The Total Experience comes on 5 CDs. That would be quite the download. It is not as bad as the 9 CDS EQII requires and people complained they wanted THAT as a download. Anything much over a gig and I would rather get the disks.
I am a full time crafter. There isn't a craftintg profession I haven't done excpet Combat Medic and that inclueds Doc, Bio Engineer (befroe the revamp) and even smuggler. My main character is (and always has been) a Droid Engineer. As far as from a crafting standpoint, all the CU has done for me is made me stupid rich. To become rich off strictly DE stuff is unheard of.
I will say, when I have to go check harvesters on an adventure planet, I have to go though an arduous ritual to survive: Find someone to group with. You see when you group with a level 80 your effective level becomes 80, so no more damage multiplier. He doesn't even have to be on the same planet as you. As a bonus to him, he gets a bonus to XP and harvesting, even if you're not on the same planet.
Well I just quit SWG, I played it for about 8 months, I was a fully templated jedi and pretty much did it all. My thoughts is its a good game just SOE seems to not really care tomuch about there customers. THe fact is they have to many.
I quit because I didnt get any help when I got screwed with respecing. I am not going to whine. SO I just sold my account and quit.
WoW is nice but its not SWG, I wish there was another mmorpg that had a star wars theme, SOE is the problem with SWG.
I will give SWG another 3 years then its done, there are tomany good MMORPG's coming out that ppl will move too.
a whole 8 months? With macros it only took me 4 months, and some even less. The first guardians just grinded through crafting:).
Not that I think easy is better... I seriously hate games like WoW and all that... but the macro system was the only logical way to get through a crafting prof you weren't going to use for anything. In all I probably had to make somewhere near 1.5-2 million items just for the crafting profs. Anyways... just making the point that less macro, more realism and or fun on the grinding process could of been nice. Just didn't work out...you couldn't hold your own as a crafter without being master. its late, gnight.
You obviously don't know much about SWG anymore. It's impossible to macro-grind to get jedi now. It involves completing aspects of the game now, not grinding out professions like it used to. It's impossible to do jedi in less than 18 weeks now (and that's if you hit the timers perfectly on the villiage). That's also only once you've done all the pre-reqs to get glowy and are ready to handle the missions in the villiage (usually need at least a single elite profession mastered, preferably 2 or the equivalent of that) which usually takes about 2-3 weeks, minimum.
8 months from noob to Jedi PADAWAN is pretty fast by today's standards. To get to a fully templated FRS Jedi is another several weeks/months of steady play.
I don't see how you didn't get help after "messing up" your respec. We had several WEEKS to re-re-re-re-respec to our hearts content. They also fixed anyone who had obviously messed up by mistake. They even gave us an extended respec period if we had problems.
Also, because of the way respec worked even if you did mess up and lose a block somewhere it was really easy to get blocks back by clever use of the respec process. (moving elite blocks from things like pistoleer (which is easy to get) to Bounty Hunter Investigation (which is a pain) and then getting them back by hunting, rinse repeat for combat xp blocks
Anyway, quitting over not getting help for the Respec when they gave multiple warnings NOT to screw it up, then helped those who was provable that they had an honest screwup then extending the respec period for almost a MONTH so you could self-fix anything else you messed up? How can you cry foul after all that? I just don't understand it.
And you are 100% correct. SWG is the best game on the market. And I don't see anything coming out that's going to change that.

I recently returned to SWG to check out the CU. I like what they've done to the game, it's still not perfect.....and they should have done all this before it even came out. But hey, thats SOE for ya.
I think im going to go back to SWG for a while, i never thought i'd say it, but I like playing this game again. Besides, i dont see any other MMO's i really want to play right now, or any time in the near future.
As for the fate of SWG, i think SOE should take a very looong time to plan maybe an SWG2 or somthing...and test it for a very loong time. Because although i like what they've done now, they took too long to do it and ran the game into the ground.

I cant download from internet and buy license? wtf.. go away..
My cool sig: Turrets suck.
Perhaps you could take yourself to a game store? Getting out every once in awhile isn't such a bad thing.
