I have a PS4 - don't have the game nor will I be getting it, as it's not worth it to me.

All this aside your theory on "crusade literally" is pretty cringeworthy.... this happens with every new releaae, why should any game be an exception?

People that like the game will post good stuff, people who don't like it will post negative things.

The crusade against Destiny is all in your mind - it's just normal new game release love/hate reactions.

You pretty much defeated Your earlier rants With this post.

You played the Alpha. You played the Beta. And yesterday you sat for 7 hours playing Destiny?

If you hate a game so much. Why put yourself through 7 hours of playing this game, if you don't like it?

Come on now. There is something in this game you like afterall, or you wouldn't put yourself through it for 7 hours! Especially if you did the Alpha and Beta as well.

On the same, but a different note in my experience.

I played games I really did not like for over a day, just to see if I was to quick to judge about it (Titanfall for example - bought into the hype).

Unfortunately I didn't get my moneys worth out of that game on the Xbox and it has been shelved ever since, but have a Xbox One :)

I don't hate Titanfall per say, it just wasn't what the hype was all about to me personally, sort of a cross analogy here and strictly my personal opinion here as well about Destiny since I dabbled in it's beta.

I think Destiny like all major releases are hyped beyond comparison, but sometimes it's just hype that we all buy into. As stated, Destiny isn't a awful game at all, I personally think as well the money Bungie invested in it, could have been even a better game. I will play this game however when it hit's the preowned gamestop shelves.

Again, we got gamers out there that bought their console just for this as I did with Titanfall.

I would also prefer Destiny having huge seamless open world, conflicting factions, random open world PvP, 10 and 20 man raids, 40 vs 40 battlegrounds,  more complex talent trees, shorter loading screens, and much more.

But, we all knew it wasn't going to happen. And Bungie never hinted the game will have such features.

And they've also let anyone try open beta on all platforms free of charge (big plus in my book), so noone would waste their hard earned cash if they didn't like the game.

Almost no one knows (even I just found out and was pointed on it), that there are parts of each map that won't open up to you until you Reach Level 20!

Like Kings Watch that was given as example.

I was actually wondering why I couldn't get to that large chunk of map. Now I know. :)

So People are actually encouraged to go back to each planet, after reaching Level 20 and explore deeper into each Territory and find new stuff.

This just goes to show, that People these days needs to be spoonfed all the way and have everything handed to them on a silver platter or they just ignore it and don't know it's there.

I have to say I'm not that impressed. Sure, it looks great and it has the core "feel" of combat down cold. But that's about it for the good parts.

The character system is rather straightforward, though I've yet to try my specialised class. The gear is simplistic and don't seem to have much that's too fun about it.

The story is minimal, which is a strange choice for such an expensive game.

The missions are all very similar, and you'd better enjoy shooting over everything else. There's not much story/adventure or anything like that.

The PvP is super familiar, and it's not really my thing.

The actual amount of content seems EXTREMELY limited considering the longevity they're suggesting. If it was just for a 20-30 hour shooter, that'd be fine - but a long-term MMOish experience? Hardly.

The massive hype and marketing is actively working against my opinion, naturally, but I guess it's done the job of selling the game - as I pretty much got my PS4 because this was an exclusive I couldn't play on my PC. Thankfully, I got my hands on Last of Us Remastered - which justified my purchase all by itself.

Oh, this game isn't bad - and it's a fine shooter in many ways. But I simply can't see how it justifies the investment if we look beyond the profit it'll bring the investors.

It´s actually the smartest thing they did. To keep the story as it is. Just the average length campain you see With every other game. Be it single player RPG or CoD / BF / Halo campain. Roughly 12-16 hours average.

People blow through story campains. Be it 10, 20 or 30 hours. And then complain and quit anyway.

Instead they put most into the Exploration part, which most seem to completely ignore. It´s this part of the game which creates replayability and longetivity. They have good core game here on which they can expand on.

Most People currently complaining, are CoD / BF / Halo players with a strict FPS mindset and treating Destiny that way.

They rushed and blow through the Story Campain and now 12 to 17 hours later they claim they are done and beat the game. Skipping a huge part of the game and missing the idea behind the game completely.

    /shrug

So, you focus on a single complaint and pretend it represents all my problems with the game, and then you assume I'm a CoD/BF/Halo player? I'm not.

They focused on the exploration part? Would that be the imaginary exploration part? Because in the game I'm playing, there's a SEVERE lack of exploration - and it's content repetition in the extreme. Go to the same places and do the exact same thing, over and over again.

The missions consist of going somewhere, pushing a button or hacking something - and then kill the exact same enemies rushing towards you.

Considering the budget, one would assume they'd hired a guy to do more than a single mission design.

Anyway, I'm glad you're enjoying it. Let's see how you feel in a month or two - once you wake up to reality.

Personally, I'll generally try an MMO (or variations on the genre) for at least 6 hours or more before I finish forming my initial opinion of it - got to give it a fair go.  While there are exceptions (falling asleep while trying to play it being one of them) it's not really fair to judge these kinds of games (even just as a first impression) without a certain amount of minimum time investment.

Alpha and beta phases can't be compared to the final product, and messing around in those isn't like playing an online game at launch.  Especially if friends are playing it - spending time in a social environment checking it out and seeing how it progresses from those early builds to launch can be fun even if the game itself isn't that great in the end.

So what DMKano said seems legit to me.  Seems to me he probably had hopes the game would end up being better than it's turned out.

Maybe in a few years it will get there?  They seem to be releasing some new stuff pretty soon already.

You have to figure Things out for yourself. Unravel the lore by yourself, by exploring, finding dead ghosts, etc. This way you collect Grimoire Cards that unlock more and more lore for you. Unravel the mystery piece by piece.

It´s just a New different kind of approach, instead of the hold your hand on rails experience from Halo and Mass Effect.

Now, I (and obviously plenty of others too) like this approach and enjoy it very much.  Tho I can understand this is not for everyone. And that´s fine.

But people complaining there is no story and no lore. They are sorely mistaken. Bungie really did put a lot of effort in it and in some very clever ways.

When it comes to missions design.  Ain´t any different than other games! Come on now.

Halo?  Blast your way through endless hordes of enemies. Cinematic. Next map, blast your way through endless hordes of enemies. Cinematic. rRnse repeat.

    Mass Effect? Same thing.

I mean. If we going down that route, then every single game can be torn apart to the basics and reveal the repetitive simplistics.

In Destiny there are a lot of different scout missions. The beacons are spread all over the map in the different sectors. While you have a standard set of missions on random roulation. I discovered some New type of missions in each sector of a map.

If you just keep hanging around the same set of beacons.... Yeah you might end up doing only 3-4 different missions on roulation. /shrug
