last expansion I saw was Wrath of the Lich King.
If it ever does go F2P I might give it another try, but I've played so many games with better graphics since then I'm not sure I could go back after all this time.

Khm, 13€ is too much money for you to spent for 1st class game? What can you buy for that money every day?
