I believe Zenimax is testing the waters with a feature being shown only at conventions. Since E3, they’ve been demonstrating a 4v4v4 system where four players from each faction battle for ownership of a flag placed in the center of the map. This is exactly the type of small scale PvP players have been asking for, except it is lacking one key point, strategy. Whilst this is a great feature and it loads of fun, it is far from ready, at least in my eyes, and I will explain why.

I think Cyrodill could be a bit more complex objective wise.
I'd like to see new resources playing a part in some way like maybe fields or something that generate a currency that upgrades the faction in some way... like new keep buildings or faction specific mounts that become unlocked by owning a area. So people would want to own different parts of the map or maybe even whole towns.
Packing Cyrodill with features would be the best hope I would have. Maybe the emperor could even change the direction their faction moves in, technology or betetr siege weapons etc
What exactly are you talking about? I am not seeing where this would be an entirely new game. It will simply be added to ESO.
Does Wow have arenas? Is Wow f2p? ESO is already using mega-servers and has more than enough players to pull from for arena queue'ing within their sub model.
ZoS hopefully uses lore as they foundation for arena style combat. Objectives should be based on lore friendly objectives and story. WAR and Swtor have warzones with objectives and were/are often fun. I have always hated traditional arena because of how boring it is. They have no objectives other than killing each other. ZoS can easily add more objective based combat but the interesting twist is 3 factions going at it. Sadly it would be nothing more than 3 small zerg balls going at it with the current state of the game. They must fix this or 3 team arena style game play is doomed from the start.
You stay sassy!
WoW seems to be the only game in the top 50 that requires a sub, but it's in there and fairly close to the top as far as player earnings go. http://www.esportsearnings.com/games
Hummmm what to do with a failing pvp game? Got it! Chuck a flag in the middle of a map!
Christ, what a pathetic and lacklustre game type.
Personally
less than zero interest
they need to fix continuing bugs..... features that apply to more than a small group of players
What proof do you have that the game is failing?
Most people who actually play it are content.
You obviously dont play, you just want to bring it down man. Dont be a hater maan.
*Peace sign.*
Bugs are being fixed and update 4 should help out with groups.
But yeah there are still some bugs, just they are small and kinda obsolete (screw grammer.)
Awesome read. At this point, I'm all for 4v4v4 arena. One HUGE thing though /classes are not ready atm. Too many bugs and too many balancing issues. This is coming from a guy who always said balance is a myth.
Maybe 6 months from now when all the kinks are worked out. There are so many moving pieces (literally) in ESO. It would be a daunting task.
Yeah I could see 4 DK's ruling this. I like the idea but classes need some more balance before you put them in a highly competitive PVP. The open world at least lets sorcs use their escapability and NBs use their stealth. In this type of small scale territory competition DKs are the only that can really hold ground.

Esport in Starcraft enviorment sure, in an MMO, no spank you.
Its nice as a side show gimmick, but thats about it.
Albait we will get something simular on a much grander scale come Imperial city.
This isn't particularly a good sign. Smacks a bit of desperation, actually. I think ESO fans have some rather nasty shocks coming in the early-mid future (few others would be shocked, though they would too if they only hung round the somewhat delusional echo chambers that are reddit/ESO forums).
Well 4v4v4 is far from "Esport" material. There is a reason why you don't see tornaments were its Free for all, its very hard to compete fairly. Fun with friends but a terrible way to complete for 'who is best'.
Neglecting the fact of how ESO plays (which I think is a huge hamper in its Esports potential), the fact a company might want to push an Esport is likely dooming them to fail. Its something that is hard to ever get working. Most games that have it focusing at it tend to be sequals to other games (SC2, CS:GO, Dota 2, Ect.) Its very difficulty for a game to just 'push' itself on the Esports scene, particularly if its not created for such.
