I see so many posts and articles about why this game failed. I think I speak for the entire world when I say this, the games art style and generic story is what killed this game from the start. I know the fanboys will flock here to flame me but this game doesn't have anything going for it at all besides it so called hardcore raiding. I could forgive the loony toon graphics if it actually had a decent story. I know a lot of comparisons can be made to Warcraft graphics but that IP at least has some epic lore and I think that has contributed greatly to its longevity.
Wildstar to me is nothing but a generic soulless game that basically should have come out around 2006-07 when the market was still interested in themepark gear treadmills.

If you go around reading everyones' posts about why they're leaving Wildstar, you'll find there are LOTS of reasons why the game is "failling" (or strugling. Or low population. Or however you want to put it)
The game simply has a ton of "possible" flaws in a billion areas. If it isn't one thing that turns someone off the game, it's something else. Even if you like the graphics, you might hate the combat system. Even if you like the combat system, you might hate the lack of casual end game. Etc etc etc. Wildstar simply has waaaaay too many different things that can cause a person to not like the game. Even if you're hardcore and don't mind the lack of casual end game, you might hate the graphics. It's like, the OPPOSITE of "there's something for everybody's tastes" in that it's "there's something that sucks for everybody's tastes"
Seriously... unique? You really believe that? I'll give you fun and polished if it floats your boat... but unique? WS brings nothing unique to the table that hasn't been there before. Pretty much they are trying to follow Blizz's copying X feature and improving it but Carbine failed on the improving part. The combined olod style raiding with an overuse to telegraphing system non of which Carbine created as those systems have long been in the MMO genre.

People are just bashing on a crap article that all it does is "Ohhhh WS is GREAT, WS is AWESOME, WES is BLAH BLAH BLAH."
Notice how the author does nothing to show how it is so great, which if it was then why ohhhhh why are they already facing severe population issues?
This is an extreme rose-hues glasses article. And posted in the NEWS section when it ain't no way in hell a news article since its just some fanboy's blind love for his precious MMO, or a fake author made by this site, since it provides nothing that is news related to WS.
As much as I enjoyed Guardians of the Galaxy, sorry, no, it was not a better Star Wars than Star Wars [mod edit]
Reading that comment conjured a giant "WTF?!" sign over my head. The only thing Guardians of the Galaxy has in common with Star Wars is that they are both sci-fi. Other than that the setting and characters are completely different.
Though Ronan did remind me of the Sith. :P
Heh... it was his comparison, not mine:
"Sidebar: someone mentioned a couple of weeks ago that the new Guardians of the Galaxy movie can be considered to be the Star Wars movie that we should have gotten instead of Episode 1: The Phantom Menace. By the same token, I’m finding that WildStar is the game that Star Wars: The Old Republic should have been (sorry, SWTOR fans!)."
Guardians was a very nice surprise: I wan't expecting much and I found it knock-you-socks-off good. But WS to me is much more Sailor Moon than Guardians or Phantom Menace
I prefer SWTOR as it is, I could not stomach it if it would be like Wildstar. I tried it in beta, played maybe 2 hours and decided to move on.
SWTOR was mediocre before F2P and now it's just horrible with all of the restrictions. And yes, I know you can buy the unlocks with credits. But, no game should restrict crafting and gear. And, I wish they would have made an explorable open world and would have only used the story cinematics for starting zones. The cinematics are putting so many restrictions on developing new content. If they ever decided to add new classes or changed weapon restrictions, they would have to redo a lot of the cut scenes. I really don't think they thought things through when making the game.
"WildStar is a game built upon character. It’s charming, it’s quirky, and it relentlessly seeks to win you over with its tongue-in-cheek, scifi-meets-fantasy-via-space-western setting."
I'm sure some feel like this - but again for me at least the exact opposite is the case. I find Wildstar's attempt at charm forced and contrived, I find its characters and character downright annoying - and tongue-in-cheek is as subtle as a chainsaw to your eyesockets.
Wildstar is the only MMORPG that actually evoked the feelings of genuine annoyance in me - assault on the senses.
Just goes to show you how different we all are.
This exactly. This is what I found each and every time I tried to like this game.
That's why there are so many options out there, like you said, we're all different.

Yes, because the market right now is all about sandboxes and not themeparks..... said no one ever. Did I miss all the sandbox mmos that have such high populations? Oh ya, that doesn't exist lol.
My last updated list of pro/cons before stopped to play.
PRO (many more then noted below but this are among the best)
love cartoony graphics, one of among the best style ever along with Wow
fun, humor, good quests
very fluid movement (minus lag problem), controls responding as expected, very well
client loading very fast
no single bug or crash in 3 last beta days (but one of worst headstarts I ever played ... actually .. there was no headstart I guess for many of us)
only game (known to me) so far where i.e. river is driving you in direction of water flow ... amazing! Must constantly battle water flow. :-)
love double jump and missing already in other MMO’s :-)
underwater combat and quests (even if small number of them)
so far not a single gold spam message in chat! Very few in ingame mail easyily reported, mining bots in game have been truly eliminated in a week or two, they reacted fast and efficient.
Love idea of no need to go back in majority of cases to quest giver on completion, solve quest, get reward
CONS (more than this below, but not important as this)
Only 1 (ONE!) button mashing toolbar; this account for 99% reason for me why I stopped to play and why I do not plan to return; same happened for me to TSW
I HATE from bottom of my heart that silly, booooooring, annnnnoying .... as hell minigames with pressing F at certain point, remembering color combinations, .... or pressing A, W, ... etc while being stunned. I HATE using WASD for move and I will NEVER (again) play such games. Wildstar support mouse for moving, but still that silly letters WASD are used at certain point to get out of trap or stun .... while my fingers are far from that keys. Fortunately at least F and color combinat games are easily “fixed” with (gratz to authors) addons, but not WASD. Without addons to “fix” this problems I would be out even without 1 toolbar problem
Lag, lag, lag. My computer can run all maxed out and still getting more than satisfying 30-40fps Wow, Gw2, CO, Rift, ... So is client problem (despite many can play with 100fps, also many can not!) if in Thayd I can barely move at times, same in other cities. Getting only 15-20 in wilds at medium to high settings. I’m positive sooner or later they will fix this but unfort not 1 toolbar problem which is core mechanics.

I think this list is pretty spot on.
I only really disagree with the 1 toolbar con. I absolutely love that they make you choose what you want to use, WoW combat has become nothing more than mashing buttons at the right time. Wildstar combat is so much more, your choice of abilities has a big impact, also the combat is more focused on movement than just button mashing which I also like.
Minigames, I like sometimes but they can get old. I do like how they manage to keep you are on your toes though. Still I agree with the gripe about the keys they use for these things.
Also while my performance is fine, it isn't great. They could do a lot better, and I imagine performance is one of the biggest limiting factors on whether or not people can play the game. I know people who want to play but can't on their hardware so they keep on playing WoW.
Still I think if you have the hardware to run it, it is the best MMORPG out at the moment IMHO. What I really like about Wildstar is they really earn your sub by providing value, unlike some games that take your money and run for months on end.
I only played the trial of Wildstar so my opinion may not hold as much weight as others who actually were able to reach endgame.
I enjoyed WIldstar as a quirky little timewaster, but at the end of the day I didn't see myself getting enough enjoyment out of it to pay monthly for it. The game did run smoothly for me, I loved the flow of the combat, and even the graphics/story were entertaining enough, but I found myself getting bored of playing after a while of playing. I honestly think that for me it felt like a single player game, and anymore single player games simply bore me. I don't even bother buying them for my consoles, yet alone want to pay monthly for access to one. It probably didn't help I was a Dom so hardly saw more than 1-2 people over a 5hour stint of leveling. Saw more people in town standing around, but in town isn't exactly where the adventure happens. It almost feels as though Carbine was thinking to big for their zones, which while I applaud their efforts, they seemed to have made the same mistake many other companies with factions seem to makes, and assume the factions would be equal start to finish.
I think things may have been better if there were no factions or the game was F2P/B2P. If there were no factions, it would allow more people to filter out through all the zones, rather then ending up in an under populated faction being split up even further by zones. Make the game feel more alive with players, not just AI, and let players form their own factions through guild and alliances rather than forced story.
If B2P/F2P, I could at least hop in and out of without worries of a subscription. Without some fairly major change to balance out the playerbase, I simply don't see Wildstar ever being a game I would want to pay a subscription for when you have FFXIV, Rift, GW2, Tera, and other games out there. I really enjoy action combat, and Wildstar certainly had good action combat, but that one feature just wasn't good enough to validate a subscription when so many other action MMOs are out there that are nearly just as smooth in terms of either gameplay or story.
Again, my opinion might not hold as much weight as others, but I personally feel that if someone starts getting bored of a game during a 7 day trial, how would that player ever be expected to purchase a box, let alone a subscription.
I prefer cartoon styles, but Wild Star looks like trash. There's some good bits in there, but the overall aesthetic left me with a 'blah' feeling. Carbine's style of 'in your face EPIC BACON!!' is a huge turn off for what seemed like a potentially interesting setting.
I played WS in beta and liked it....... to a point. Glad I didn't buy. Wonder when they are going to drop the price. After losing so many people, you think they would drop the price trying to get new blood into the game.
I've been playing MMOs since Ultima online to thisl this day it still amazes me how incredibly die hard Negative most MMO players seem to be. I truly don't understand it it's like they try to find things wrong with any game and then focus solely on that. Im sure this will invite a whole slew of sarcastic and equally negative comments but Some might benefit from taking a breath and remembering to at least try and have fun while doing somethimg you love to do such as play MMOs. To each his own I guess but what a lame and constantly disappointing existence it must be to be someone who can hardly enjoy anything anymore and to constantly feel the urge to hate on anything and everything. I'm loving WS btw. Beautiful, hilarious and super fun.
4 months in closed beta, 3 months as a subscriber, 6 level caped toons on both sides and i'm squeezing my brain to remember one just one memorable character from the "many" WS has according to the author.
I would appreciate it if he left a reply elaborating about this "a game of characters" statement.

It's obvious; you've sped through the content so bloody fast. Having 6 level capped toons 3 months after launch only proves this. It's doubtful you even read quests or became even slightly familiar with the lore that was provided.
EDIT: I stand corrected 6 toons on BOTH sides... 12 total? Jeez, your chair must have a nicely worn dent.
