Is it possible for a solo pve minded player will enjoy this game?

JeffSpicoliJeffSpicoli Member EpicPosts: 2,849

So I have basic information about this game and have been following it casually for over a year. From what I understand this is a PVP sandboxish driven game. Do you guys think a solo pveish player would be able to survive /enjoy this game?

What really appeals to me in this game would be farming/owning land , doing trade runs on my boat ect ect... Will this even be possible? The idea of playing a cat and mouse game on the open sea's while dodging pirate players and large guilds really sounds enjoyable to me. Is this even possible, or are doing solo runs on your boat suicide?

Does my vision of being a lone wolf farmer/trader sound doable?

me personally i think its doable . ran with a big guild down to a small guild of a few friends and really the only draw back to the solo method you seek is lack of support for bigger trade runs on the water .. other then that its all very doable solo atleast the farming owning your own land aspect of it .. even trade runs for that matter itd just take you longer as opposed to jumping on a guild vessel which can carry a bigger load with support

yes very possable i did it all the time yes i have a good guild but you do run by your self also and it gets your heart beating sailing to the other faction side and try a stealth run to the gilda merchant and see if you can get your trade pack turned in or get killed and taken and dont forget the ones you got to look out for most really is your own faction killing you and taken your stuff or just killing you for fun.

All of those "thrills" you mention are mostly those that appeal to PvP fans though. :)

My SWTOR referral link for those wanting to give the game a try. (Newbies get a welcome package while returning players get a few account upgrades to help with their preferred status.)

But as i said befor you cant get away from pvp no matter what zone your in safe zones included. ive killed some that pissed me off in safe zones that went afk and i moved them with my farm cart and droped them in the middle of mobs and watched them beat them to death or take them out to the water and drown there arses so its not possable to get away from pvp in aa

I don't see how this will be enjoyable even if it is possible.  Initially you will get by but when it gets to end game or completing meaningful trade runs then you need a guild structure.  If you don't then you will have to either make some allies so you can go with a guild (but miss out on guild benefits) or pay for players to accompany you.

Most guilds will accommodate your play style, ours certainly would but this game will be double hard without a guild imo and you will miss out on some key elements.

I suppose in the abstract you can do this but would it be fun?  I dont think so.  As a PvE oriented player I believe you would encounter endless frustrations.  AA at heart is a group/guild oriented PvP sandbox(?).   There are quests in the beginning of the game as you level your character but even supports of the game are not praising this aspect of the game.  It will be f2p so, of course, give it a try but don't expect to realize your expectations with this game with a solo PvE mindset.

Im defiantly not anti guild, and do plan on joining one, Im just not a PVP focused player. I don't go out looking for "trouble so to speak lol. With that said I always roll a PVP server in every MMO because I love the element of RISK when it comes  to getting attacked or attacking someone myself at anytime, although I rarely do that.

Im just saying for the most part I enjoy rolling solo, with the obvious occasional guild acitivity once a night or whatever...

I'm a PVE person too but will try it out as it's one of the few "sandbox" that doesn't have full loot on death.

I hate killing people but will see how I will fare as I'd love to find a good mmorpg that gives a sense of adventure instead of aiming at dungeons or on rails from point to point.

The best advice that come to my head atm is wait for 16th, spend  only 15bucks and play as a Patron during 1 month, im sure you will have your answer befor u need to spend other 15, wich i belieave will be "yes"  image

Even been a more solo player you will make friends sooner then you expected.

I think that you will find that the game really isn't that dangerous in the safe zones... the mobs are sparse, don't aggro easily, I think they did this because outside of the safe zones, the players are definitely deadly so you don't need the added hassle of NPCs in the mix.

Remember, no one is "friendly" to you in the non-safe zones.  Anyone can attack you at any time, including the guy you've been helping with a quest.  And remember, clever players can find ways of putting you in harms way if you are AFK.

I think you will gravitate towards the PVP side of things jut by virtue of the fact that it is too safe in the safe zones.  I mean, even in WoW, mobs aggroed more than these mobs do.

This is exactly how I played the alpha.

Take advantage of peace time on your intercontinental runs so that you are only vulnerable for 5-10 minutes on the open seas.  Your clipper is more maneuverable than any warship they have.  Might want to buy some eco-fuel on the AH for emergencies.

Yes you can enjoy solo play but not in traditional PVE sense

In alpha on purpose I did not join any guild nor did any PVE or PVP

I was heavy into farming logging to ranching activities

Levelling was no issue from 20 to 50.

I raided illegal farms all the time in PVP zones so there was thrill in that

Was able to buy medium house and craft quite a few items.

SO if you are looking for fun there are various activities for solo player.

But if u want traditional PVP or quests then u have join a guild.
